Came here to try a free trial class. Facilites are rather Spartan. The instructor was friendly and helpful, but the manager on site seemed rather cold. The prices weren’t great either. $240 per month is a bit exorbitant in this economic climate.

Absolutely phenomenal experience with Open Mats Martial Arts! Their coaches, Grace and Amber, went above and beyond by bringing their expertise to our women affected by violence. Their patience, knowledge, and compassion created a safe and empowering environment for our clients. The self-defense program they led was tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients, and it was incredible to see the confidence and resilience it inspired. Grace and Amber's dedication to sharing their skills and promoting community safety is truly admirable. We wholeheartedly recommend Open Mats Martial Arts to anyone seeking top-notch self-defense training. Their commitment to empowering vulnerable populations is inspiring, and we're grateful for their contribution to making our community safer. Thank you, Grace, Amber, Stephen and Open Mats Martial Arts, for an unforgettable experience and for being champions of community well-being!

I like this place. It reminds me of Dorian Yates' (famous bodybuilder) gym in England, not fancy, not pretentious, filled with spirit & good dedicated people. I train Jiujitsu and I'm thankful to every instructor for their thoroughness in explaining the nuances in technique and for making the invisible, visible. If you like community and commitment and are ready to work, come and join me and let's get better together.

I'm a beginner at martial arts and signed up here at OpenMat MMA and have really enjoyed my experience thus far. The coaches are great, people in the classes are welcoming, and each training session is a great challenge both physically and mentally. If you're thinking about starting martial arts training, don't hesitate to join OpenMat MMA!

Hands down - exceptional experience in training BJJ, world class. I have been doing boxing at sports school as my major sport for 5 years, and have done some BJJ before, and have good knowledge of what is "good" and "bad" coaching. These guys are world class. If you have a chance to take BJJ classes with Denis Beenen, medalist of Worlds and Euros, or with his colleague Ondrej Blazek, do it. You don't get the chance to get this quality of training often. Overall: 1. System - well thought through systematic training programm for beginners, with defined goals, timing (16 weeks). Same approach for higher belts. 2. Coaching focuses not only on how to do, but why (principles) and why it works. Example - from side control position you get explanation of basic principles of how to keep control, what techniques to use and how they work and why, like keeping an elbow on the hips to prevent lower body movement and shrimping. Explanation why, not just been shown do this do that. In every detail, in every part of the training plan to form systematic understanding of techniques. 3. Caring and attention - coaches provide attention to students, each one, spend extra time explaining, and really care about your progress. They like to see the output of their coaching efforts. 4. Videos - you get access to videos made by the crew which cover all the beginners training programm, so you can go and refresh any aspect of technique. Great gym, creat crew. Glad to have joined.
