One of the best jujitsu places in new York city. If you are looking for just a place to practice and not make friends then this isn't the place for you. Everyone here is treated like family. With two amazing kids coaches and a large amount of adult instructors. Definitely highly recommended 💪🏻💪🏻

I visited AKB NYC (5 Boro Fighthaus) twice now as an out of state visitor who trains under another AKB gym in my home state. The first time was early 2023, and the most recent time in March of 2024. Each time I was met with hospitality and a good time. I can't say enough good things about the people and comradery had at this gym. Anytime I am in NYC, I shall be visiting this gym each time. Posted is a picture from my first visit (I don't have one from the second visit).

My son's have been attending the Killer Bees for a few months. We love it here. Everyone treats one another like family. This place is filled with respect, discipline, and an ambitious love for the sport. In a short amount of time, my children have absorbed so much information and they possess the right tools to defend themselves. The professors are patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend it here!

I’ve been training at 5boro Fighthaus for 3 years now and it’s been and continues to be a great experience. Not only are all the instructors knowledgeable and passionate about Jiujitsu and MMA, but they also care deeply for their students. Everyone who decides to become part of the organization gets treated with respect no matter your level of experience or lack there of. We support each other inside and outside of the gym. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a place where you are treated like family.

5boro has been a second home to me. Ive never taken ANY fighting classes as a kid. I am not the most aggressive or nor was I the most athletic. I think the VERY MOST IMPORTANT thing in this gym was how they accommodate you. It was very important for me to feel comfortable enough to learn how to fight while being physical with someone. Both Instructors and students are EXTREMELY patient. If it wasnt for their patience and their consistent effort to help me feel comfortable than i wouldnt have survived in a martial arts gym. I got very lucky with this gym, I highly recommend checking it out and giving it a chance. I, as a person whos never trained to fight can understand how one will feel intimidated but can honestly say its not only been the best experience but the most healthiest. Happily from 240lb to 170lb; 5boro has helped me lose the weight through their courses. From coach Luis Martinez, Elkin Ordenana (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) to Mario Ramirez and Erik Vincente (Muay Thai); All coaches are fully involved. 5boro has been an extremely life changing experience. Definitely worth the trial classes and sticking through it.

Friendly staff and several highly knowledgably instructors. And most importantly feels like home this place! If you are looking for well-rounded training for both adults and kids in Jij Jitsu, Kick boxing, Cardio and Judo, check out this school for yourself with free introduction classes. By the way, their rates are really competitive for the type of training package they offer. I have been training here for the last 7 years under 2nd degree lead Black Belt Instructor Professor Luis Martinez who have led the school through many successful Ibjjf tournaments among so many other top competitions. I would definitely recommend this school so check them out if you are in the area.

Everyone has different criteria when judging a gym, my personal checklist includes: Cleanliness Staff technical knowledge Staff attitude Cleanliness- 5 STARS ... as most know martial Arts gyms can easily become basteria cesspools. That’s not the case at 5 boro, they disinfect and wash the gym religiously. Upon entering you can tell they don’t cut corners on cleanliness. Staff technical knowledge- 5 stars... the schools lead black belt/professor (Luis Martinez) has won several gold medals in IBJJF competitions, the striking coach (Erick) has won several boxing championships, the other coaches / instructors (Freddy, Elkin, Pablo) have all had professional and amateur fight/competition experience providing a wealth of knowledge to all who come to train. Staff attitude - 5 stars... after the first class you can tell this isn’t just a gym but more of a community/family. Every from the instructors to the students is so warm and welcoming. They definitely promote a positive training / learning environment. If you’re looking for a clean, professional training environment that also has a warm inviting familiar feel then this is your place. If your looking for some cookie-cutter cesspool gym that just wants your money and doesn’t care about you then 5 boro fight haus definitely isn’t for you. Oh and they offer free trial classes if you want to see for yourself.

What was once known as American killerbees NYC and now is 5 Boro Fighthause is one of the better training facilities. I have been training there for years. With each instructor very knowledgeable and experienced in their own discipline. Luis, Eric, Freddy, Elkin have been a big part of getting me competition ready (when i was competing) and have also helped me stay in good shape for my career as a police officer. Each instructor brings their own persona into the classes but the things they do have in common is the passion and the love to teach others. No student gets ignored or neglected and they always bring the best out of everyone with tremendous encouragement. It’s a gym that every student considers home and feels everyone is family.
