Mr Busch is simply wonderful. He brings a stellar mix of humor and discipline to each class. It keeps the students focused and happily engaged. My second grader recently started at AMA Ballard and I didn't really know what to expect, but we've been blown away by the program and Mr Busch! I cannot say enough good things about AMA and Mr Busch. He is endlessly patient and kind and also keeps high expectations of the students. He is a skilled teacher and connects with the students. The program itself is also very thorough. Not only are the students getting great physical activity, but they also have a great social emotional component in every class. There is optional homework on the SEL topics and students can earn stars for their uniform by completing it. Highly recommend AMA Ballard!
My son has been going to Alpha Martial Arts Ballard for the last two years and had a great experience. Mr. Busch is a natural and talented teacher who encourages positivity and discipline while making it fun for the kids. I've heard of other schools where the classes are cancelled with limited notice but Mr. Busch is a great communicator and consistent/reliable with managing a busy schedule. We can't recommend AMA-Ballard and Mr. Busch more highly!
Mr Busch is a dedicated and compassionate teacher for my daughter’s karate class. She has progressed at a good pace learning the materials but has also learned that we have to practice to keep
Moving forward. He has always been patient with her and is helping the entire class to learn valuable life lessons. We look forward to going to class every week.

Mr Busch is terrific with kids. I had tried another martial arts place but Alpha Martial Arts exceeded anything I expected. Expect clear consistent instruction for my 2 kids and a lot of fun.
Keith Busch is an amazing martial arts instructor! My oldest daughter studied martial arts for several years. As a parent, I enjoyed the wholistic approach Alpha martial arts took in developing the skills of each participant. Keith has a great sense of humor during instruction, provides a challenging, engaging,and safe space for participants to build their skills.

Best instructor! Mr. Busch is so patient and fun to work with. As an adult, I had no prior karate experience but loved learning something knew that involved self defense. Watching him teach the teens not just karate, but respect and perseverence made me wish I had sent my kids to his dojo when they were younger!
Alpha Martial Arts Ballard is the love child of Kempo Karate (as thought by AMA founder Chris Herrman) and the very gifted Keith Busch, who established the Ballard branch over a decade ago.
My kids, and then I, have been his students for years, and it's been a growing and fulfilling experience. Keith has a knack running classes with children, keeping both a firm grip on the karate training and maintaining the experience fun for all (all this with a patience that...).
Training with him as an adult is both challenging and... challenging; there is always a next step and a new goal to reach. Training makes you better.
Mr. Busch is wonderful with the kids. I love that they learn life skills along with karate. There's a great balance of high expectations and space to be themselves, be vulnerable, try new things. Highly recommend.

We had a birthday party here for our 4 year old and his friends ages 5-8 years old and it was an absolute blast! My husband got really ill that day and could not attend or help, but luckily Alphas team set everything up for me all i had to do was bring the cake! Dominoes up the block often delivers there. It was seamless and super fun.
My son Eli started karate at AMA in 2017 at age 7 and continued training with Mr. Busch until he was 11 (2021). Eli’s experience with AMA gave him a great foundation both physically and mentally to continue on as a competitive athlete. Mr. Busch was a positive mentor in Eli’s life through out the difficulties of the pandemic and truly cared about our son.
My boys love going to Alpha Martial Arts! Mr. Busch is firm and fun and they respond very well to his style of teaching. My husband and I have been quite impressed with how well organized his classes are compared to others. Bonus - our boys sleep so well after every class! AMA is a true gem for our family!
Keith at AMA Ballard has a great style with kids in teaching them martial arts. I love the combination of exercise with life lessons and principles. My daughter Etta struggled to “stick” with a sport but she LOVES karate with Mr. Busch.

Our son took classes with Mr Busch for more than 5 years, eventually earning his black belt. It was simply incredible to watch him grow so much in terms of confidence, discipline, and responsibility. But he also learned so much about empathy, as well as respect and acceptance of others. The Alpha community is truly special and we’re so grateful for our time there.

Great karate program. Good balance of discipline, technique, forms, and life skills. My 8 yr old son just earned his blue belt today after being with AMA over 3 years now. So proud of his commitment and focus!
We love Alpha Martial Arts in Ballard. The instructors are amazing with the kids. The studio is bright, clean, and spacious with high ceilings. Our son also gives them a thumbs up saying he really likes it, it’s fun, and the instructors are nice.
We like the discipline they are instilling in our son and how it is helping him develop awareness of his body and movement, and intentionality. We plan on being part of the Alpha Martial Arts Family for years to come and are excited to see how our son develops from their leadership.
