My friend and I were in San Antonio just for one night and decided to drop in for Professor Jacob's 6:15pm adult Gi class. Very impressed! The team was incredibly welcoming, the instruction was clear, and there was a good balance of time spent warming up vs time spent drilling vs time spent rolling. The academy is also set up in a really cool way, big open space, multiple mats with different classes going, and a cool waiting area to chill in before or after class. Will definitely drop in again the next time I'm near the area. Thank you Professor Jacob and team for the solid training!

Had the pleasure of dropping in for both a Gi and no-Gi class - super clean, welcoming gym! The space is huge, several different mat areas and the instructors were great! Wish I lived in San Antonio - soooo many classes in the schedule!

This gym is amazing! Everyone who works here is awesome. Alex, Justin and Sean, did a great job of showing me the facility and after touring others, I knew this is where I wanted to begin. Instructors Fernando, Gabe, and Monica are informative, patient, encouraging and passionate. Coach zumbi runs a great and fun muay thai class! You can tell Professor Jacob put his heart and soul into this gym as it reflects on how great his staff is! Highly recommend the begginer BJJ class if you're wanting to challenge yourself and gain confidence. As a woman it was important to me I found a comfortable and safe environment, and this is it

Visited the gym on a work trip! Class structure was disciplined and they fully utilized the time on the mats. There seemed to be plenty of training partners that train on the mats a significant amount of time. To me this translates into quality of training partners. They were top notch, professional, and very friendly. Highly recommend!

I was just here for a drop in training session in the middle of February and was blown away at how professional and friendly the culture of this gym was. The instructors were top notch and the clientele was friendly and helpful. Its been a few weeks and I unfortunately don't remember any names but will definitely be looking to see the same faces I interacted with when I get a chance to come back and drop in again for another training session. If you're some kind of professional staying down town for an event at the convention center or even just staying near the downtown vicinity I highly recommend dropping in and rolling with the good people here. It was a great experience and I took back a few new tricks to use in my home gym. Definitely worth the drop in fee! Thank you HOJ for showing me a great time! Ill see you again in July!

Dropped into the 6am class a couple days during a business trip. They had a large turn out for 6am both days. The Instruction was top notch. Great details. Professor even took me through the moves for the rest of the week since I was leaving town. Everyone was super welcoming. There was a good mix of upper and lower belts and sizes and styles. They did quick rest 3 minute rounds, so got a lot of action and different looks in a short period of time. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend HOJJ if you’re in San Antonio.

As his student I have competed several times. I have received 2 Golds 4 Silver and 1 Bronze. His classes are fun and most of all as a female I feel safe learning under him and all the coaches.

We visited this gym as a drop in and were really impressed! Lots of space, open air breeze, and small classes with lots of one on one from the professor. They were very friendly and made us feel welcome and great with the kids. Looking forward to going back!

Dropping in from out of town--this gym is newish and in an awesome space--plenty of room to run separate classes on two different mats, plus MMA offerings. The people were very friendly and welcoming and the two classes (wrestling and gi) I tried were awesome. Great to have later night classes. Would definitely recommend this place to new folks and experienced folks alike!! Thanks Prof. Jacob!

Was in town for a convention and didn't want to have a lapse in training. The gym is huge with spaces for multiple concurrent classes (gi BJJ, no gi, MMA, wrestling). Professor Jacob and the coaches are all wonderful, knowledgeable, skilled, inspiring, and fantastic at choking me out. I will visit again if given the chance. PS. DO NOT GIVE PROFESSOR JACOB ACCESS TO YOUR GI

I’m the type to always plan ahead so I have an idea what to do, where to go, eat, and train. So I like to contact places in advance to ask about certain things. They were really prompt to respond to all my questions which made me feel already welcomed before even setting foot there. When I did drop in, the teacher of the class and members were very accommodating and friendly so I had a great drop in session. The facility is a whole lot bigger than their website and social media shows. The mats are new and kept clean. The class was organized and well ran. I will definitely drop in again when we’re in the area. Thank you HoJ for the great experience!

I never thought I would try jiu jitsu, much less join a martial arts gym, and now I’ll never limit my thinking in the same way again. I’ve gained so much more than technical skills & general knowledge of the sport. Gym owner, Professor Landin, helped me lose a little over 40 lbs in under a year, and in that same time trained me to place/medal in every competition I’ve entered so far (Gold 1, Silver 2x). More importantly tho, House of Jiu Jitsu offers me a community of like minded students who help each other push harder and climb higher in life, utilizing various martial arts as the tools to sharpen ourselves. Jiu Jitsu, MMA, wresting, & yoga are part of the regular schedule, & there are additional course offerings outside of the regular schedule. Sundays the mats are open to anyone: students, affiliates, competing gyms, spectators, friends and family. Please come check it out. The coaches and Professor are friendly & full of knowledge, but the friends we train with make the experience complete. We train Gi & no-Gi so it’s ok if you don’t have a Gi, you don’t need to buy anything to come, just come. You’ll be glad you did. Adding a photo my 4yo daughter took of her mom training this week.

I started Jiu Jitsu a few weeks ago and this gym has been a great place to learn. There is a good mix of advanced athletes with colored belts and newer people which makes it a great place to train. Absolutely recommend this gym. The coaches are great, it has huge mat space and is in a cool location in Southtown.

The coaches are amazing and the community was very welcoming... ...but... If you sign up for the 5-week beginner's course, be sure to read deep into the fine print and ask for a copy of the contract. They auto-enroll you for their regular membership immediately after the 5-weeks is up, and won't refund the surprising first month's membership.
