Brazilian jiu jitsu fundamental classes combined with self defence
Dropped in for a morning class with Jack at Uncommon while staying in central London for work. Super friendly and welcoming, both from Jack and his students, high quality class structure and coaching, nice space and good vibes all around. Would definitely come back, and highly recommend to anyone else visiting London looking for a spot to roll in the middle of town!
This small gym in the heart of London has been an amazing place to start my journey. Everyone is very welcoming, and the atmosphere is super supportive. The smaller class sizes mean you’re not lost in the crowd, and the one-to-one attention from Jack and the coaches is what sets this place apart. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, this place offers a personal, focused approach you won’t find in bigger gyms. Highly recommend!
I travelled in from New York and was staying around 10 mins away. The space is really clean and everyone is really welcoming.
I did two no Gi classes in the morning, with both Coach Jack and Joe. The instruction is really clear and they break down each technique and explain common scenarios in each position.
If you work nearby or are just visiting London, I can only recommend uncommon Jiu Jitsu!
This will be the nicest building you will ever roll in unless you find yourself having to silently take down terrorists in the White House.
I travel a fair amount and love to drop in on gyms when I can, being in London for a week I was able to come out to Uncommon Jiu Jitsu for a morning class.
The training facility looks brand new, very clean mats, nice locker room, a place to easily get water and fill bottles. We started the class with some flow rolling and then into the learning section.
Jack was Professor for the morning class and while we went over a couple of passes I was a little familiar with, his explanation and attention to little details made them seem new. I was very impressed with his knowledge of not only the art itself but of different comp rules and how to respectfully apply pressure to encourage movement out of my opponent.
The free rolls began with us starting in the position of what we just learned and worked gradually to fully open rolls. My rolling partners were welcoming, technically adept, and provided a great mental and physical workout.
I left the gym hoping to make it back every day I can anytime I’m in London.
Jack, thank you again for the time and knowledge!
OSS!
This Jiu Jitsu gym is fantastic! The teaching is top-notch, with techniques that are authentic, practical, and clearly rooted in years of expertise. Every class is structured, detailed, and tailored to all skill levels, making it easy to learn and grow. The head coach Jack is not only highly skilled but also incredibly welcoming, creating an environment where everyone feels supported and encouraged. The people here are so friendly and inclusive—it truly feels like a second family. Whether you're a beginner or advanced, this gym is the perfect place to train and improve. Highly recommend!
