I had a terrific experience here. The professor was kind, welcoming, and had a big smile for us - but make no mistake, he taught awesome BJJ. I really liked the combination of technique, body awareness, key principles - wonderful. I’ll definitely be coming again, and I’m jealous of the folks who can come here more regularly than I can. Thanks!
Posted 4 months agoI've been training at YSBJJ since it opened and I can honestly say it's one of the most welcoming and inclusive places I've trained at in all my years doing BJJ. The professors are incredibly knowledgeable and break down every move with precision, explaining techniques in ways that are simple and easy to understand. No question is ever considered silly which makes people feel comfortable learning and asking for clarification without hesitation. But what truly sets this place apart is the culture the YSBJJ team has built. Practitioners of all levels are on the mats ready to help, share knowledge, talk through struggles and support one another without hesitation. I hope that culture is never lost because it's truly what makes this place so special.
Posted 4 months agoI've personally had the privilege of training with Ankush for over the past 10 years, and one thing that has never changed is his incredible knowledge, passion, and dedication to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Even after all these years, I still learn something new every time I train with him. His ability to break down techniques, explain concepts, and help people improve is truly exceptional. Yonge Street BJJ is a reflection of who Ankush is as both an instructor and a person. The atmosphere is welcoming, supportive, and built around respect and continuous growth. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner, you'll feel comfortable from day one and have every opportunity to develop your skills. What stands out most is that Ankush genuinely cares about his students and their progress. He's not only an outstanding coach but also a great mentor and role model. The culture created at Yonge Street BJJ makes it a place where people want to keep coming back, improve together, and support one another. If you're considering starting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or looking for a new place to train, I highly recommend checking it out.
Posted 4 months agoGreat location and even better quality professors. Prof. Ankush, Prof. Dang and Prof. Allan are some of the best in the city. Knowledgeable and experienced, you will be hard pressed to find this quality of professors in one gym. I have personally trained with all three professors for a number of years and I cannot recommend them enough. Great guys that have created a great environment to learn and improve, not only in jiu jitsu, but as a human being. If you are in the area, this is the place to be.

They create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that makes students of all experience levels feel comfortable and motivated. The quality of instruction is outstanding, and the positive training culture truly sets this gym apart. If you’re looking to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while becoming part of a strong, encouraging community, this is an excellent place to start.
