I very highly recommend C.O.B.R.A. Self Defense Miami.
Although my first impression of the C.O.B.R.A. location and facility was questionable, I soon found out the program was worth every penny.
After the first class, I saw that the quality and true value of C.O.B.R.A was in the training and staff.
The lead instructor, Kiko, was nothing short of amazing. His passion, training and attention to detail were A1.
His right-hand, Sarah, and junior instructor, Levian, were also amazing, patient, and very well trained.
The tools and scenarios that my wife and daughter learned will help them to: 1.) Recognize and evaluate a situation (how not to look like an easy target), and
2.) Control, manage and survive a situation.
The cherry on top was the active shooter training conducted by Joe Robaina. We all learned so much.
Contrary to my initial impression, the C.O.B.R.A. training was money well spent.
Best decision I have ever made! I’m going to college soon and I feel so much more comfortable, confident, and knowledgeable in defending myself. Highly recommend!
I love this place so much!! Taking the 10 week course has taught me life changing skills that will last a life time. My instructor Kiko was absolutely amazing, and so is Sarah!! They worked with us so professionally and even in the kick boxing class they took my lack of stamina into consideration and never pushed me to far (lol)! Kiko and Sarah make you feel so comfortable and are so friendly that it makes coming to class so much more enjoyable. This place is an 11/10 in my eyes! I will recommended this place to anyone that is looking into taking self defense :)
I know it sounds cliche but Cobra Defense Miami’s 10 week self defense academy is priceless! They taught us the psychology & mindset along with the skills to empower us to take the necessary action needed to keep our loved ones safe in real world emergency situations. My experience at C.O.B.R.A. changed my life beyond expectation. From the first day of class I knew I had made the right choice. The instructors and staff are dedicated to ensure that you learn and understand each technique and how to apply them. They walk you through them step by step and are flexible to your individual needs. The 10 week academy includes real life simulated scenarios to train you physically, mentally and spiritually under pressure. When you are done with the training, you will feel empowered and confident that you are able to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Not only have I learned the highest level of self defense skills, but I had the privilege of meeting an amazing group of teammates and we all have become part of a big family. I highly recommend C.O.B.R.A. to everyone. No matter the age, gender or experience. Action is faster than reaction. You are not a victim!
Cobra is a life changing experience. In the 10 weeks course you will start feeling the difference after a couple weeks. You will gain mental strength and the techniques to deal with different situations out there. The instructors are really good. I recommend this to anybody from any age.
Wow! COBRA is truly incredible. The instructors are extremely knowledgable and thorough in ensuring you fully understand the concepts they are teaching and are able to apply them. The program also entails real life simulated scenarios so you know you can perform under pressure. COBRA goes beyond self defense and teaches skills that not only help you protect yourself, but also help you continue to grow as a person. When you finish you will have what you need to keep yourself safe, and you will also have a family.
The full range of self-defense courses here are top notch –as a beginner in this experience you will be super well received and guided by Joe and his truly caring team. This place is also for fitness because being ready means being fit - all you have to do is show up and participate – need I say Kiko is an awesome trainer. They will guide you on your journey as you lose fat and tone up. COBRA Defense Miami has been the most advantageous class I’ve ever taken. It has molded me from a soft target into a more aware person I did not know how to be. I now feel more confident being out anywhere with the knowledge I’ve gained in self defense and have no doubt that if I am ever targeted again, I will not only defend myself but get out of the situation alive. Joe Robaina is a fantastic instructor! His incredible knowledge, skill and humor made for easy and impactful learning. Unfortunately, we all need to be prepared for the unexpected. I would highly recommend everyone taking C.O.B.R.A. Self Defense and Active Shooter training for yourself and your organization.
This is a great self defense class. It taught me that a small woman like me can absolutely fight off an assailant, and that neither size or strength matter.
Finally attended a self defense class, given that both my daughters have attended the C.O.B.R.A Teen Safe program that they both raved about and learned so much from. So informative and so much to learn to be aware when put in unfortunate unforeseen situations! Looking forward to attending more classes!!! Thank you!!
If you have auto insurance, homeowner's, if you've insured your big box items, etc. but you haven't insured your kids you should take a second look. Just spent possibly the most productive 4 hours of self defense (and offense) for high schoolers and college students with my boy. Extraordinarily practical and intelligent. Every student should have this know-how under their belt otherwise they are at a huge unassuming disadvantage. Many thanks to Joe Robaina, Chris Sutton, Mark McKay of COBRA self defense Miami. It's literally life insurance.
My daughter and I attended the one day active shooter and teen safety course. It was an informative and inspiring course, full of useful techniques and strategies to stay safe. We were both very interested in continuing our training. I strongly recommend this course for anyone, especially those with kids going off to college.
I was looking for a place where I could exercise with my son. There aren't many places where you can find that. Not only were we able to workout together, but we became part of another family! Besides the Kickboxing, Bootcamp and Piyo classes we participate in, I have made my son and myself better prepared for today's world. Being part of the Active Shooter course and the Teen Safe course puts me at ease that we are more knowledgeable in how to defend ourselves. I am so glad I found this place! :)
This is a great workout studio where the trainers push you to your limit while still accommodating to your needs. And if you are ever going to do a workout there make sure kiko is not on vacation. Overall this place is really fun and inviting and also has great self-defense classes.
Completing the 10 week course I have learned both the psychological and physical skills for self defense. The program is structured in a practical and logical manner that can be applied to real world scenarios. Joe and Kiko are great at demonstrating realistic encounters and how to protect and defend myself. I also appreciated the Active Shooter training and I look forward to adding more skills to my tool box! I highly recommend COBRA to anyone interested in insuring their lives!
I along with my 2 college age children and their friend went to a 2 hour private self defense training with Joe. I cannot believe how much we were able to learn in his training in the period of time we were there. It ended up being a GREAT activity as a family, and the skills that Joe taught are things that can save their life. My kids insisted that they want to keep going to take classes with Joe everytime they are on their breaks. It turned into one of the highlights of the break. I have been to self defense classes before but NOTHING compared to his teaching style and hands on learning! I recommend doing this as a family and look forward to doing this with a group of my girlfriends too.
Just completed a 16 hour COBRA Cane Instructor's Course. Grand Master Joe Robaina and senior instructor Kiko Martinez, are the best... they are patient, precise, and thorough when explaining and demonstrating each technique. Plus, all techniques and strikes are reality tested to confirm their effectiveness. Each attendees walked away with an appreciation for the effectiveness and utility of the cane as a "carry everywhere" defensive tool. This type of training is not available in every COBRA studio, and south Florida is fortunate to have Master Joe and Kiko nearby in MIAMI. I've already signed up for additional cane training!
I just attended a special certification course to integrate the walking cane into the COBRA Self Defense System. One of the hallmarks of the COBRA Self Defense System has always been scenario based training with all COBRA techniques.
I have been a Certified Instructor with COBRA Self Defense Systems and have taught and used the system for several years. The COBRA system is undoutably the finest self defense available for the average individual, partly because it is not married to a particular martial art style, and also because it is scenario based as its puts the training under stress pressures. However, as the finest "empty hand" self defense system, it was fitting that it could be learned with the use of a cane as a force multiplier if someone faced a knife attack or multiple attackers. I was very interested when I learned that Joe Robina was offering this course over several days of intense training. Joe Robaina was serving the area well as a Regional Director for the COBRA Defense System and had brought several "gold nuggests" to the COBRA Defense System. Joe was also the founder of ACSD Tactical-American Cane Self Defense System, and creator of the "5 to survive" Cane Self Defense Training. In that capacity, he worked closely with the Corporate Offices of COBRA to fit the cane training into the COBRA flagship product, the 10 Week Academy also known as the Police Academy For Civilians.
I was blown away by the potential to integrate the cane into the COBRA system as well as the COBRA Training curriculum. Needless to say, the trip down from Tulsa was not only well worth the time and effort for my future students, but it was a fantastic refresher for me on the COBRA techniques. It quickly became obvious that Joe has been working hard for years to take COBRA to the next level under the direction of the system creator Chris Sutton. Joe has also extended his training to Kiko Martinez who works with Joe, so it was easy to learn the techniques with two men who were so well trained.
If you are a COBRA Instructor, you would be making a wise choice to take advantage of this integration. With violence levels increasing around the country, it's time to learn the tactical uses for a medical devise "the cane". If you are a potential student, you would do well to take his 5 to survive cane self defense course- 52S Joe and Kiko offer. I cannot say how much this tactical cane training has already affected my wife and I. Give Joe a call. 5 stars
Joe and Cobra Defense Miami are the perfect combination of professionalism, personality, fitness, fighting and fun that might just save your life. His enthusiasm is contagious, and his practical combat skills are only outdone by his skill as an instructor. Like your favorite Italian restaurant, you always wanna come back for more!
Trained with the Head Instructor, Joe Robaina a few weeks ago in Muay Thai. If you live anywhere near Cobra Defense and you don't train with them you SHOULD!
What an amazing program to learn EVERYTHING you need to know about self defense! I did this program and I feel amazing not only about being able to protect myself but the disipline I learned!
