Amazing kids program and family oriented atmosphere. I can't say enough about this academy. I constantly recommend it as a place for kids to learn self-defense and build confidence. The schedule also makes it easy to train as an adult, whether you need something in the early morning hours, midday, or evening.
The kind of place where the mats are as welcoming as the instructors. Coach B, Cutter, and Issac are black belt ninjas with hearts of gold. Whether you're looking to break a sweat or break a submission hold, this spot has you covered.
I’ve been to jiu jitsu academies all over the country and nothing comes close to the atmosphere of Sabre. The team is truly like a tight knit family. Coach Bryant goes above and beyond and his passion for the sport is shown through his commitment to making sure every student who steps on the mats feels safe and comfortable. I’m grateful for Coach Hazel, who facilitated the women’s only class and consistently made sure I was comfortable and confident before leaving class. She is a great representative of the sport and the entire reason I’ve stuck with it. In addition to jiu jitsu classes, Sabre often has “white belt workshops” which were incredibly helpful in my first few months of training.
All around, Sabre is a great place to learn jiu jitsu and I can’t wait to come back to visit!
I was worried to start, delayed signing up, thinking it may be too cliquy or uninviting…until I finally went in for my first class and quickly discovered my fears were only fears and EVERYONE was very friendly, welcoming, inviting, inclusive and outgoing! I couldn’t have been more thrilled with my experience.
The academy is extremely clean, well maintained and there is plenty of parking.
If you’re looking to start your journey or continue your journey in BJJ Sabre is your place!!!
Sabre jiu jitsu has changed my life for the better. Such a warm and welcoming gym. From day one the upper belts would pull me aside and show me the ropes to get me comfortable. They have some of the best hours to work with my crazy schedule and being a father and husband. Not to mention you’re learning from a world champion
Visited a Sunday open mat this past weekend and really enjoyed my time there.
Emailed Professor Bryant and he was very responsive.
Everyone was really cool, rolled with a few folks. Good mix of belts, mostly high belts which was awesome. Saw lots of judokas and stand up practice.
Moved to the Bay Area in 2015, the owner and I are from the same island of Guam. Family means everything, and when you join Sabre, you become family. The Jiu Jitsu is also some of the best in the Bay Area.
An amazing place to learn BJJ. It's lead by an amazing human being Bryant Pangelinan. The environment at Sabre is an amazing place and you feel the family atmosphere when youre in the gym. Everyone welcome. They have amazing coaches and an awesome kids class. If you're looking to start training come in ASAP!
This place is like a second home for me. I learn from everyone there, experienced or new. If you are experienced, there are plenty of people who compete that can bring a new aspect to your jiu jitsu. If you have never tried jiu jitsu but have considered it, everyone is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Both my wife and I train here, and she enjoys the gym just as much. There is a dedicated woman's only class on Tuesdays that she enjoys. All the coaches are fantastic, all of them will make you better.
Love Coach Kola and Coach Sam and so do my 2 boys! Love his Coaching style and Bjj technique as well as the old school martial arts "respect" he's teaching my boys!
