I started at Cleveland institute a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to get my son involved with the sport. I decided to jump in as well so we could share the experience and journey. I fell in love with the school, the people and the sport immediately. It has been the perfect amount of being pushed, encouraged and patience from coaches and teammates. I'm very grateful for everything they're doing for my son and myself. Don't pass on the opportunity to become a better version of yourself no matter what age you are!

Have been working with Varro and Pablo for a few years now and these are some really down to earth guys. They’ve been there to help me with this grappling journey since I started Bjj. They are always breaking down techniques with detail and always express the importance of safety. You know you’ll have a good time, a good roll, and a good learning experience going with these two.

Such a welcoming environment. I really missed wrestling for many years and I immediately felt this filled that void and more. Can’t say enough positive things!

Amazing gym! I needed to find a place that was closer to my home I heard to check this place out from a friend. I went to one practice and immediately signed up. Been home ever since. I was welcomed with open arms by everyone. My bjj has significantly got better from learning with Pablo and John. It truly has changed my life for the better and for that I thank you!

I'm from out of state and was looking for a gym to train at while visiting family. The Cleveland Institute of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu welcomed me with open arms, taught me new technique to incorporate, and provided tough rolls. If you're in the area I highly recommend checking out the gym for their hospitality and skill set. Looking forward to coming back to the gym the next time I'm in town.

I first came to an open mat at CIOBJJ and found everyone so welcoming and friendly. Rolling made it clear the program is top notch and filled with extremely technical practitioners. I’ve since taken classes instructed by Pablo and John, both are very talented in the explanation and delivery in their teachings. My jiu jitsu has grown in new ways since attending CIOBJJ. Lastly, the facility is clean and beautifully designed. I would highly recommend CIOBJJ to anyone interested in jiu jitsu.

I've been a part of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community for a years now, and I can confidently say that I've finally found my home away from home at CIOBJJ and it's where my martial arts journey has truly flourished. From the moment you step into CIOBJJ, you can feel the passion and dedication that emanate from every corner. Here are some of the reasons why I believe this gym is top-notch: 1. World-Class Instruction: The instructors at CIOBJJ are not just skilled BJJ practitioners; they are true masters of the art. Their knowledge, expertise, and teaching abilities are unmatched. They are patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in their students' growth. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced practitioner, you'll find the guidance you need to reach your goals. Pablo being a World Champion himself as well and coaching the UFC World Heavyweight Champion shows you that this is his true passion! Coach John Varo is one of the greatest guys you'll meet. He's very passionate about bjj (no-gi, he hates wearing the pajamas LOL) and it shows in his coaching. He truly cares about your progress and is always wanting to help give you personal instruction during class when you need it and has made me better at no-gi, thank you John! 2. Inclusive and Supportive Community: One of the most remarkable aspects of CIOBJJ is the sense of community that envelops everyone who walks through its doors. There's a genuine camaraderie among members that makes you feel like part of a family. There's no ego here; everyone is here to learn and grow together. It's a place where you can build lifelong friendships while mastering BJJ. 3. State-of-the-Art Facilities: The gym is spacious, clean, and well-equipped with top-notch training mats and facilities. It's a comfortable and safe environment to train in. Plus, the gym offers ample training hours to fit even the busiest schedules. I love the Rise and Shine 6:30am classes with Professor Brad on Tuesday and Thursday mornings! We have a very great group that has become very close since I've started. 4. Focus on Technique and Fundamentals: CIOBJJ places a strong emphasis on the fundamentals of BJJ. They understand that a strong foundation is crucial for success, and their classes reflect this philosophy. Whether you're interested in self-defense or competition, the focus on technique will undoubtedly elevate your skills. 5. Consistent Progression: CIOBJJ values your progress in BJJ and they offer regular belt promotions that are fair and well-deserved. The journey from white belt to black belt is celebrated by everyone at CIOBJJ. CIOBJJ is more than just a BJJ gym; it's a place that helps you grow in BJJ and personally. Whether you're a beginner looking to start your journey or an experienced practitioner searching for a new home, this gym is the place to be. The combination of world-class instruction, a supportive community, and exceptional facilities make it an absolute standout in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I couldn't be happier with my experience at CIOBJJ, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to excel in the art of BJJ.

As a BJJ practitioner and competitor that have visited and trained in over 10+ gyms both in Brazil and in the US, I can say that this place offers you everything you’d want from a BJJ school. Family atmosphere with killer teammates that know how to work with each other to push everyone to their limits. Coaches Pablo and John are both very experienced and knowledgeable and teach every move, focusing on the small details in an easy to understand manner. I’d 100% recommend this place to everyone. From anyone that is either starting out in BJJ or an experienced grappler who is looking for a new place

I am not a member of the Cleveland Institute of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but I trained with its head instructor, Pablo Castro, for 9 years and received my blue, purple, brown and black belts from him. Pablo is exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced and is a great instructor. Definitely check his program out!

As a purple belt with 10 years experience, I changed schools to come train at CIBJJ. Professor Pablo and Coach John are really amazing teachers! The difference between good BJJ that can be found at most schools and the world class BJJ I’ve been learning here is significant. Even techniques I’m very familiar with I constantly learn new details that completely change the way I look at them. It’s like going to a seminar every class and walking away mind blown. Also, Pablo and John are really super nice guys with great teaching skills. Classes are always hard but fun and the material is conveyed in a way that is easy for someone even as thick headed as me to understand. The rolls are pretty tough with very technical partners who will make you work, but also look out for you. The school culture is respectful and very chill.
