Love Morgan (Love & Grace)

Excellent, respectful, efficient, effective, & safe BJJ instruction, techniques, environment, training, fitness, competition, sparring/rolling, etc. + fun had by all…straight from the lineage of one of the most renowned names in BJJ = Master Carlos Gracie, Jr. Highly recommend! Our 8-year old son started in December 2024 and he loves it! He will be entering his first competition in April. The owner and all of the Professors, Coaches, & trainees = create a family…we expect that our son, and eventually his twin sister, will be training here for years to come. Be there or be square…see you all on the mats! All the best!

Offering classes at 6am four days a week is crucial for me bc it's the only time of day I can consistently get to the gym to train. All of the professors and coaches are extremely knowledgeable and great at working with people of all ages and experience levels. I started JiuJitsu when my dad finally convinced me to step onto the mats. my journey began when I was 13 and i started in the women’s class at Gracie Barra in mckinney. My older brother had done JiuJitsu when he was younger and my dad had been training for about 6 months at this point so I thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong. I expected to walk into a serious environment with coaches/professors yelling, no room for mistakes, and just non inviting environment. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted by Professor Israel and Coach David, and all of the wonderful ladies in the class were really welcoming and inviting and worked with me so I could learn the curriculum instead of watching and being lost. About 6 months ago, my little brother, Trey started doing little champs and I started helping out the professors and coaching the littles. They are adorable and all of the parents are really nice and the family environment is unlike no other, it is outstanding! I struggle with really bad social anxiety and i’ve never really been able to talk to new people, but inside Gracie Barra, I am not afraid to go up to anyone and start a conversation because I know I will be met with respect and people willing to help. I would 100/10 recommend coming to Gracie Barra in Mckinney, TX! You will have an experience that you will never forget.

Combat sports are the hardest to train. Needless to say, any place that makes it easier yet effective is where you should train. If it's Brazilian Jiu-jitsu you're looking to train in for whatever reason - from getting active to getting deep into the sport, then Gracie Barra Mckinney is a great start. All the Professors and Coaches are top-notch, actively compete but most importantly teach fighters and non-fighters with the same passion. If you're a woman reading this, please know the women's circle here is genuinely welcoming and will help you get over your jitters starting such a, let's just say it out "intimate sport"! The opposite gender is no less in trying to make it an inclusive environment. There are fitness classes too if all technique is not your thing. I'm someone whose life revolves around martial arts gyms for a decade in different all contact combat sports - this is hands down one of the most structured, clean and committed to the sport Dojo in the area and am leaving a Review after a Year here so OSSU and hope to see you on the mats whenever you ready for it 🙌

I’ve been a member at many martial arts gyms and Gracie Barra Mckinney has been one of the best. The gym is by far the cleanest. The mats are cleaned multiple times a day and doesn’t have that musty smell most martial arts gyms have. We tried several gyms before enrolling our daughter. The instructors are all top notch and keep the classes fun for our daughter. Both my daughter and I are enrolled. All the students are very friendly and we’ve both made many friends. Highly recommend if you can get in. (We had to get on a waitlist to enroll her).

I can’t say enough great things about GB McKinney!!! My daughter has been training here since the beginning of September & is loving every minute of it. Her confidence is through the roof!! I can literally see it in every aspect of her life; trac, volleyball, grades etc. The Coaches are super attentive to the kids’ training & are very detailed in their demonstrations. The leadership is also reflected in the other higher belt students as they allow the lower belts to work the skills that were shown with just the right amount of resistance. If you’re interested in seeing what jujitsu is all about, Gracie Barra in McKinney is the best place to check out!

As a guy in my 40’s who has not trained any martial arts, I feel good about myself every time I complete my day training at this school. My health has also improved in a lot of ways, getting my bp lower thru raising my cardio and getting my exercises in, eating healthy and minimizing stress from my desk job due in large part to attending this school. This is the best place to not only take your children, but to join as a family. They have a great structured lesson plan for all ages. No other BJJ gyms around have the detailed curriculum like Gracie Barra. All the staff is very professional and dedicated to be successful with whatever goal you have for joining BJJ. They take personal pride in coaching . They include special classes in the curriculum such as parents class to join in with your kids. I’m addition to the parents class, they include how to deal with bully’s in a safe responsible manner. If you don’t have children. They have a ton of classes for adults with class times to accommodate all schedules. They also offer great self defense classes for women. I’m in my 40s with a husband, kids and a pug. My husband always wanted to do jiu-jitsu. He wanted US/family to do jiu-jitsu. But I said NO. I didn’t even know what jiu-jitsu was. So when we went to Gracie Barra McKinney, I was going to join their fitness class (3 days a week) while he goes to jujutsu class. BUT…… as soon as I signed up, their weekday fitness class was no longer offered (currently Saturday only). So I said Ugghhhhh……fine….I’ll try jiu-jitsu. But let me tell you how incredibly fun jiu-jitsu is. I cannot stop going to classes. I can tell that every piece of my body and muscles are happy😊 If I have stress that day, I just ‘break fall’ and hit the tatami mat hard. The Tatami mat will absorb all your stress for you😉 Learning new techniques and body movement just tickles a part of your brain that you probably have never used before. I used to hate Sundays because busy week starts all over again the next day. Don’t get me wrong, I love my profession but you have days you just want to crawl up in bed all day. But Sunday hasn’t been too bad ever since I started jiu-jitsu. I look forward to attending Monday class. It is fun and refreshing. Ever since I started jiu-jitsu, suddenly I am able to get my work done super efficiently because I don’t want to miss my jiu-jitsu class. I now wake up early feeling excited instead of drained. Why Gracie Barra McKinney? You know it’s the right place when you see students from various back grounds and wide range of ages. You know it’s the right place when higher belts do not mind teaching you, willing to help you also get better and learning together. You know it’s the right place when professor/coaches are always on the mat with you side by side teaching you patiently. If you want to know what I’m talking about (or want to feel great on Sundays), I highly recommend joining GB McKinney.

For my family and I Gracie Barra McKinney fulfills our needs to learn Jiu-Jitsu. It has quickly become a family endeavor and the classes offered cover a wide range of ages and abilities. The professors and coaches are great to learn from. Coach Israel says he’s the best so I’m just repeating what I heard. The culture of the class fosters learning and support for our martial arts journey. One class I might be slowly reviewing techniques with a higher belt and the next class I may be sparring like it’s Mortal Kombat. The culture is such that you’ll find people to match what it is you want for that day, not everyone is trying to crush you. Overall, it is what you make of it and for my family and I it’ll be a life long journey.

I enrolled myself and my 6 year old son at Gracie Barra McKinney this year. There are a lot of well reviewed local Jiu-Jitsu academies and it was a hard decision to select one, but I was very impressed by the environment, structure, and attendance numbers when we visited as guests at Gracie Barra. I was initially more motivated to have my son attend regularly and planned to do my part to attend some classes as an example to him. Unsurprisingly he LOVES his classes (he says he wishes he could go "every day"). I really enjoy mine as well, much more than I anticipated. I regularly attend 2-4x a week. I think I got 5 classes in once. It's my favorite personal activity now and have found that the incredible structure and consistency provided by the Professor and Coaches is what makes it easy to commit to. Becoming a member has been an incredibly positive addition to our family and lives.

I recently had the pleasure of joining GB McKinney. The level of professionalism and dedication shown by the coaches is truly impressive. They are always on hand to offer guidance, encouragement, and support, ensuring that every individual received personalized attention to help them achieve their BJJ goals. What stood out to me was the gym's friendly and positive learning environment, catering to kids and adults alike, regardless of gender. The coaches are approachable, and the atmosphere is inclusive, creating a sense of community that made it easy to make new friends and workout partners. The gym also has a well-defined teaching methodology that focused on technique, repetition and safety, ensuring that every individual is exercising correctly to avoid injury. The coaches are knowledgeable and patient, always taking the time to explain every move, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable and confident. One of the most remarkable aspects of this gym is the great team atmosphere. There is a strong sense of camaraderie among the members, with everyone helping each other and pushing each other to excel. It created a sense of healthy competition that drove us all to achieve more. Finally, the gym is very clean and organized, making it a pleasure to workout in. The staff kept the equipment and facilities spotless, ensuring that everything is always in perfect working order. Overall, I would highly recommend GB McKinney to anyone looking for a positive, safe, and effective BJJ and Fitness experience. The qualified and motivated coaches, friendly and positive learning environment, well-defined teaching methodology, great team atmosphere, and clean and organized gym make it an outstanding choice for anyone looking to learn BJJ and achieve their goals. This school is a good place to be. In a couple of months, I will accumulate 2 year’s training here. I was surprised by the award of my Blue Belt last month, but the White Belts still teach me more than I teach them. I’m not what one would call a natural roller. For context, I achieved 70-year-old-albatross-around-the-neck status a few months back. I am still, and probably will remain, the slowest progressing student in the school. What’s important though is that I’m not nearly as slow on the uptake as I used to be. Sometimes, I even have something helpful to show my workout partners. This is a gratifying thing, but they know enough to ignore the things I offer that are not helpful. Then, without giggling, they try to help me get better. Sometimes they laugh at my jokes, sometimes I incentivize them to tap or nap, and this is called progress. I also benefit from weekly one-on-one sessions with a coach, that is, unless my spouse’s social calendar interferes. Skills, patiently shared, are what come from this place. Skills monotonically grow here. This school will have a hard time running me off. One coach even surmised that I might be pretty good at BJJ by the time I hit 80. /Dan Allen.

I highly recommend checking out GB McKinney. Since arriving I've only ever been greeted with warm welcomes from everyone there. With over 400 students, the gym has a great community feel and I've yet to encounter any negative attitudes. The coaches are top-notch, they're friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about their instruction. Professor Ignacio is an excellent instructor and incredible athlete. He's a perfect balance of being detail-oriented while also getting to the point so that you can drill. The atmosphere is motivating but approachable, and safety is always a top priority. I wasn't looking forward to finding a new gym when I moved here, but these guys have made it rather painless. If you're looking for a new place to train, I highly recommend checking them out. Grace Barra McKinney has been incredibly transformative for my 8 and 11 year-old boys. They not only have better conditioning and overall health than before they joined, they're being taught numerous life and competitive lessons like confidence, discipline (this has helped my 8 year-old with ADHD greatly), patience, ability to remain calm in an uncomfortable situation to work their way out of it, etc. Training in jiu-jitsu has also helped them to excel in their other sports by helping them with their hand-eye coordination, conditioning, etc. I love the passion the coaches have for the sport, but more importantly, I have a true appreciation for their 'firm but fun' approach to training and development for the kids. As parents we couldn't be more pleased.

Hi, So, I have been attending the Gracie Barra school in McKinney for a few months now. Professor Inacio, Coach Israel, and Coach David are really awesome! They are super welcoming. They are very knowledgeable, and they are always teaching, pushing, and encouraging all the students. All of the students are super nice. The environment is perfect to learn and practice Jiu-Jitsu. As far as how attending this school has impacted my life, I've gotten mentally, physically, and spiritually stronger. I can feel my confidence growing. I've lost some weight. I don't really drink alcohol as much. I feel a lot more laid back. And, my every day life has gotten a lot easier. Maybe, a little less stressful. I never really knew anything about Jiu-Jitsu before I joined Gracie Barra McKinney. And, I am super glad I joined this school. I learn a lot from the classes. And, I find myself wanting to learn more about Jiu-Jitsu. I believe overall this Gracie Barra school is amazing. And, I am really enjoying my classes. I recommend this Jiu- Jitsu school to anyone. All the way up to your super experienced Jiu-Jistu practitioners to your beginning white belts. I hope to see you all on the mats!

Structured, safe, fun, and great coaches and professor. They actually want to see you get better, not just roll around on the mat and leave. They'll push you to do your best. I thoroughly enjoy attending as many classes as I can throughout the week with all the variety of options available. The biggest initial deciding factor was the availability of their "beginners" or foundations group, though many different levels all train with the beginners. Fellow students are also there determined to learn and help you learn without judgment. I've been attending for a few months and have found a sense of community. It's also cool to have the option to go to any GB location when traveling; just bring your gi.

Like Goldilocks, this place is just Right! We looked at SEVERAL gyms, and Gracie Barra of McKinney really stood out. There are a lot of 'fake' martial arts places, where a kids under 10 have 'black belts'. Those places looked nice, but just felt like a joke. We wanted a REAL martial arts gym that could teach our son to defend himself, enrich his character, and a place with GOOD ROLE MODELS!! The key factor that told us, "This is the Place!", was the staff. Coach Israel & Coach David greeted us, and made us & our son feel like family from day one. Professor Inacio is a perfect gentleman, and both treats the children with respect & demands respect from them. The facilities are very neat, well lit, and cleaned twice a day so you don't have to worry about your kids training in a grungy dungeon. They are also about to double the size of their training facility!(Can't wait) The other members have ALL been very nice as well. Both the kids & their parents! There are a lot of gyms you can take your kids, but there are few places as well rounded & well run as Gracie Barra of McKinney. If you want the best, I recommend Gracie Barra HANDS DOWN!!

I absolutely love this gym. I was nervous about taking classes here at first but after my first class I couldn't wait to go back. Their slogan, "Jiu-jitsu for everyone, " truly means Everyone. Regardless of your expertise or how for you are when you join you learn something new at every class. They break it down into steps that you are able to follow. The professor and coaches take time to help each of their students succeed. Everyone supports each other and you always feel welcome. I highly recommend joining or coming to a free session to check it out.

I’ve been a fan of Brazilian Jiujitsu for a long time, but I never had the time or dedication to join a gym. I knew I wanted my son to have opportunities for an engaging activity that I didn’t have a chance to do as a kid. After the first trial class, my son was hooked. My son was 4 when he joined and I worried he wouldn’t take class seriously. It’s amazing seeing Professor Inacio, Coach Israel, and Coach David implement an engaging and unique blend of drilling techniques, instilling discipline, but letting the kids have fun. Gracie-Barra McKinney is a family oriented gym. The Professor and Coaches know the name of every kid and take the time to help them through the challenges of learning complex moves. My wife and I signed up a month later and discovered that most of the parents also attend adult classes. I’ve been having a great time getting in shape, losing weight, learning, and meeting the great people that come to class. Everyone is supportive and focused on helping each other. Whatever you goal is, whether it be getting in shape or practicing to compete, you’ll find support here. When I miss a day of training due to work, I feel a void. Training has become a part of my life and I credit that to Professor Inacio and his team of talented Coaches. If you’re on the fence about finding an activity to get in shape, or want to try something new, I wouldn’t hesitate to stop by for a trial class. Be prepared to sweat!

I highly recommend GB McKinney if you’re looking for a structured program for kids or adults whether it’s for self defense, sports BJJ or overall wellness. Gracie Barra differentiates from other schools because of its defined curriculum for different levels and consistency from school to school. This leads to a program that progresses within each week and from week to week. Professor Inacio has won multiple gold medals in Gi and NoGi world/international, national and local IBJJF tournaments. He is extremely technical and regardless of class size is able to constantly evaluate technique and provides feedback during each class. You won’t get lost in the crowd, he cares about developing your technique. This academy runs flawlessly with Coach Israel and David leading or supporting technical classes, driving students to push themselves and driving the inclusive culture. Mats are ALWAYS clean and they emphasize good hygiene. You won’t find a better school.

Wonderful team! The professor and coaches do such a great job with the kids and the kids really have a great time training. I visited several other jiu jitsu dojo’s before signing up with GB and this place had the best structure and teaching environment for the kids. This is not a day care - the kids are actually learning and following the professor and coaches instruction. Highly recommend this place for training for kids and adults.

I starting going to this school in May of 2021 so it’s been about four months. In these four months I’ve learnt an immense amount of jiu jitsu through thorough instructions and a very friendly environment. Everyone here is here for you to learn and wants you to get better. All this training has also seeped its way through into my personal life. I’m eating better, working out more, my blood pressure is down, and my overall mood is better. Thank you to Coach David, Coach Israel, Prof Inacio, and all the helpful students!

Been a member at Gracie Barra McKinney for a couple of months now and absolutely love the instruction by the Coaches and Professor Inacio. All questions get answered. All instructors are patient and obviously passionate about BJJ. Multiple training times throughout the day so that I can come when my schedule allows. So glad that I can finally protect myself against my wife! (She's been a member for 6 months).

Professor Inacio is one of the best. We've all had teachers who are teaching because they just need the money. Professor Inacio teaches because he has a passion to change people's lives through Jiu Jitsu.

I have been training here for 7 months and couldn't be happier! Professor Inacio and his team of coaches are awesome! They are constantly watching everyone and there to help anytime needed. One of the many pluses to this gym is that you can go as much as you want for one single price and there are multiple training times on most days. I highly recommend this gym for any level!

My 2 kids (5 and 3) have been attending for 2 months and love the coaches and program. Each class is productive and well structured. I can't stress enough how great the Professor and coaches are and how well designed the programs are for progression and building skills.

Gracie Barra McKinney has the environment you would expect from this AMAZING team. My daughter attend their HQ location in Irvine, CA and we recently relocated to the area. First day in we felt at HOME and immediately fit right in. Their level of professionalism with the children is like no other here and I am very impressed with DEDICATIONS the coaches and Professor Inacio show with ALL the children. I am so impressed with the school that I have recently myself joined the team and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of GB.McKinney!

The team that has been built at Gracie Barra McKinney is one of a kind. I enrolled my son into one of their kid classes (ages 3-6). From the first trial class, they demonstrated how excited they were to have him join the team. Each time he walks into the school he is welcomed. This school stresses that even though 3-6 is a hard group to teach at times, this program is meant to actually teach them fundamentals versus acting as a daycare. The professor and coaches want to work with parents to help the kids excel and to be better human beings. I have witnessed kids who may not attend the same schools, build friendships and embrace the culture of a team by congratulating each other when a teammate receives a promotion. If there is one take away from this, my son loves it so much that I have enrolled myself.

We love Gracie Barra in Mckinney! My son (9 yrs old) has attended this school for the last 4 months and has learned so much with discipline, strength and good core training all while having fun with the Professor and the Coaches. I love that they all have their own teaching style which is integrated throughout the week. We go 5x per week and my son looks forward to it every single time. Don’t miss out, you can be a student or you can hang back (like me) and watch your kid from the sideline.

Like most people during the pandemic, I was looking for something to motivate me to become more physically active, but what I got in return was much more than what I expected. Professor Inacio, the coaches and every single member of the GB McKinney family welcomed me with open arms and helped me fine something that I didn’t know I needed. If you’re looking for a welcoming atmosphere while learning to be a better you, this is the place! #OSS 🤙

This school is awesome for everyone! Whether you are wanting to learn self defense, get into shape, compete, gain confidence, establish discipline and focus….Professor Inacio, Coach Israel, and staff work to help you attain your goal. The Little Champions II all the way to the Advanced Adult offerings have classes that can fit most schedules. The structure is key to keeping the inexperienced safe and without injury, and it is taken seriously. The competitors can excel, as they have shown in the last tournament! The cleanliness and rules about going on and off the mats are big draws for me! 😀 I love the weekly newsletters, private lesson opportunities and the addition of the app! Big things are happening here. Glad to be part of the family!

I joined GB McKinney as a transfer student after having relocated to the area. This has been a great school to be part of and continue my Jiu Jitsu journey. The coaching staff is very committed, they really want to help each student achieve their goals. Head professor Inacio is passionate about teaching and well disciplined. The mats are always clean and facility is kept in excellent condition. Great to see this school continue to grow in the community. Proud to be part of it!

We love Gracie Barra McKinney, Professor Inacio and the coaches care about the kids and students overall development, not just growing their knowledge and understanding of BJJ. Highly recommend.

Professor Inacio is one of the best instructors I’ve ever had. He has taught my daughter jiu jitsu for the past 4 years and we could not be more pleased with his instructions. He is very technical and informative. He knows how important it is to build a good foundation to prevent injuries and roll safely. Children do well in his program because it is structured. He has taught my daughter focus & discipline! The school itself is incredibly clean. Restrooms are extremely clean! Very nice mats! Nicely ventilated space! I highly recommend this school for both children and adults interested in jiu jitsu. I can’t say enough great things about Professor Inacio and his school. We cannot wait to return.
