I can't say enough great things about North Coast Jiu-Jitsu in Northfield, OH! Our experience started with a 20-minute phone conversation with the owner, who took the time to thoroughly explain the structure and programming for the kids’ classes. He was incredibly easy to talk to and answered all of our questions, making us feel confident about enrolling our children. Our kids have been attending for three months now, and they absolutely love it! The program is held two days a week, and the coaches strike the perfect balance of keeping the environment fun while still holding high expectations for the students. We've seen tremendous growth in our kids, both in terms of their skills and confidence. The supportive and engaging atmosphere at North Coast Jiu-Jitsu makes it a fantastic place for any child to learn and grow. Highly recommend!
Dropped in for a class while in town. Coach Paul was quick to respond to my inquiry and very welcoming. The gym has such a friendly culture and their focus on fundamentals is excellent. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

I love this place! The instructors provide excellent details and will work with you 1-on-1 during open mat. The members are great partners and can go at your pace, whether you're a white belt or black belt. The environment is super friendly to brand new members, men and women. The kids classes are well-run and a fun way to build confidence in your child. The gym is constantly improving by tweaking classes based on member feedback (striking classes, positional sparring classes). The schedule is second-to-none with classes every day (during the day and in the evening). If you are considering starting or are a seasoned-vet, this is the place for you!

My first class was last Saturday after being away from Gracie Jiu Jitsu for (5) years and I tell you the Instructors are Phenomenal, I was a bit nervous but students and the teaching made me feel very welcomed and very professional. I truly enjoyed myself and look forward to training under the tutelage of these very knowledgeable and detailed Instructors so if ANYONE you know want to learn Jiu Jitsu in an awesome environment where you’ll learn ALL the aspects of true Jiu Jitsu…… Striking,Kicks,Chokes,Throws,and ground Techniques I would highly recommend NorthCoast Jiu Jitsu Academy.

My child (6 y/o) started here over the summer and has been having a great time. The coaching staff are phenomenal. They have a good coach to learner ratio. Always attentive to what the learners are doing and practicing the various moves with each of them; lots of learning through repetition. I highly recommend NCJJC.

Although my experience was short lived due to moving for work, I made great connections with the instructors and other members. Great atmosphere, comfortable environment, and great people. Would recommend to anyone of any skill level. Wish you all the best!
As a total novice just starting out any combat sport can be intimidating. Strange clothes (the juijitsu gi) strange positions your body is in and learning how to do various submissions to beat your opponent. Kyle, Paul, PJ and the other instructors are fun to work with and make a concerted effort to remove the intimidation factor from it. Additionally they will tie the lessons into practical defensive usages. They allow you to move at your own pace to achieve an understanding of the lessons being taught that day. The rest of the club members are friendly and willing to work with each other be it practice or live rolls. Highly recommend if you want to give jujitsu a try.

Wanna learn how to choke someone out in under 9 seconds? Good. I have your attention. Tired of being bear hugged by bigger people? Want to learn basic bear hug defense that’ll have your attacker regretting their decision? This is the place. North Coast Jiu-Jitsu Club is the Jiu-Jitsu academy that all other academies strive to be. After a few mere classes, you’ll be so comfortable from the ground, that chairs will become meaningless. You’ll learn armbars, chokes, escapes, submissions, and even these weird things called “shrimps.” Join this gym, you won’t regret it.
The instructor for my class, Kyle, has a detailed and professional way to explain each technique as well as connect the technique to the reason the technique is used. The class had a prefect pace to give experienced students great repetitions and give new students the opportunity to work through the new technique. Great class!!!

I've been training here nearly a year now. Kyle is a great instructor and jiu jitsu practitioner. He breaks down technique to a very understandable level and his knowledge of the art runs deep. The North Coast jiu jitsu vibe is really relaxed and friendly. Definitely recommend. A hidden gem.
I've been going here for about 4 months and have had an excellent experience so far. Kyle does a great job at making the techniques easy to understand by breaking down each movement. Whether you are interested in self defense or sport jiu jitsu I would highly recommend North Coast Jiu Jitsu.

Very flexible schedule: you can choose morning or evening classes, or both. Classes are offered every day with additional hour of open mat after each class, so you will have plenty of opportunities to roll, drill, or ask questions. Consistent curriculum with great instructional videos, so that if you miss a class or just want to refresh your memory you can look it up online. Awesome BJJ academy!
Amazing gym for BJJ. Highly-educated instructors offer top-quality classes. Not only are the classes practical and informative, but they are fun, too. Far too often are martial arts gyms dominated by individuals that make the sport torturous; this gym has a great group of people that make one's experience worthwhile. Perfect for beginners, practitioners, and experts.
Quality instructors and a very clean facility! Great place to learn the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu jitsu; the atmosphere is very laid back and friendly. My little brother loves the kids class, and I like the adult class + yoga class. The competition is great, and it is the overall best bjj club I’ve ever been to!
The staff is very professional and friendly and provide top-notch instruction. They offer classes suitable to all levels of experience. My wife and daughter went through their women's self-defense workshop and walked out with a ton of confidence and practical self-defense skills.
I attended my first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class this morning at North Coast Jiu-Jitsu Club. The class was beginner friendly and focused on realistic self defense techniques. Kyle provided great instruction and a welcoming environment to individuals new to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So much so, that my wife plans to attend North Coast's Women's Self-Defense class on Sunday, February 24. I am already looking forward to my next class!
Trained here a handful of times! Great group however the mats at this school are so old and worn down that whenever it gets sweaty it’s impossible to keep your traction. Good beginner gym.
