A very high quality Grappling and BJJ club where everyone - from white to black belt - is very good and competent for their level. Instead of the usual "technique of the day" approach where you just hope to remember a random move, they use a system-based coaching. It’s much more structured and helps you actually understand how BJJ works as a whole.
The mats are a safe place to learn, but you’ll definitely be challenged every session. Just a heads-up on the gear: the adult classes are mostly No-Gi (which for many of us is advantage), but the kids' program does a mix of both Gi and No-Gi.
If you're looking for a gym that prioritises real skill and smart training over just "showing moves", this is the spot.
The Grapple Factory at Arana Hills is a great little grappling school for kids. The sessions are fun, informative, and well run, and the coaches clearly take great care of the kids. It’s a very inclusive environment where everyone is made to feel welcome.
Although grappling isn’t really my sport, friends and people I train with at morning gym absolutely love it. They all speak highly of the sport itself and, just as importantly, the people they train with — from complete beginners all the way through to more experienced practitioners.
The gym and weights area is on the smaller side, but it’s more than suitable for workouts. It might not look like much at first glance, but the coaches keep the training circuits inventive and fresh every week, which makes a big difference.
Highly recommend, especially for kids and families looking for a positive, supportive grappling school and gym.
Excellent jiu-jitsu gym with high level coaching. An exceptional crew of people train there and I found everyone to be very welcoming, helpful and respectful, particularly as a female entering a new gym.
I have trained at a few gyms before Grapple Factory, but it wasn’t until I joined here that I understood what it feels like to be part of a community & culture that genuinely cares about everyone’s growth.
What really sets this place apart is the coaching team. They consistently go above and beyond in ways that you don’t see everywhere. I have watched a coach put in the same energy for the kids every single week, and it’s obvious the kids and families keep showing up because of him.
I have had a coach take the time to point out my strengths and weaknesses and give me advice that actually made sense for me, another who stopped what he was doing just to help fix my form in the gym and didn’t think twice about giving me extra guidance.
I have watched them all take extra time with brand new people, teaching them the basics even if they never came back, and watched as they run back & forth from different mats at competition to make sure they are in the corner for their team, regardless of their level.
Just a few examples off the top of my head, but what I can say is GF genuinely cares about your progress, and they have created a culture without the ego you see at other gyms. So if you are looking for your next gym, give this place a go. Trust.
Grapple Factory is absolutely incredible! My kids have gained so much confidence since starting here. The classes are fun, safe really great vibes, the whole team is amazing with the kids. We are so lucky Nick our coach is one of the best coaches in Brisbane (another BJJ club told us that) not only is he patient and encouraging but he’s funny he has them all listening and knows exactly how to bring out the best in every child, you can really see how much he cares. If you’re looking for a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club for your kids, I can’t recommend Grapple Factory enough!
