I've been taking my son here for a month now. We've tried other dojos in the area but non compare to the detail and style of Mr. Brown. The fact that Judo is also implemented with the ground work of jiujitsu I believe is vital oppose to basic take downs such as BJJ.

This self-defense training was amazing! It provided great instruction and allowed me to immediate practice the skills being taught. Gerard is very knowledgeable and relatable, making everything easy to understand and follow. If you have the opportunity to take one of his classes, invest in yourself and you will not be disappointed. You will leave more empowered to handle yourself should you be confronted with a threat.

Our students attended a workshop today and it was amazing! The instructors were very knowledgeable and worked well with the kids. We have children of all ages and abilities so it was great to see the instructors meet the children at whatever skill level they had. We will definitely be back!

I absolutely love the environment here. We work hard but we also laugh in the process. I just started in mid August and can honestly say it’s a safe learning environment. In each move we as students help each other and walk each other through the steps. Gerard Is an amazing instructor and helps whenever needed. He answers any and all questions with reasons why. It helps students of years as well as students of a few weeks. If you want to try jujitsu or any of the classes this is the spot to be. #NoSheepHere

One the best judgement free zones ever. No matter your race, gender or size. The atmosphere is amazing. & its hands on training at your pace. Every session is jammed pack with so much, you leave feeling like a spartan after your first day. But you have sooooo much fun, time will go by soooo fast it will keep you coming back. I give it 5 stars. Martial science I learned from Kage Ryu Jujitsu changed my life, changed my mind & it motivated me to be better.. thanks G & the Kage Ryu Jujitsu Team!

Loved the experience when I was there. The instructor (Mr. Brown)taught me a lot more in a week than what I’ve learned in combatives level 2. Definitely recommend to all of my friends on fort Jackson if you’re looking to learn more about jiu jitsu.

I have learned a lot working with G. Large Ryu Jujutsu is the best for women's self defense classes as well. I was able to use what I learned from class in a real life situation. I highly recommend.

The best experience ever. Mr.Brown is very professional and respectful. He provides you with the knowledge necessary to save your life delivered by a gentle giant. Not to mention he’s great with kids so you can make it a family affair and equip your children with life saving techniques that help them build character, learn self defense, and foster confidence. There are multiple events and workshops throughout the year to not only keep you on your toes but also involved with the local community. It’s really a hidden gem and a place you can call home. You learn life saving skills while getting in shape and gaining a close knit family. The ongoing experience is priceless and rare and definitely one that will keep you coming back for years and years!

Kage Ryu Jujitsu is a great school and atmosphere, that will challenge you and take you to the next level of your martial arts journey. Sensei Jerod Brown is well versed and knowledgeable in his craft and will constantly give you new challenges, techniques. Methods, with practical principles. I have grown myself tremendously in my 13 years attending this school. This is a place that not only teaches you but wants to see each and every person grow and become better. If your reading this I hope to see you soon (Warrior)

I am a student at Kage Ryu Jujitsu. Everyone is patient and professional. There are students of all skill levels at KRJ. If you are looking for a Jujitsu program that combines both technique and real world application look no further.

Kage Ryu Jujitsu completely changed my life. I am a survivor of DV & SA and since I have been training with Kate Ryu Jujitsu I have regained confidence, self esteem and security in myself. What I think sets this school apart from other schools is the close knit, family like bond that we have and the wisdom that we gain on top of the lessons that we learn. Sensei Brown is absolutely amazing and super knowledgable. I have lost weight, gotten stronger and gotten more agile as well. I highly recommend training at this school because it will change your life!

Kage ryu jujitsu in my most humble opinion the best marshal art school in Columbia and the surrounding areas. The school is filled with beautiful people with strong work ethics and they make you feel like your with family. I’ve tried other schools in the area and I can say without no hesitation their are no other school that will give you the skills need to defend yourself and your our family. I love kage ryu I’m positive you will too give them a try.
