I visited Northside while I was in town and it was a good time with good instruction. Looking forward to dropping in again the next time I get a chance. The space is very nice and clean with good mats.

Testimony: I’m so grateful my new Professor, Patrick Dodd, just opened up his own gym, I feel like it is the result of a prayer that has been answered. I’ve been training BJJ for almost a year, and I’ve felt compelled for sometime to check out a new gym, so back in the fall and early winter I had the opportunity to check out ATT a few times which was where I met Patrick, I immediately felt gravitated towards training there but with I-40 closed and coming from Wolf Laurel, NC it didn’t feel like an efficient scenario. Fast forward a couple of months later, I’m driving past the Montford deli on merimon and I see and ad for something like “North Side Jiu Jitsu, Patrick Dodd” and I immediately became excited since it’s in the area of North Asheville and only 35min from where I live. So here I am starting my third week at NSJJ and this place already feels like my BJJ home, no doubt. I really value his approach to teaching, he breaks down the techniques and moves in a way that I feel is very comprehend-able and easily conveyed. He is honorable, humble, and patient, someone I am developing deep reverence for. I encourage anyone interested in trying or finding a BJJ gym to check it out. If you’re looking for a down to Earth community, and a place where you feel like you can grow, this may be the place for you!

100% recommend Northside Jiu-Jitsu! My family has worked with Coach Paddy for 5 years now. My kids are essentially growing up under his training. His attention to detail in teaching Jiu-Jitsu makes it fun and understandable. He has also coached all of us in competition and has a winning way about him. We are grateful to be on our martial arts journey under his tutelage and wouldn't want anyone else.

Love this place. Great Jiu Jitsu, excellent atmosphere in a chill, nonjudgmental environment. Paddy is the best instructor in Asheville IMO.

Our four year old son started here with Patrick and it has been an excellent experience for all of us. The gym is brand new and has ample space for the 4 - 5 year old group to practice. The class is structured around learning basic technique and having a lot of fun. Patrick has a great deal of tools to work with beginners and the kids listen to him which is not easy work. We are so lucky to have this new studio in North Asheville. I wish them many years of success.
