One of the most impressive experiences I’ve had at a gym. Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. Get ready to scrap though, they spar like they compete.

Coach Clay and his experienced coaching staff have cultivated an incredible training environment at Triangle. The atmosphere is very welcoming and allows everyone to grow. The Coaches are always helpful, watching out for everyone's safety as well as helping with technique. I am very grateful to have been able to train at such a great Academy with such an incredible class of individuals.

I just finished my first week at the Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu, and I can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone looking to explore jiu-jitsu. Coach Clay is outstanding—he has a way of getting you started that makes you feel confident and comfortable, even if you’re completely new to the sport. His approach creates a fantastic environment to learn and grow. What really stood out to me, though, is the community. The other students are incredibly welcoming and supportive, making it easy to feel like you belong right away. Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself, build confidence, or develop a new skill, this is absolutely the place to do it. Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu is top-notch!

Coach Clay and the entire team at Triangle are top-notch. This gym thrives in making everyone feel personally welcomed and accepted. The class structure gets the most out of your time, beginning with a few warm ups, that typically prepare you for whatever you’ll be drilling that day, followed by running the “move of the month”, then finally learning whatever the move you’re practicing that day, which is also broken down into steps. After classes are rolling. You can take Jiu-Jitsu a lot of places these days, I recommend triangle for the quality of both the coaches and your fellow members. Five-Stars all the way around.

I live in another state and have been training BJJ for over one year. My friend is a member of this gym and I wanted to train with him while visiting. I didn’t bring my gi, but Coach Rishi gave me one to borrow. They did a “Move of the month”, chain technique training, mini-shark tank (where each person gets time in the center and everyone is encouraging you), then hard rolls. You never know how a gym is going to react to an “outsider” coming in and even subbing (and being subbed by) some members. However, the Coaches were great, helped me with technique and allowed me to get some rolls in without pressuring me. Coach Clay simply asked, “How are you feeling?… Are you up for some rolls?” in a friendly way that made me feel safe to respond with a “yes” or a “no”. Their changing room is clean, their mats are nice, the vibe is friendly, but competitive. My favorite part was the end when Coach Clay sat everyone down in a circle and asked how everything went, “what worked?… What didn’t work?”. The Coaches genuinely care about your progression and I would whole heartedly recommend this gym to anyone that wants to learn BJJ.

We are very lucky we found Triangle Academy. My boy Desmond is currently an 11 year old yellow belt who has been training for 6 years. With traveling and moving, he has trained at 12 different gyms. On the way out of his first session with Coach Clay, he said ‘that was some of the best, most valuable instruction I’ve ever received.’ The drills are precise and Coach Clay expects you to listen closely to his instruction. If you do, good things happen. This is a fantastic gym.

I just moved to Franklin and was in need of something to do and a community to join. After hearing about the gym from one of my teachers, I started going to Triangle about a month and a half ago. Since starting the coaches have been extremely helpful and supportive. Clay is a phenomenal teacher. As I’ve been learning the basics he and the other coaches have answered any question I’ve had. From learning how to fall properly to learning how to escape from a guillotine. No matter if you are a beginner or experienced with Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Triangle has been one of the bright spots I’ve had since moving here. They have multiple classes a day, every day of the week. I attend the 6:00 am classes on Tuesday and Thursday. They have kids classes as well if you are looking for a safe yet challenging activity/sport for your children to try. I can confidently say I plan on going here for the foreseeable future. I just want to say thank you for welcoming me in to the gym and having me be a part of the Triangle family!

They consistently go above and beyond, bringing professionalism and giving my kid 100% every time. The facility is always spotless, and the programming is clear, methodical, and thoughtfully developed. It’s obvious how seriously they take what they do!

I recently visited Triangle Academy of JJ As a black belt I was very impressed on the structure of the way the classes were instructed by professor Clay and his coaches. I felt very welcomed by the environment and students, I have traveled around the world and have trained in numerous schools, would rate this academy as world class and look forward to return to train here again.

We have been at Triangle Academy for about 6 months now and can truly say we have seen our oldest son grow by leaps and bounds since starting training there. For being almost 10 and having never tried Jiu-Jitsu before, he has acclimated so well there. He has become more confident overall as he has gained more skill, and as training has helped with problem -solving and pushing past any fear or limits he puts on himself. Clay and his team of coaches are so kind, patient, and great with the kids…they truly make the atmosphere feel relaxed and fun to learn. We also appreciate how they incorporate insight beyond Jiu-Jitsu in terms of talking to the kids about respect, hygiene, etc. It also feels very personal as they are so good about communication and keeping in touch with you as the parent about your child’s progress and anything else. The homeschool class has been wonderful for us to incorporate into our routine for the week, as well as the flexible option of an evening class if need be. We are so thankful we found Triangle!

Great environment and to me the way a place feels is the most important to me because you want to go somewhere where you can learn and make mistakes without feeling criticized. This place does amazing on that aspect. The people there also help with how the gym flows. The trainers are great. Clay is a great guy and has a wonderful gym and experience!

Amazingly humble group of Coaches. If you’re new to the area, if you’ve just left the military, LEO, Fire or are a father just finding yourself without a tribe… This is the place, can’t recommend Triangle Academy enough. It’s an environment of individuals that are extremely hard working, humble and respectful people, just trying to slightly improve themselves daily. and those around them. Coach Clay, along with the Jeff, Owen and Foster do an exceptional job at creating an environment where all are welcomed. In addition to this the Coaches for the kids (5 year old Daughter) are second to none. I can’t recommend the homeschooling class enough (any of them). Giving your children a challenge and a chance to work on themselves in a controlled supportive community is amazing. This is our tribe. These are our people.

I started my jiu-jitsu journey at Triangle Academy and have been training there for over two years. Clay and the other coaches are highly knowledgeable and talented. Even if you are having trouble learning a technique, they can break it down step by step to help you out. Beyond the high-quality training, the gym environment is welcoming, encouraging, and motivating. Everyone at Triangle cares about each other's progress, and I love that. The sense of camaraderie and brotherhood at Triangle is unmatched. I'm in the Marine Corps Reserves and feel the same sense of belonging as I do in the Corps. I've made lifelong friends here, and we love pushing each other to improve. Whether you want to compete or pick a new hobby, this gym is for you!

I would recommend Triangle Academy to anybody, regardless if this is your first time trying a class or if you’re looking to try a new gym. Having trained at a few gyms in the past and had difficulty with consistency and improving my skills, Triangle has been a game changer. From day one, all of the coaches were welcoming, encouraging, and genuinely cared about their students. Coach Clay in particular cares about each and every one of his students. He will check in to see how the training is going and recognizes hard work. The atmosphere that the coaches as well as the students provide here makes you want to keep coming back to improve on your skills. It puts a new meaning to being part of a team. Regardless of the reason or desire to train, I highly recommend giving this gym a chance. As somebody who once feared being the new guy in the gym, I can attest that Triangle will welcome you and take good care of you. Thanks again to Coach Clay and all the staff for everything you guys/gals do.

Best Jiu Jitsu school in Nashville Area IMO and there is a lot of quality around there. Clay Mayfield's passion in Martial Arts and helping people was the framework for a school that has changed soooo many lives! He and his team have helped people lose weight, get healthy, achieve new goals and create happier lives through Jiu Jitsu. Triangle Academy has World Champs and is led by one of the Best in the World. Truly. With that said, Most schools don't have leaders that truly lead by example. Triangle Academy's leader still competes at a very high level, actively trains (and will find the best of the best to work with). Clay works out and maintains a healthy lifestyle, he coaches from the sideline when people are competing across the United States and he always handles himself professionally. The experience in competition and coaching is unparalleled, honestly. He knows how to teach, run a room, breed competitors and build up the people within his team. He has great people under him that harness his understanding and they've created a successful culture with it. Triangle Academy changed my life... and my family's life... forever. I'm so thankful for that team. I guess it should be no surprise how popular it is.

Entering Triangle Academy, you see the words "Awaken Your Potential" and they aren't kidding! From the first class, it was clear to me that I would be pushed to grow both physically and mentally. Coach Clay is extremely personable and knowledgeable, taking the time to make sure everyone understands the techniques while encouraging you to push past your limits. His ability to keep the classes engaging makes each session worth the sweat and effort, and his passion for the sport is infectious. Everyone is there to improve, with no judgment or ego. The positive environment makes you eager to return and train every day, as everyone is genuinely committed to learning and supporting one another. There are a variety of classes to fit any schedule—with the bonus of a great Muay Thai class led by Coach Perry on Fridays! I cannot recommend Triangle Academy enough for anyone looking to take their training to the next level.

Triangle Academy is, hands down, the best gym I have ever trained at. The level of mastery the coaches possess here is unmatched. I have trained at some good gyms that I thoroughly enjoy and have no problem with, but if you’re looking to get serious about jiujitsu, Triangle Academy is the place to be. Coach Clay takes a no-nonsense approach to teaching, which I really appreciate. Some places try to sell “self-defense jiujitsu” and give promotions just to keep students around, but not here. Another thing that sets Triangle Academy apart is the intensity level. Wrestling and Judo are very prominent, and most rounds start from the feet. I’ve been training here for a little over a month, and thanks to the elite coaching staff, intense training, and amazing training partners, my competition game has been taken to the next level.

As someone with no prior grappling experience, I was unsure of exactly what to anticipate. With that being said, the experience that I have had at triangle made me absolutely thrilled to go back session after session. Coach Clay and Coach Justin were not only incredibly inviting and inclusive from day one, but in each lesson they take the time to be individually attentive to the form of each student and never hesitate to answer when asked a question about technique. I definitely learn something new after each class. The culture of the gym is amazing, white belt through black belt everyone seems to get along great and truly care to aid in the development of one another. This gym is perfect for a variety of different practitioners, including people training for competition, developing self-defense technique, and learning about the sport in its entirety.

From the moment I arrived at Triangle Academy, I was welcomed with respect and quickly integrated into a community of hard-working individuals. If you’re looking for world class training and instruction triangle is the place to be. Clay mayfield is a top level athlete on top of being a fantastic coach and mentor. His training is very structured and the environment is intense. Perfect atmosphere for any athlete or hobbyist. One things for sure clays is very respectful and honorable. before I signed up and I was another academy’s student and i would cross train a lot with clays gym he would always welcome me along with his students at the door. He also would text me time to time, just to check up on me and my training. That said a lot about him as a coach to me. So I decided to switch academy’s and I’m so glad I made that decision. I’ve tried all the gyms in the Nashville area .. triangle is by far the best in town. Go check them out 👍🏽

I'm notoriously picky when it comes to gyms, but Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu has truly exceeded my expectations! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the great atmosphere - friendly faces, clean facilities, and a sense of community that's hard to find elsewhere. The coaches are top-notch, with a depth of knowledge and patience that's impressive. They take the time to explain techniques clearly and provide personalized feedback that's helped me improve significantly. But what really sets Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu apart is the amazing curriculum. The classes are well-structured, and the techniques are both challenging and applicable. I've learned so much in just a short time, and I can already see the progress in my game. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu. If you're a BJJ enthusiast like me, or just starting out, do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won't regret it!

I trained for 1 Year at Triangle and it was a phenomenal experience. On day 1 I had no idea what I was walking into and Head Coach Clay made me feel welcomed from the start. Coach Clay runs this gym to benefit your growth as an athlete and as a person. The fundamentals class is a great way to get started on your jiu jitsu journey. In addition to the great coaching staff this gym is packed with with lots of amazing people who are super talented, experienced and strong jiu jitsu players. There are no egos at this gym out to hurt anyone, and the more experienced members are just as welcoming and just as interested in your growth as the coaching staff. I trained mostly during the lunch classes with Coach Justin and Coach Zach who made training so much fun yet focused enough to sharpen your skills. This gym is amazing!

Triangle Academy has been amazing for both my children. My daughter started at 15 as a way to gain confidence when she found herself in uncomfortable situations. The growth I have seen in her over the last few years has been tremendous! My son watched her classes and decided he wanted to try as well. He started at 11 and was hesitant at first to really jump in. The coaches have been amazing and have really fostered his love of the sport. I can’t say enough about the coaching staff. Clay, the owner, has created a space for kids and adults to grow in both skill and confidence. His staff is an extension of that. It makes Triangle Academy more than just a gym. It truly is a family.

I highly recommend Triangle Academy. As a business owner in the fitness-athletic industry who has been around the MMA-BJJ community for almost a decade, I’m really impressed with this gym. 1. Atmosphere- The atmosphere here is exceptional. I attend the 6am classes and never once have I experienced any egos. It’s welcoming, but at the same time the training is intense. That can be a hard balance to find, but I think Triangle has found that balance. 2. Cleanliness - from the mats to the locker rooms and showers, everything is exceptionally clean. I would rate the cleanliness a 10/10 3. Business model- I love the operational structure, from the schedule of the training classes to the layout of what techniques will be taught in the weeks to come. The structure is well thought out, and you can tell Coach Clay is not only a coach but a businessman who runs a thoughtfully organized business with attention to detail. All of the coaches I have been around have that same “attention to detail” approach Coach Clay has. They are on the mats to help with improvement during the sessions; the coaching attitude isn’t condescending but explanatory, which allows you to improve and understand the “why”. All around this gym has been an exceptional find, and if you are looking for a place to train BJJ, this is it.

This is a phenomenal gym to be a part of. The coaching is absolutely incredible! The effort that coach Clay puts into his students makes a huge difference in my progress as an athlete. Clay is excellent at paying close attention to the needs and progression of everyone on an individual basis and pushes everyone to be the best they can be. The gym is full of motivated athletes and coaches and the atmosphere is intense and challenging in the best way. Everyone there will push you hard and will celebrate your achievements as you go. I feel so grateful to have found this academy after moving from out of state and the warm welcome I was given here made my transition into this academy easy and enjoyable. I am very excited to keep up with my training here!

I was looking for a place for my sons and myself to train when we were in town and Clay quickly reached out after I left a message on his website and set up a class that fit our schedule. My sons really enjoyed their class, I also was able to train at his adult class. Clay and his whole team were very welcoming, gave us a tour of his facility and explained how class would run upon our arrival. Very talented and welcoming gym. I went for a few days when I was in Franklin for business and they charged me no drop in fees and were very accommodating. I had an impromptu dinner after training and they gave me some spare clothes to change into so I wouldn't have to go to dinner all sweaty. I also didn't have a mouthgaurd and they gave me a new one to train with. There usually aren't that many women in the gyms I have been to, but there were a decent amount at this one and they were all great to spar with and very friendly. Next time I'm in Franklin, I will definitely be back at this gym! Highly recommend

After 6 months of training, I believe it’s time to write a review. When Clay opened up this gym he created something special. The dynamic between the coaches is unmatched (Clay, Justin, Owen). Being new to Tennessee and having zero grappling experience was daunting. I walked into Triangle Academy the first day hearing Justin cracking jokes from across the room instantly breaking the ice. From then on I knew I was in the right place. I quickly realized how incredibly dedicated Clay was to the art of Jiu-Jitsu and the passion he has to teach it rubs off on the students. Looking back from where I started on day one to where I am now, I don’t think I could have seen this much progress anywhere else. Triangle Academy has the best combination of athletes and skills. If you are on the edge or even thinking about doing Jiu-Jitsu I highly recommend you check out Triangle Academy

As someone without any prior grappling experience, I can safely say that beginning my training at Triangle Academy was the best thing that I could've done. Not once in my time here have I ever felt misplaced, judged, or ignored because of my lack of experience. I believe this can partially be attributed to the amazing coaches like Clay, Justin, and Owen, just to name a few. They are very friendly and knowledgeable, which makes the lessons easy to digest and apply to your individual game. In addition to the coaches, the community of other students at Triangle makes for an overall positivity in the gym that is infectious. Whether you are new to jiu-jitsu or a veteran, I highly recommend you try out Triangle Academy to get the most productive and enjoyable training around.

I was first invited when I met the Owner and Head Coach , Clay Mayfield , at an open mat in the Nashville area. Never in my 3 years of training have I encountered a training room that is as simultaneously difficult and wonderful. This facility with the people inside of it are the epitome of world class training. When you train at Triangle it doesn’t matter if you’re a black belt world champion or in your trial classes , you will be met with an equal amount of respect and camaraderie. Everyone from the Coaches , to the Varsity Athletes , to the newest athlete in the building have a burning desire to get better and work hard. The gym is spotless and cleaned daily. I couldn’t recommend a better gym to travel to , or train at in the Franklin or Greater Nashville Area.

My fitness journey started about two years ago. During this time I journeyed through two franchise gym, one boxing gym, and now with Coach Mayfield at Triangle Academy. Most franchise clubs have a prescribed process, standard program for everyone. This club is all about preparing oneself to be a good human being and a good fighter. I appreciate the fact that the club emphasizes on quality and skills, it is not about promotions and "next level belt." Time spent on the mat is about learning the skills, improving oneself, and finding one's inner strength. Prior to my query in Jiu-Jitsu I was boxing, light sparring. I realized that I had to fight my weight class and not able to compete with heavier weights. Also, I am 50 years old so I have to compete with much younger opponents. I am a huge UFC fan and I saw that Jiu Jitsu neutralizes size to level the competition. Hence, I explored local clubs which specializes in Jiu-Jitsu. My top priorities were having someone who competes in the championships and a gym which will protect me against possible injury as I train. I visited three different clubs in Franklin, TN before walking in to Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu. For that day, my intention was to gather the information, return home, and then decide later. As soon as I walked in, there was a very joyful environment. I met Coach Justin and Coach Rishi. I met with Coach Mayfield, he is very hospitable and humble. He spent time with me, asked me questions, and provided me guidance. He acknowledged my concerns, I did not feel discounted but felt assured. I felt a great level of trust and comfort with the coach. At the end of the visit, I was all in. I joined immediately. Most clubs offer one free class for introduction. Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu has a starter program. I recommend that you take advantage of this five day trial package, avoid one-day trail offers as you might not capture the spirit of the training and support. Coach Mayfield is super engaged. He messaged me with words of support and encouragement. He spent 45 minutes telling about the origins of Jiu-Jitsu and basic moves. His coaching team and he are present during training sessions to observe and provide timely, hands on coaching. Coach Mayfield spend additional time with me to identify a training plan personalized to me. He is a superb coach and very connected in the moment, he is present in that moment. All the students are amazingly cooperative and support one another. I have enjoyed every moment of my participation at the club. First day, I was a bit nervous but coach messaged me to offer encouragement. At the end of training session one - I felt as if I am contracting an addiction for Jiu-Jitsu. I write this with a sense of gravity and gratitude - being part of this club and the team is a humbling experience and a privilege. I hope that everyone gets to experience the coaching, support and friendship as the one I have experienced with Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu. I highly recommend Coach Mayfield and his team.

Triangle Academy is one of the best Jiu-Jitsu gyms I've been to and I highly recommend checking them out if you are in the area. I was visiting Franklin/Nashville for vacation and went to the open mat on Sunday. Owen, who was running the session was very welcoming and the atmosphere was friendly. I spoke with Coach Clay who invited me back to participate in some of the weekly classes. He is very knowledgeable and has a great teaching style. You can tell a lot about a coach by the way their students treat new folks and Triangle Academy is no exception, they take Jiu-Jitsu seriously but everyone I met was friendly and welcoming. I can't say enough good things about Triangle Academy, you should definitely check them out!

Just came in as a traveler today. I had a blast! Great training. I got to roll with some really high level guys. Clay and his team are nothing short of amazing. Really pushed my conditioning and I took a lot of experience and knowledge from just one session. When you ask Coach Clay something he explains it very well and in a way that it’s easy to understand and learn. If you’re in the area and enjoy good training then I highly recommend you give them a call and stop by.

All coaches are very knowledgeable and are willing to help with whatever you need! If you’re looking to get started with with Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai or are experienced, I most definitely recommend giving this place a try!

I train in Memphis but am in Nashville for work often and I’ve found my home gym away from home! The coaching is great, the guys are cool and the training is awesome. From drills to live rolls, you’ll get your workout in for sure! Can’t recommend this place enough if you’re passing through or need a home gym in the Nashville/Franklin area. Thanks so much for having me the last few weeks!

What an amazing jiu-jitsu gym, atmosphere, and training. We were on a road trip and made sure to have Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu as one of our stops and are so happy we did. From the time we walked in we were greeted and treated with the utmost respect and kindness; Christina greeted us and the owner, Clay came over to meet us and chat with us. They were both so chill and welcoming, offering water and a loaner gi for training. Another student hopped up and showed us around the Academy so that we knew where the bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers were. They even offered soap and towels to borrow if we needed it. The entire facility was clean, organized, and comfortable, from the parking lot to the entrance, the training room, bathrooms, locker rooms - all of it. Even the loaner gi smelled clean (gi's stink sometimes) and was on a hanger with even a loaner belt to keep the gi closed. Before class started and as students arrived, everyone said hello and we all talked and laughed as if this wasn't our first time there. There was a great group and mix of skill level and size so that everyone had someone good to train with, Clay even changed up some of the groups as we were working different techniques in order to ensure the best training for us all. It was nice to see the respect and gratitude that the students have for Clay but also that he has for all of them. The warm ups were awesome; we moved around and warmed up using moves that are relevant to what we were going to be doing that night instead of the traditional up and down the floor warm ups. This was cool because we were able to move and warm up everything while lightly working a skill then slowly building up the difficulty throughout the warm up. We really liked the pace and the style of the class and instruction. I appreciated that there are so many females and many around my height so that we could all properly drill and practice some of the techniques. We were able to switch partners a good number of times so that we were able to feel different energies and get different looks, even drilling and working with some of the males at times, who were all great to work with as well. Clay was very attentive and gave feedback and corrections as needed as he moved around the room. To finish class, everyone sat and briefly shared their thoughts on the training, their strengths, and struggles and Clay discussed with them. It was a really great time and we are so happy that we finally got over there to train and are looking forward to the next time. If you are in or around Franklin / Nashville, THIS is the place to train. Even if you are just visiting or passing through, they will take care of you and you will for sure get some really good training.

I've been training off and on for 11 years and have been to gyms all over, when I walk into the triangle academy I feel welcomed and at home, I feel free to ask questions and feel comfortable learning without judgment from others and I feel a strong commodity between the team. These things to me are part of what makes learning flourish within a gym. Clay is an amazing instructor and his team at the triangle academy is proof of it. I cannot thank Clay and his team enough for the experience they have gave me.

I was not able to spend much time at this martial arts gym. But the time I spent here was nothing short of extraordinary. The experiences and people you meet are incredible. If you want to get into a great sport or just learning some vital self defense, this is the place for you. Coach Clay Mayfield is a great leader and will encourage you to test yourself which is what coaches should be. But he goes beyond that and genuinely shows that he cares about your growth and success. This gym is great for anyone wanting to get into martial arts or a long time fighter because this is simply the one of the best you’ll find.

Triangle academy has from day one exceeded my expectations. It’s not just a place to train, i instantly felt welcomed by all the staff and students. There are no egos or judgement from anybody, and those of a higher rank are always willing help and teach what they know. The facility itself is extremely clean with many amenities like a shower with provided towels, toiletries and a changing area. Classes are fun and educational, there’s truly something for everybody regardless of skill level. Highly recommend coming to Triangle academy!

I was recommended to Triangle Academy by my friend who has been training in the Nashville area for 10+ years. He said that this gym produces the best talent around town and he was not kidding! The whole staff is really friendly and welcoming to both beginners and experienced students. The intro offer is great and Clay, the owner/coach, is really personable. The classes are structured well and there is a lot of attention on each student. They really want everyone training there to be top notch so the level of competition is high and the classes offer a good balance of live training/drilling. The facilities are nice/clean with plenty of mat space and locker rooms. The location is also really convenient. I can’t recommend this gym highly enough! If you are looking to try jiu jitsu for the first time or are a world class black belt, you will find what you’re looking for at Triangle. Best gym in town!

I've been part of the Triangle Academy crew for over two years now, and it's safe to say it's become my happy place. Clay Mayfield and the rest of the coaches have created something pretty special here. Never thought I'd find myself grappling, but these guys make it surprisingly straightforward and fun. They have a way of turning complicated moves into something you can actually wrap your head around. What I love most is the vibe. It's not your typical gym. The coaches are approachable, and everyone – from newbies like me to seasoned pros – is on the same team. The women in the community, in particular, are a solid support squad. No judgment, just constant encouragement and guidance. Triangle Academy isn't just a gym; it's a community where you learn, sweat, and occasionally crack a few jokes between rounds. If you're into trying something new and want a place with instant community, this is it. Highly recommend giving it a shot – you might just surprise yourself!

We enrolled our son not only to learn Jiu-Jitsu but also in hopes of building confidence. This gym has gone above and beyond! Coach Clay continually reaches out to check in with us, and the rest of the coaches are phenomenal as well! They have fun with the kids while teaching them self control, respect and discuss important, age appropriate things the kids may encounter in life. We can't recommend this gym enough, and our son can't wait to go to class each week!

I love coming to train at Triangle with head coach Clay Mayfield and crew!! I cross train here when I can and everyone is very welcoming and respectful. No egos or cold shoulders just good rounds with some of the best competitors in middle TN. Ive even made some friends here that I have ended up competing against at competition. The space is very nice with mat space for big classes. Dressing rooms with showers and complementary towels if you need one. As well as hygiene products. If you are looking for a drop-in while in town or a home gym I would recommend this academy. Clay runs gi and no-gi classes here with great knowledge and urge to teach. I will be back very soon.

Triangle’s entire coaching staff is nothing short of incredible. The coaches are tough but fair with the kids. They instill discipline, routine and hard work to the kids and it shows in classes and tournaments. We have done private 1:1 lessons shortly after joining which has helped our boys even more. Their confidence, resilience and skill set has improved tremendously since starting. The owner, Clay, is very hands on, personable and truly passionate about this sport but also his gym’s mission. He knows all the kids and makes a point to build a relationship and encourage his coaches to do the same. My boys enjoy it and have stepped up their competitiveness so much since starting less than a year ago. There are a lot of life skills being taught and we could not be happier our kids are a part of this community!

Clay and the coaches at Triangle Academy are awesome! The gym is clean and incredibly well run. The coaching is top notch. I have two children in the kids program. My son has been training, coaching and competing with Triangle for two years. During this time, I have seen his confidence, self discipline, work ethic and athleticism skyrocket under Clay’s leadership. This is a dream come true for my son and I couldn’t be more proud that he is representing Triangle. I have just recently joined Triangle myself, having previously taken another type of martial art for years. I was nervous at first because it’s so different from what I knew. But that subsided quickly! The adult fundamental classes are phenomenal- everyone there made me feel comfortable immediately and the coaches are the best around and teach with care and excellence. Seeing how much I was loving my classes, my 8 y/o daughter wanted to sign up for the trial classes. She has never done anything like this before- only dance and gymnastic classes. She started off feeling unsure and a little intimidated. She was nervous about sparring. But she did it! She started off losing but slowly learned from her mistakes with the help of her coaches and starting winning matches. This sparked something inside of her like no other extra curricular class she’s taken before. She was overcoming her own fears and it was beautiful to witness. The kids coaches- they are AMAZING!! They teach them how to overcome their fears, respect for others and so much more. They are professional, fun and so great with the kids. Clay and the team will check in with parents to see how the kids are doing. Every parent that watches Clay and the coaches with their kids is amazed. It is a culture like no other for you and/or your family! I highly recommend Triangle- you will not be disappointed.

I waited several weeks to write this review, but I am so excited to be at Triangle. Coach Clay is passionate about this sport and he's a fantastic coach. The rest of the coaching staff are great, too. They take time to explain the concepts, review each move step by step, pause to ask questions, offer to repeat demos, and overall they're extremely patient with us newbies. I'm starting in my early 40's, so if you think you're too old to start, you're not. I'm a broken-down athlete 20+ years past his prime with a myriad of previous injuries and surgeries, and I'm loving it here. Even when you start rolling & grappling after drills, the rest of the students are good about adjusting their approach to your belt level. They have multiple champions attending here and, in my experience, they've taken the time to explain how they did what they did after scoring points or a submission. Excellent students are a reflection of excellent coaches. I couldn't be happier with Triangle Academy, coach Clay, and his staff. Their kids program is excellent, too. The coaches shine with the kids and it is SO much fun to watch my seven-year-old daughter learn and grow in confidence & discipline!

The minute I stepped into this gym I felt welcome. Immediately I got a sense of the culture. The students were welcoming and made introductions right away. I came in for the 0600 class with Coach Zach. He was ready to help me with a loaner Gi and showed me around the space. They have a cold plunge, showers, and mini kitchen. It was very organized and clean. Class was well paced and had a variety of skill levels. If I lived in Nashville, I’d love to make this my jiujitsu home. Thanks for a solid experience. 🤙

A handful of months ago I took the leap and started training at Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu. I'm 50 and really need to get back into better shape. I wrestled for 16 years in my youth and knew that was the kind of workout I was looking for. I needed something that was going to hold my interest and push me physically. When an ad for Triangle Academy popped up on my Facebook page, I decided it was time to stop thinking about trying BJJ and jump right in. It could have been any number of the BJJ Gyms in town who's advertisement I answered but I couldn't be happier that it was Coach Clay Mayfield and his staff of world class coaches that I found my way too. These workouts are intense but the instruction I receive is slow and deliberate. You are given all of the tools to become a better BJJ practitioner and all of the encouragement to become a better individual. Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu fosters an environment of personal growth and camaraderie. We train to get at least 1% better every single class. That mindset has carried over into my everyday life. Can't wait for class tomorrow!

Triangle Academy is by far one of the best gyms I've visited, not only in Tennessee but across the country! The owner, Clay, is a very talented competitor and coach. He's very involved in the gym and always greets guests with the utmost respect. Clay's leadership trickles down, and all the students are very talented and extremely nice. Not only is the atmosphere great, but the facility is always clean. The men's restroom has two showers with soap and complementary towels in case you forget yours. All in all, if you're in, around, or willing to travel, Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu is a must-visit gym!

I met Clay while at work not long after the gym opened and I regret that it took me another three years to walk through the doors. It is hard to express how much the community of people at Triangle has meant to me. Clay has fostered an environment that breeds excellence for anyone who is willing to put in the work. There are some absolute world class competitors that train at Triangle every day. I am not one of them, yet every time that I walk into the gym I feel like I am part of the Triangle family. One of my favorite aspects of Triangle is the respect, pride, and integrity that is instilled across all athletes who train here. Promotions are not given for attendance, nor is it reserved for the naturally gifted. Each stripe put on someones belt by a Triangle coach represents the hard work and sacrifice that an individual has put in to better themselves. Whether you are training to compete, or you want to lose 50lb and build confidence, everyone in this gym will be there for you. Update: I have been training at Triangle for almost two years. My wife and kids now train there as well. Triangle is not just a place to learn Jiu Jitsu for me. It is where I can challenge myself to be better at all aspects of my life. Thank you to Clay and all the other coaches/staff for building such a great place for my family and I.

Clay has built something very special in Triangle Academy there is really a sense of team and belonging here. You may read that world class athletes train here and that is true but I want to assure you that if you want to train here you almost certainly can. You will be accepted and encouraged as you progress. When I began at Triangle I couldn’t make it through my first class without puking and it wasn’t just my first class either that I puked. Everything was sore but I wanted to continue and I never saw anything but support from Clay, all the coaches, all the students but especially Justin. I am in the best shape of my life mentally and physically and a lot of credit for that belongs to this gym.

Triangle Academy is undoubtedly one of the best gyms in Tennessee. While training in the offseason as a high school wrestler, my buddy convinced me to try out a local Jiu-Jitsu gym. From the moment I walked into Triangle, I was greeted with hospitality as if I were already a part of the community. The training is hard but rewarding. The coaches never ask you to work harder than they do themselves. The gym is filled with world-class Jiu-Jitsu practitioners who are eager to teach. Fast forward three years later, and I was awarded my blue belt with consistent training. Even though my life path has taken me out of Franklin, Tennessee, I still enjoy coming back to train with the Triangle community.

I can't speak highly enough about Triangle Academy of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Professor Clay Mayfield. As a BJJ blackbelt and coach, I've had the privilege of training in various academies, but Triangle stands out as a gem in the Nashville community. Professor Clay is not just a high-level BJJ competitor, but an exceptional teacher who has contributed immensely to the local BJJ scene. His commitment to fostering a welcoming environment for everyone, from beginners to experienced practitioners, is truly commendable. The Sunday open mats are a highlight, attracting seasoned athletes not only from the area but also from around the world. One of the unique aspects of Triangle is its open-door policy. Professor Clay warmly welcomes new students and encourages cross-training, creating a melting pot of highly skilled individuals. The atmosphere is conducive to growth, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner. The opportunity to roll with some of the most seasoned athletes in the area and beyond is invaluable, and you never know who you might encounter from out of town seeking world-class training. The sense of community at Triangle is amazing, making it more than just a place to train—it's a family. If you're considering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the Franklin/ Nashville area or just visiting, Triangle Academy is the place to be. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to embark on their BJJ journey or take their skills to the next level
