I've been training at Samper Fortis BJJ for almost three months now, and it’s easily one of the best gyms in San Antonio. They offer a solid variety of classes—Gi, No-Gi, and Judo—with three different adult class times every day, so it's easy to find something that fits your schedule. What really stands out is the number of black belt instructors, each with their own teaching style, which gives you different perspectives on BJJ. The environment is super welcoming, and everyone—from the coaches to the students—is friendly, helpful, and supportive. The gym is kept really clean, with the mats sanitized after every class. I believe, they’re the only gym in San Antonio with spring-loaded mats, which make a huge difference when training Judo and doing takedowns. If you're looking for a place to train, improve, and be part of a great community, I highly recommend Samper Fortis BJJ!

Super friendly school. Visited while I was in town for one day. They did not charge me for a drop-in like other gyms which I appreciate as I’m on a budget. Will visit again. Good jiu-jitsu technique too

I have been training at Semper Fortis for about a year, almost daily. It's my home away from home. Profs Saad and Suay are such awesome people, and they've gathered a community of equally amazing people of all belts. The teaching available is comprised of varied styles from the owners, assisting professors and upper belts, all helpful and accommodating. They've worked with me patiently the whole time, modifying techniques for my physical limitations. I cannot recommend them highly enough, this is a gem of a place.

Having experienced a few BJJ schools in my journey, I can confidently say that Semper Fortis Jiu Jitsu stands head and shoulders above the rest. The facility is impeccably clean, creating a comfortable environment to train in. However, it's the people that truly make the experience memorable. The instructors possess a genuine passion and expertise that shines through in every session. Equally impressive is the camaraderie amongst the students, fostering a supportive community where everyone can thrive. Without a doubt, Semper Fortis is the pinnacle of excellence in the world of Jiu Jitsu. Highly recommended!

I was traveling to San Antonio for a few weeks while I was working temporarily in the area and was seeking a BJJ gym to train at. My google hits were a bit overwhelming as there are a lot of BJJ gyms in SA. After some research, I came across Semper Fortis Jiu Jitsu where Professors Saad and Suay Al-Aziz who were both military veterans. That was a good reason for me to go check it out. After meeting the professors, they allowed me to train for my three week duration at no cost, even after I offered. I’m five training sessions in two weeks in so far, and I have seen numerous talented and professional assistant professors (also black belts), numerous brown belt assistant instructors who regularly ran training after Professor Al-Aziz’s guidance and focus for the week, and also former Olympians in Judo. This gym is stacked with world class and competitive athletes who are humble, open, and welcoming to new and young students. I saw plenty of high school athletes who also trained here after school. I especially enjoyed open-mat sparring after the class was over. The only bad thing I have to say about Semper Fortis Jiu Jitsu, is that it’s not my home BJJ gym. I really enjoy training there and wish I could stay. Overall, I highly recommend this Jiu Jitsu gym for ANYONE, young or old, that will train you safely and professionally.

I recommend training at Semper Fortis Jiu- Jitsu. If you are unsure about joining, I will say come out to train and try the free trial. It will be a great experience to start your Jiu Jitsu journey. Jiu Jitsu is a great way to exercise both mentally and physically. Semper Fortis Jiu Jitsu has a positive learning environment that will help you develop mental and physical skills through Jiu Jitsu training. Professor Saad and his students create a professional environment of learning. There are no egos in the training environment and everyone in this gym is there to help you learn. You are treated as part of the family from the moment you step into the gym to learn. The atmosphere is a truly genuine family-oriented place to learn. After a week you will begin you will see your self-confidence improve, physical strength and social interaction improve. You will begin to feel healthy and start getting in shape while making friends and having fun along the away. Thank you Semper Fortis Jiu Jitsu

Fantastic hospitality! professor Saad and the others made it feel like home, I just fell right into line here like I had been there before. I just got back into Jui Jitsu, but I had travel work time coming up, I didn't want to lose that mentality and progress so I asked my coach for a place he recommended while in San Antonio, immediately, he said to go here--for good reason. He paired me with a close match and we went through about 4-5 variations of the movement of the session. I have some work to do, but that's a part of the journey! Bonus points for watching the judo throws being practiced in the back, and it was great to run into someone there that I met from my home!

The short answer, I can not say enough good things about Semper Fortis. on a scale of 1-5 stars, they deserve a 10! I have wanted to get into Jiu Jitsu for over 10 years. I have always talked myself out of it. At least once a week I would mention that I wanted to join a gym to my wife. Finally she got tired of hearing it, bought me a GI and told me to go. I showed up with the GI still in the plastic. I walked up to Saad and Suay and said "I have no idea what I'm doing" without hesitation they explained everything and helped me get started. Quickly getting me into the class. I left the first class knowing I went to the right place. I also left knowing I had learned what all this meant. They have built an environment that follows the path of helping the next person in line. Every person in this gym wants to see you succeed and get better. Not a single time did anyone in the gym not take the time to talk to me or help me. The members of this gym take their own time to help you. They ensure you understand what you're doing and why. Everyone is patient and polite. The atmosphere here is so welcoming no matter who you are. This is why they should get 10 stars. It's not just about the owners. It's the culture they have created here. 10 stars because of the owners, the facility, the education, and equally important, the membership!

As a former member of the U.S. Navy that was always traveling, ive trained in dozens of gyms all over the world and I have to say Semper Fortis Jiu Jitsu was the most pleasurable experience. In all my years of jiu jitsu, muy thai, and wrestling experience dropping in and training at a new gym is always a nerve racking experience. As a former sailor himself, Saad and his wife Suay were so welcoming and made me feel comfortable as the odd man out. The instruction was clear and to the point, and the rolls were even better. I came here looking for a martial arts school for my early school aged child. This school was everything I hoped for and more. Regretfully my child didn't want to continue but I thought I'd post a review for anyone looking for a program. The school allows several free visits and provides a uniform for the classes. The classes are well organized and every new kid is partnered with a more seasoned student who mentors them through the lesson. Everyone is so positive and encouraging, that my child never felt left out or lost. The rates are very reasonable and the class times broad enough for most schedules.

This family changed my life! I called and asked if I could try a class and this family gave me 30 days and a Gi to train for free. After that the cost of the class and my own Gi was worth every penny. Suay and Saad are the ones who run this FAMILY! The most down to earth, good hearted people to know. Everyone who trains there is focused on their progression but treats you like you have always been going there. The training is phenomenal. Here is what I mean: You warm up first and every step of the way someone will help you if you are having trouble. You get to learn at least 3-4 techniques that night and once you have enough experience you get to roll (sparring). For your monthly fee you get access to Jiu-Jitsu everyday of the week, you get to train no-GI, and you get access to Judo training twice a week! I have relocated to Tampa, FL and I pay almost double and dont get access to this variety. At this school ALL belts train together and are not seperated. You get to learn all types of techniques. I even sat and watched the kids classes before my class started. Many people have their kids train here and then train right after that class. Suay is great with the kids! This is a very clean facility and a great family atmosphere. I can't say enough about this place that started me on a journey to a better life. Contact them because you wont regret it! I can't wait to go back to San Antonio to spend time with them again!

A really nice husband and wife team run this school. The environment is very welcoming. Very technical Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction. An added bonus is that they have three BJJ black belts who train there. They also have a couple of Judo black belts train at the school and have Judo class twice a week. After every BJJ class they open the mats for about an hour of sparring and all three BJJ black belts regularly roll with the students. My only complaint is that the school is too far from my house and I can not make the commute from the west side of San Antonio to the school's location on the east side everyday, so I had to find another school for my regular training.

I came to San Antonio for 10 weeks on business. My first priority on arrival was a place to train. I walked into this school and was welcomed like an old friend, and treated like family from that day forward. I love this school. The Jiu Jitsu, attitudes and family atmosphere are everything that attracted me to Gracie Jiu Jitsu from the beginning. Professor Saad and his wife Suay are excellent martial artists and excellent people. It is clear they strive to develop the same qualities in their students. Whether you are looking to begin training or continue your journey, you owe it to yourself to check out this school before going elsewhere. I have my own club at home and they will always be home, but my time at this club will always be a cherished memory.

I've had the opportunity to train at multiple different gyms and enjoy Brazil-021's atomosphere and technical approach to Jiu-Jitsu. For the beginners, Coach Saad and Coach Suay are accommodating, inviting and will work to foster your growth in Jiu-Jitsu without being intimidating or overbearing. For the advanced practitioners, high level girls and guys train there, and the emphasis on technique will most certainly add to your capabilities whether it be a focus on competition or self-defense. In sum, you're receiving high level instruction at Brazil-021 from, in my opinion, the best coaches in San Antonio.

I was fortunate enough to find this place through a friend while I was training for work in San Antonio. The environment here is surpassed by none. Going to a new gym to train can be intimidating, but not so here. Everyone (the owners/instructors and students) were incredibly welcoming. The facilities are clean, well-kept, and thoughtfully laid-out. The instruction is top notch. If I have the opportunity to return to SA, I will be back!
