Dropped in while in the are for business. Coaches were super welcoming! Facility was also very clean. Ernesto was an excellent coach. Highly recommended if you’re a recreational grappler looking for a good drop in spot!
I cannot speak highly enough of Ultimate Submissiom Academy. My son has been training at USA for 1 1/2 years and my daughter for 6 months (since she turned 4). They absolutely love it. The owner and his family are amazing—very kind and caring people. All the coaches have a true passion and love for what they do and it shows. The kids roll hard and challenge each other, but they also take care of one another. It’s a very family oriented environment—from it being a family owned gym, to the kids who have a brother-sister type relationship, to the parents who grow close. The other gym in Floresville is also very welcoming with it being a small town. There are a lot of homeschooled kids and the morning classes are great for P.E time. As hard as you’re willing to work is as hard as the coaches are willing to train you. The kids that compete are pushed harder than the kids that do this just for fun. My son has been on both ends of the spectrum and has always received quality, sufficient training for whatever his goals. We did the free week trial here after doing a day trial at Ohana and HOJ. There was no debate that USA was the gym for us! This has been the best investment we’ve made regarding our kids. Not only do they learn practical skills to defend themselves, but they also learn hard work, discipline, and to be a good person overall.
My family and I have been training at USA for 6 months and it has been amazing. The culture of the gym is phenomenal and makes us feel like family. The training that is provided is great from my 4 year old all the way up to my wife and I in our 30's. We can not speak highly enough about Ultimate Submission Academy! My son has been training at USA for a year now, and I can see the difference from when he started. Not only in his techniques on the mat, but his whole demeanor in general has changed for the better. We are not just a team, we are family 💛.
Ultimate Submission Academy is a great gym. The coaches are amazing! The attention to detail and motivation they provide their students is top notch. My kids have been in jiu jitsu for 2.5 years and were falling out of love with the sport. I must say, since starting here a few weeks ago, they have regained their motivation and passion. I'm very impressed and highly recommend this gym!
This gym is amazing. I love how friendly they are to everyone. They are super inclusive with women and they even have classes for women only on Saturdays. The most important thing for me when looking for a gym was looking for a good support system as well… I couldn’t be happier with my Ultimate Submission Academy family. If you want to give jiujitsu a try this is the place to be 100%!!
This is such an awesome Academy. We enrolled our son last year. The coaches and other parents quickly become friends and now considered family. Our son has learned so much, his confidence is through the roof. He always wants to answer questions and volunteers to demonstrate what he has learned. He started to compete last November he didn’t win any medals his first tournament. Which only made him more determined and dedicated and has always podium ever since. He’s wall is full of medals Bronze, Silver and Gold. This past summer he went to Nationals in Florida where he competed with kids his age from all over the World. He ended up winning a bronze medal. Our daughter also trains here. She’s only 4 years old. She’s only been in two tournaments and has won 4 gold medals. We now have a Nephew who trains here and he to competes and has won several medals. The coaches and staff have been a great influence on our kids. They are top notch instructors that really care about all there students. Best decision we made!!
Great gym VERY family oriented!! The coaches are all absolutely AMAZING!! You can tell the coaches really care about each student individually and are dedicated to helping each one accomplish their goals!!

Three of our kids ages 7,8 & 11 have been attending Ultimate Submission Academy since January and we HIGHLY recommend this gym! All 3 have grown in so many ways including confidence, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, self discipline, mental strength etc. The coaches all care deeply for the betterment of each individual child and put their hearts into every class.
