Talented, generous instructors, a great facility, and a friendly atmosphere.
I didn't expect to ever be involved in something like jiu-jitsu, but I've found it to be challenging both physically and mentally. With individualized programs for women, kids, and general co-ed adult class, you are sure to find a group to fit your needs.
If I had to distill my experience into one phrase, it would be "competitive collegiality." You will be really worn out for the first few weeks of training. Yes, you're going hard trying to choke, joint lock, or gain position on other people, but afterwards, you will bump fists and genuinely thank your partner who was trying to do the same to you. The camaraderie and team spirit here are infectious, and a big component in what keeps you going.
Classes at Swampfox are also good for your ego, in that I think many of us have an overinflated sense of what we are capable of in a defensive situation. Here, you will have an opportunity to have your weaknesses shown to you on a nightly basis, in a friendly and structured way.
If you're on the fence about joining, my advice to you would be this: walking through the door the first time is the toughest part. If you can do that, all that follows is within your ability. If you're looking to impress others, go another route. If you want to improve yourself, Swampfox BJJ is the place to be.
Also the Krispy Kreme is literally right next door.
