Amazing place to train with great instruction and great people! Would recommend to anyone wanting a community of awesome people to develop skills with!
I can’t speak high enough of Jeremy and his team. We started almost 2 years ago and now both our kids are in class. It’s helped with their focus, determination, and self-discipline. Practicing jiujitsu is a non negotiable in our family. We know our kids will carry these skills with them for the rest of their lives. Thank you to Professor Anderson and all the coaches for walking through this stage of life with us!
The coaches are amazing with kids. I was pretty nervous about enrolling my kiddo because she can lose focus, not process information correctly at times, and is pretty cautious. These guys said, "No problem!" and they weren't kidding. From the minute we walked in the door, they were all so welcoming. Even the other kiddos were welcoming and helpful to my daughter! She actually looks forward to the classes and has so much fun while building her confidence. Fantastic place!
My son loves it here! Learning new skills, self confidence, competitiveness and overall generating respect and discipline. Would highly recommend.
I went to 5 Jiu Jitsu gyms before settling on WJJ. I joined because of Professor Anderson's teaching style, the low-ego friendliness of the other people, and the cleanliness of the facility. Those, among others, are the reasons I've stayed. In addition, I've learned a lot about Jiu Jitsu and have fallen in love with the art. I would recommend World Jiu Jitsu to anyone who wants a new challenge and all of the benefits that come with it.
From the first class when my 5 year old daughter learned how to escape a headlock, I knew this was right program for us! The kids learn real-life skills and discipline that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. The coaches are all great and highly invested in each child’s success. To top it all off, the classes are fun and the community is great!
If you're looking for a Jiu Jitsu gym, this is the place to go. Professor Anderson is extremely knowledgeable and a great instructor. He and the rest of the coaches/students provide a very "family-like" atmosphere and makes everyone feel welcome even on their first day. 10/10 would recommend if you are interested in learning BJJ.
World Jui-jitsu academy is an awesome facility to train and learn new skills.
If you want to learn amazing Jiu-Jitsu techniques in a family friendly gym, then I highly recommend training at WJJA.
I have been going to this gym for about 9 months. The members have been extremely welcoming and humble. No toxic machismo like you frequently find in this sort of environment. This is a fantastic place to learn Jiu Jitsu and make new friends along the way. I wish I would have joined years ago.
World Jiu Jitsu is an awesome Brazilian jiu jitsu school. Professor Anderson is not only an excellent practitioner and amazing teacher, but he's also a very approachable, great person. The school culture couldn't be better--everyone works hard and competes hard, but there's great support and camaraderie amongst all the students, regardless of rank. I've been coming to WJJ for many years now, and most of my kids, teenage to adult, love coming here as well. It's been a great family activity for us--the only downside is that most of my kids can now beat me up. If you're thinking of trying jiu jitsu, I highly recommend it. It's great exercise, and you can stay competitive at a much older age than most other sports. And WJJ is a great place to learn jiu jitsu!
My 5 and 7 year old boys have grown so much in their focus and resiliency since starting at World Jiu Jitsu Academy. Professor Anderson is very talented and does an amazing job keeping the kids engaged and having fun while training!
I have only been training for about five months, but jiu-jitsu at WJJA has already changed my life for the better. When I started training, the warm ups wore me out! Now I can roll with my training partners for the hour long marathon roll classes and come back for more. I have lost forty pounds, I constantly feel amazing, and have made a ton of friends. Professor Anderson is not only a world class athlete and grappler, but truly has a gift for teaching as well. It has been such an amazing experience that I have my six and ten year old daughters taking classes now and they love it. He truly makes the training fun while you learn valuable self defense. The gym is clean, the people you train with are truly a team that is there to help you grow, and all of the instructors are amazing. Don't put it off any longer. Start now! *Gotta revisit this 3.5 years later. Just received my purple belt from Professor Anderson and it's hard to put into words just how much I have gained through BJJ training in this academy. I started training at 48 and am about to turn 53. Without BJJ I don't want to think about how my health would be. I have kept the weight I lost off (except for a few covid pounds, which training took care of pretty fast) and am as fit as I have ever been. It doesn't matter how old or young you are, you can always learn and gain a ton of benefits from training. You get self confidence, self defense skills, mastery of the ego, and an incredible sense of satisfaction you just can't get most other places, and so much more. Also, my almost 10 year old daughter has also been training for 4 years now and is a legit grappler. It's nice knowing that I don't have to worry too much about her if some guy gets a bit handsy with her down the road.
I have recently joined the academy and I can tell you that I immensely enjoy my classes and training. As a person of a certain age (retirement soon as well as a member of AARP) my concern was around the stamina and athleticism involved. I can honestly say that my cardio is up, my abilities have gotten better, and I have experienced an abundance of friendships. In addition, I have lost weight and feel better every day. The instructors are fantastic and very patient; I highly recommend them. A fantastic school and experience. Don't let age or whether you are in shape stop you!!!!
This place is awesome. I started knowing literally nothing about Jiu Jitsu but was never made to feel silly or bad about it. Everyone here is invested in each other's success and working together for improvement. I loved it so much that my kids have joined. They're learning the sport as well as weekly life lessons about self-confidence, respect and attention. I recommend this place to everyone who is thinking about trying Jiu Jitsu or a new martial art. I got my husband to join now as well as a couple of friends. Walking in here feels like coming home. You meet friends, work hard and learn something new every time you're on the mat. We're here probably 6 days a week, and I'm not mad about it. If you're even barely considering trying Jiu Jitsu , this is your sign to come in and just give it a shot. This place is THE best.
Professor Anderson and the rest of the coaches are engaging and make a point to get to know you when you are at the gym. They along with everybody who attends class are extremely supportive and create an amazing atmosphere to train BJJ. 10/10 would recommend for all experience levels.
In spite of my initial trepidation to begin, this place has become a wonderful part of my life. I was initially a little worried to join such a male-dominated martial art, however not only have the guys been extremely kind and helpful, but there is also a sizable group of women–all in all, it is an extremely welcoming environment and very encouraging. I could not recommend this place more, Ju Jitsu has become an extremely valuable part of my life and it just keeps getting more enjoyable.
At almost 50 this BJJ been the best physical activity I have done since boxing as a teenager. Learning BJJ been fun and exciting. All Professors and Instructors are focused on helping you grow. WJJA has become a great community of like-minded folks. You must give it a shot.... come and join us!
I really cannot say enough good things about this academy. We enrolled our son last year and I have been so very impressed with the quality of instruction, the great attitudes of the instructors, and the balance of both fun and real world instruction that the kids receive. Mixed in are lessons on discipline, respect, confidence, comradery, compassion, resilience, and competition. They have built a very positive and welcoming environment for the kids to learn and grow.
I have been training at World Jiujitsu for just over a year. I started training as an adult with the day classes. I was immediately made to feel welcome and a part of the community. The guys is see three or four times a week at WJJ are some of my favorite people to see outside of my family. Jiujitsu is a complex and potentially dangerous sport but Professor Anderson keeps things very safe, ensuring that students don’t get carried away during rolls. He also does a tremendous job of demystifying the sport and how to progress in it. I’d recommend WJJ to anyone interested in trying the sport.
My son has Selective Mutism, a form of social anxiety. He’s been coming to World Jiu Jitsu for over a year, and he’s growing more confident and brave! The professors are great, they work with his disability, and encourage him to push his limits. His gross motor skills have improved drastically with jiu jitsu also. We’re so happy coming here!
This gym is a life changer. The culture in this gym is 2nd to none. Come, Work hard and you won't regret it!
I’ve been training at WJJA for a number of years now, while also frequently dropping in at other gyms around the country. What we have at WJJA is ‘special’. It’s a perfect balance of a ‘family-esque’ feel (humble, caring, and welcoming group of teammates) but still has a focus on leveling-up and training hard. There is a wide mix of individuals that train here, and has room for anyone regardless of age, experience, or goal. If you are consistent and focus on the process, Jits is transformative. The right environment matters! There is both Gi and No GI classes spread throughout the week (hoping for more No Gi classes soon :)) Lastly, our Professor- Jeremy Anderson is an incredibly talent coach and practitioner.
World Jiu Jitsu Academy is an awesome place to train, learn, and have fun. The community is welcoming and encouraging. Professor Anderson cares about students progress and wellbeing. I wouldn’t recommend any other jiu jitsu academy before World Jiu Jitsu!
My 10 and 8 year old daughter and son have been training at WJJA for 5 and 3 years respectively. The focus, discipline and confidence that they have gained under Professor Jeremy's tutelage have been extremely rewarding. He has the perfect amount of instructional training mixed in with fun games and exercises to maintain young children's attention. I recently started training as well and have a newfound respect for the physical conditioning and mental focus required to progress. Everyone is helpful and willing to work with you to improve at your own pace. Great team atmosphere that is welcoming for beginners through high level practitioners. Excellent bonding experience as a dad with my kids!
Professor Jeremy is so captivating and training atmosphere will make you feel home. It changed my life from the stress bubble I was living. Now BJJ is my love and World Jiu Jitsu Academy is my second family!
Have been doing BJJ at WJJA for six months and I couldn't recommend it enough. The place has a wonderful, welcoming culture with the higher belts very helpful and invested in your success. If you're thinking about BJJ this is the place!
This team is like a big family unit. When my own family joined we were welcomed with open arms. The members were so friendly and helpful and welcoming! Not only is it such an incredible workout, it's a great place to blow off steam, forget about anything outside of the gym and just be yourself. I have grown in bodily awareness, self defense techniques, and self confidence. Professor is so great! He's professional and yet so accommodating and kind and so fun to learn from! He's the best coach I've come across!! Lots of laughs and friendships made here!
I spend a couple hours of my week here and it’s by far the best use of my time. After every class, I leave with such a sense of accomplishment. That feeling is in large part to Professor Anderson and the team he has created. If you’re on the fence about joining, pull the trigger and give it a go. The culture and community at this academy is second to none. The instruction is spot on, the students are helpful and humble and if you’re lucky, you might get to enjoy a cheesy dad joke during class.
I was in town for work for a few days and reached out to Jeremy and his team to see if it was cool for me to drop in for a few nights. The team was very welcoming and accommodating. The training was great, and we had some really fun rolls. Solid group of hard working, humble folks. I plan to visit again for sure!
Great instructors and great people to train with.
The instructors are awesome. They are very patient with all the kids and make it easy enough for them to understand what they need to do
We take our son to Jiu Jitsu. The instructors are very professional and very fun. My son has learned so many life skills from his weekly classes. He always looks forward to class!
Fantastic gym with great people to train with! Visited this gym a couple times while traveling and love coming back every time! The coaches are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I couldn't recommend this gym highly enough!
My 9 year old son has fallen in love with jiu jitsu thanks in large part to the wonderful coaches at World Jiu Jitsu Academy. All of the coaches have been friendly and maintained high energy while demanding (and receiving) respect from the kids. The space is well maintained and clean. I would recommend WJJA to anyone (adults or kids) interested in getting great exercise and building a real world defense technique.
Professor Anderson is extremely well versed in all forms of grappling; from wrestling, to jiu jitsu, to MMA. He is a extremely good teacher and the student group here is great. No matter what level of grappling you have you'll be challenged but also never feel at risk of being injured.
Amazing building confidence, discipline, leadership, focus, teamwork, amongst other life skills for my children. This is not a temporary sport, but rather, a lifetime activity.
Great, knowledgeable, approachable teachers, tons of students willing to help beginners learn the ropes, structured curriculum for beginners so they exactly how to advance and get stripes towards next belt level. We focus on sport bjj with strong wrestling influence and self defense. It’s been a great place to train!
WJJ has become part of our lives, my daughter Bella (9 years) and I have been training for over a year and even though my family has a busy schedule Professor Anderson always keeps close eye on our progress and never let us get behind. Thanks Professor Anderson and Team for having a great place with awesome people.
For the past three months I have been training at WJJA. The coaches take their time to get to know every student on a personal level. Training partners are humble and always willing to stay after to help you work out the little kinks in your Jiu Jitsu game. The gym is always clean. In the beginning I was hesitant to try Jiu Jitsu, but now three short months later I look forward to the nights when I get to train Jiu Jitsu.
Great place and atmosphere to learn Jiu Jitsu!
Love the atmosphere and humble training partners and teachers. Both my kids decided to start up and have loved it too!
We have had our 7 yo and 9 yo boys coming for about half a year. They have a great time and are learning a lot. I am impressed how the coaches are able to keep a group of little kids interested and under control. Definitely recommend!
I’ve studied at a lot of different martial arts gyms and I can say from experience that this place is top notch. Fantastic instructors, super supportive and positive culture, and great facilities. Highly recommended.
I highly recommend World Jiu Jitsu Academy. They have great instruction and atmosphere. If you're ever in the area you should definitely check them out!
Awesome environment. I was really welcome by the staff and the whole team. Very clean mat, great classes and instructors and the programs aim Jiu-Jitsu not only as a Sport but also real life self-defense situations.
Been training almost a year... Since day one Professor Anderson made feel like home. I had trained at a different academy previously and did noticed the difference right away. A secure friendly environment. It feel more like a family. And you are getting the training straight from the source, it is hard to find an academy who is run and teach by its owner. Professor Anderson is sound down to earth and will be there to detail techniques. I’m glad I found this academy and lucky to be part of this family.
I own a martial arts training center and visited to take a look at their facility and their instructors. First off, the facility is one of the nicest, most well kept martial arts schools I have seen in a long time. In addition, the staff is extremely friendly and creates an environment that is very conducive to learning and fellowship. Their program is top notch in which they offer children's martial arts and grappling classes for adults. If you live in Eden Prairie and are looking for a great academy, give these folks a call.
If you want to learn from one of the best grapplers in the country, come to World Jiu-jitsu Academy! As a NCAA National Champion Wrestler, IBJJF Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Champion, NAGA Champion, and Jiu-Jitsu Black belt Professor Anderson has the ability to take you to the next level. His 20+ years of grappling experience he brings to the mats is light years beyond most, and the curriculum he teaches will take you from white belt to champion if you make the commitment to his philosophy of 1% improvement everyday! He will make you a champion on and off the mat if you go all in!
Incredible training environment. Everytime I go train at World Jiu Jitsu Academy I get an awesome workout and receive top notch coaching from some incredible instructors. Jeremy does a great job with structuring his classes, as well as setting up a variety of classes that allow you to train for different components of BJJ. Great place to train and get better!
My 12 year old son loves World Jiu Jitsu and Professor Anderson. HE was a struggling youth wrestler when he started coming and Professor Anderson has been motivational for both jiu jitsu and wrestling. All wrestlers should try it!
Since August 2016, my 14 year old son started to attend the World Jiu Jitsu Academy and he is absolutely loving it. This is an amazing place for Kids of any age and Adults, as well, with any experience. Coach Anderson is wonderful. He is very knowledgeable, experienced, kind and most importantly caring person, he truly cares for all of his students. In the past, other places/sports we went to, owners or coaches did not even know all of their students by name, but WJJ, Jeremy knows everyone in person, all their strength & weaknesses and personalities, as well. He always inspires and motivates his students to do well & better in a positive way. He is always there and it makes me feel safe. I am a paranoid mom :-) but I trust him 100% with my kid. Everyone is very nice, friendly and respectful to each other. This program is wonderful and fun! In addition to fun, coach Anderson is teaching and training students all valuable life and BJJ skills. When my son started to take classes at the WJJ, he only attended 1-2 times per week, now he attends 3-4 times per week, never misses it and always supper excited to be there. Its a great training, workout place and over all an amazing school! I would highly recommend it to anyone!!!
My 14 year old son has been training at World Jui Jitsu for a year now. Professor Anderson is a wonderful instructor. Very positive with lots of encouragement. Everyone in the gym is friendly and welcoming. My son loves it and has progressed quickly.
My son has always been a very high energy child. He has also been bullied a lot in school this year. He has never shown much interest in conventional team sports, and with winter closing in, I knew I needed to find something quickly that would help with all of the above. That's when I found WJJ! We signed up for the trial and after the first class, we both knew this was exactly where he needed to be! The other students quickly accepted my son as part of the team. The kids high fived one another before and after training....such a positive and supportive environment! The other parents were welcoming, friendly, and supportive as well. We immediately signed on for a full year, and it was the best decision I have ever made! Since joining three months ago, I have seen my son change in many ways. He is more confident and is no longer afraid of bullies. He is learning to become a leader and a good team player. He is more respectful and does what I ask him to THE FIRST TIME!!! Instead of answering me by saying "Uh-huh" or "Sure", he now says, "Yes, Mom." He has even washed a sink full of dirty dishes by hand WITHOUT BEING ASKED! He is more focused and positive in school and is turning his homework in on time every time and is even answering the extra credit questions on his math tests! He is learning to set goals and is working hard to achieve them. Professor Anderson has created the perfect comprehensive program and we are so thankful to be part of the WJJ family!
I have so much fun in class, and I think it’s why I keep coming back. Professor Anderson knows how to bring the best out of his students, and has helped me find a drive that I didn’t know I had. Everyday after class all I can think about is when I can go back again!
WJJ is the friendliest gym I've ever been to! They don't just teach about exercises and self-defense techniques, but skills that will be important for the rest of your life, even when you're not doing Jiu Jitsu. Professor is very kind and knowledgeable about what he does! He is great with every age group, especially kids! I've never met another professor that is a black-belt and still loves to train with all age groups. It's like one big family at WJJ, and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else to train! I recommend anyone, whether you're a beginner or you've been training for seven years, to come join World Jiu Jitsu!
One could not ask for a better place to begin their journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I could never have imagined finding such a wondrous sense of belonging and companionship as the one that I have found at World Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Professor Anderson is a coach, mentor, and motivator in every way both on and off the mat. The thing that really stands out about this gym, in comparison to others, is the undoubtedly genuine environment. You can see this in the way he goes above and beyond every single day and gives his all to teach and share what he loves in Jiu-Jitsu. Classes are so well designed that sometimes I forget that I'm even training because of how much fun I am having with the people around me who I am so proud to call my teammates. Any worries about starting to train are completely understandable, we've all been there, too. But trust me when I say that the second you walk through that door, the worries seem to just melt away because you can feel it in the air that you're in good hands. You've chosen the best of the best, by far. Thank you so much, Professor, for everything you do!
World Jiu Jitsu Academy is awesome. If you're thinking about starting a martial arts program, I highly recommend this gym. My first classes were highly individualized with a focus on self-defense and the promo rate can't be beat. Professor Anderson onboards new students to be very successful by sending emails with notes on etiquette, training and other helpful info for newbies. If you are out for a while, he sends check in emails and is very available and caring for all his students. The support at the gym is outstanding and when you join you instantly have a ton of new friends! I don't have experience with other martial arts gyms, but the level of support at WJJ is more than I've ever experienced with boutique fitness like yoga, barre, rowing, etc. Everyone takes a ton of personal responsibility but is super willing to help anyone else along the way! I've been with the gym for about six months and have seen huge improvements in my fitness level. I've also lost about 10 lbs during that time frame. I look forward to continuing this journey and perhaps competing in the future.
The amount of self confidence you will gain by committing to this kind of activity is bigger than can be put in print. BJJ is such a rewarding sport. At WJJA the coaching and the support from your teammates is paramount. Professor Anderson and the other coaches are always pushing to make you better. Just a great workout and a truly great school.
Jiu Jitsu can be intimidating and overwhelming at first, but I've grown to love it at WJJA. Through the support and encouragement of the coaches and my teammates, training has become the highlight of my day. Cannot imagine my life without it. Professor Anderson is amazing. He is down to earth, funny, and a phenomenal instructor. It’s an honor to train under him. The community is wonderful. The people here care about each other. We 'check our egos at the door' & want each other to improve and do well. It feels like a family. If ya want to be a part of something special, something bigger than yourself all while having a blast improving yourself (mentally & physically) and getting an incredible workout - World Jiu Jitsu Academy is the place for you! It’s my home away from home.
Incredible gym atmosphere and amazing professor. World Jiu Jitsu Academy is perfect for anyone looking to improve their BJJ and physical health. The students there are equally helpful and more than willing to assist anyone new or with little experience. All in all, I believe WJJA is hands down the best BJJ gym in the area.
Walking into a martial arts gym for the first time can be a nerve-wracking and intimidating experience for both seasoned veterans and newbies alike. I was in the latter category when I first walked into WJJA. I’m not an intense, rough-and-tumble berserker type. I have no background in martial arts or wrestling (I did less than a year of karate when I was 13, so that hardly counts), but I had developed an interest in jiu-jitsu over the previous year having heard many a podcaster speak so passionately about it. And one doesn’t spend too long researching jiu-jitsu before learning of the alluring nature of it’s mental game as well as its status as arguably the best self-defense method. I had kicked the can down the road far enough, so with a shaky voice and sweaty palms I made the plunge and walked into WJJA after crossing paths with one of the coaches there, Jesse. I had this idea in my head that as the new guy I would be looked at as fresh meat for the senior guys (and girls) to have their way with for a little fun. I now laugh at myself for painting such a nightmarish vision of my first day doing BJJ. Instead, it was awesome! Jesse taught me how to put on my gi and tie my belt, then I basically received a private lesson (as all new students do) while the rest of the class did their daily drills and techniques. I learned how to do a headlock escape, a simple sweep, and a joint lock submission - all with a real opponent. There were no practice pads or human analogues to “start” with. This was real stuff. I instantly comprehend the application and effectiveness of jiu-jitsu. Towards the end of class I sparred (or “live rolled”) with one of the experienced blue belts, Jason, for some real-time experience. He let me work my newly acquired techniques and gave me a little resistance. The next day my muscles were stiff, sore, and screaming. I was hooked. WJJA has been a staple in my life ever since. The crowd here is incredibly supportive - they’re all there to help each other get better at jiu-jitsu. Nobody is there to pound the bejeezus out of anyone for their own ego. We have sales managers, chemists, engineers, lawyers, electricians, nurses, cops, and people of all walks training here. And the culture all stems from the lead instructor, Professor Jeremy Anderson. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone with a deeper grappling pedigree than him. As someone who started wrestling at age 7 and went on to win state and national wrestling championships, then won the Pan-American Championship in jiu-jitsu (as a blue belt), and had an undefeated career in MMA, his experience is wide and vast. All of this experience and success makes for a very confident and humble instructor, and it’s that humility that trickles down through the rest of the gym and leads to such a fun, supportive atmosphere. If you’re looking at giving jiu-jitsu a try, you’d be doing yourself a serious disservice by not taking a look at World Jiu-Jitsu Academy. The culture is incredible, and you’ll be a better person for being a part of it. Now, get after it!
WJJA is more than just a place to train. Jeremy Anderson is an awesome instructor, and he gives each of his students the utmost attention. WJJA is like a family, and everyone there works together to learn and have fun. It's a great place to train for all levels; from beginner to expert; and I highly recommend this gym for anyone even remotely interested in jiu jitsu.
WJJ is a friendly and inclusive atmosphere, from the professors down to the newest students. I have attended many different classes and all experience levels will find themselves enjoying the daily lessons and the assortment of training partners. I can't recommend this school highly enough. You won't be disappointed with your visit here, and you might just find yourself joining the team!
I started at WJJ about 5 months ago, and it has been an absolute blast! Classes fun, well-paced, and a fantastic workout. Professor Anderson clearly knows his stuff - more importantly, he knows how to communicate it to total beginners like myself. After less than half a year, I'm in better shape than I have been in a long, long time. Can't recommend this place enough.
If you're looking for a place where you can find a challenge and find people willing to help you succeed, World Jujistu Academy is the place to be. Professor Anderson and his coaches are focused on building up their trainees and excited everyday to see the growth and development of every one of their students. Classes are always fun and packed with folks who just want to be better than they were the day before. You won't be disappointed checking out!
Great instructors. Friendly, yet competitive environment to help you further your skills.
I started Jiu Jitsu as a hobby in 2009, and it quickly became an obsession. It's one of the most enjoyable and rewarding forms of exercise I've ever experienced, and as someone who has trained in a couple different academies, I can say this is the safest, cleanest, and most welcoming gyms I've been a part of. 5 Stars!!!!
I trained at a number places across the Twin Cities before I found professor Jeremy and World Jiu Jitsu Academy so I can say with confidence that this academy has the best community of anywhere that I've ever trained. Throw into the mix Jeremy's national champion wrestling background and impeccable understanding of technique and World Jiu Jitsu has turned out to be a phenomenal place to train as well as socialize!
Professor Anderson knows how to make his students reach their true and full potential regardless of their age or athleticism. I love training here!
I had the privilege to train at World Jiu Jitsu Academy for one summer when I lived in Burnsville, MN. The culture cultivated at the Academy by Professor Anderson is second to none. The culture is welcoming, friendly, growth-focused, and competitive. The focus is on both the team and individual, which has helped me grow immensely as an individual. The teachings have also contributed to my growth as a professional. In recent visits to the Twin Cities area, I have carved out time in my schedule to train in at WJJA! If I were still living in the cities I would be training at World Jiu Jitsu Academy!
I’m a 40+ year old, 9-5, family guy that’s been training at WJJA 3 – 4x / week for the last 7 months. On any given day a guy like me trains with young national champion wrestlers, a world combat submission grappling champion and many larger, stronger talented guys and I have never had any fear for my safety. That is not the case in all gyms and it comes straight from Professor Anderson and filters down to everyone else in the room. He has built in our gym a strong sense of community and a real team that trains together and looks to improve each other every day through safe but intense training. Professor Anderson has not just the qualification to teach but also the ability to transfer that knowledge in easily grasped blocks that he links together in a movement chain. The consistent training has allowed me to see significant improvements in my flexibility, strength and overall durability. I haven’t felt this good since I was just out of college!
I love this gym! I've checked out other BJJ gyms in Minneapolis and this one by far is the friendliest. Great people who want to see you succeed. They are always looking out for you and have a heart of gold. The bonus is that you get in shape while learning some Bjj/self defense. Oh and a great perk is the coaches are a ton of fun with amazing skills!
I have been going to WJJA for 5 months and I love it! I went there on a whim and on the first class I was hooked! Everyone on the team is very nice and welcoming and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Professor Anderson is a cut above the rest with his knowledge, professionalism, and the culture he creates at the Academy. I leave class feeling encouraged, inspired, and motivated... and sweaty! Jiu jitsu is a great workout of the body and the mind and I couldn't imagine doing it anywhere else!
Wonderful Jiu Jitsu Class, great structure and great professor. Can't say enough about the positive changes in my child since starting class.
Great place, positive environment. Jeremy is the "real deal" and is very knowledgeable
I have been involved in martial arts for over 15 years.World Jiu Jitsu Academy gets it! Professor Anderson is a fantastic instructor, he brings a professional and fun attitude to every class. Great group to train with everyone wants to learn and from beginners to the upper belts all are very helpful. I recommend WJJ for a great way to get in shape, learn a valuable skill and meet some great people!
My 6-Year old daughter has been training here for about 6 months. She loves it! Professor Anderson is very good with kids. He provides a fun and safe learning environment. The skills she has learned have transitioned to other areas as well - soccer, school, etc. She tries harder and has learned to never give up if things don't work out the first time. I highly recommend this school!
My 14 year old son loves World Jiu Jitsu! He has learned so much and trains hard! Everyone is very helpful and supportive of each other and Professor Anderson is an amazing instructor! He has a well rounded approach of discipline, fun and life lessons.
World Jiu Jitsu Academy is a great place to learn BJJ in Minnesota. I got the chance to train there for a week while I was visiting home. Jeremy Anderson is a great coach, and a really nice person as well. He is very detail oriented, and has great knowledges in BJJ/Self Defense. I think that's very important, because he could pin point precisely on what you can improve on your BJJ game. Fortunately, I got to roll with him a few times. His BJJ game is very fluid, and has beautiful BJJ movements. It demonstrates that he is very elite in term of BJJ, and has a great understanding of BJJ fundamentals. The facility is very clean and well maintained. The atmosphere is very laid back, informality and friendly. Students are very friendly, and nice. I didn't encounter any meatheads while I trained. Bottom line: It is a great dojo overall. If you are looking for a laid-back atmosphere, want to learn BJJ at the same time. You should come and check this academy out.
Simply the best Jiu Jitsu instructor around!!!
Visiting Minnesota from Colorado and went to this gym to train. Awesome instruction and even a better group of guys! Highly recommended!!
As a new person to jiu jitsu I could not ask for a better environment to learn the sport. It is a fantastic community to be a part of. Professor Anderson's teaching style and skill are second to none. I strongly recommend for anyone, beginner or seasoned vet....
Professor Anderson sets a great atmosphere and mentality for training. He is a great ambassador for the art! He makes all levels regardless of age, skill level, gender, etc feel comfortable. The best thing about the training is the growth mentality he encourages in the gym. Small gains is what it is all about!
I train at the Stillwater branch but have had the pleasure having Professor Anderson guest teach on a couple of occasions over the last year. I can't say enough of what a pleasant and easy going guy he is. The ease with which he explains the nuances of the moves speaks to his lifetime of training and skill, but his ability to teach may be his greatest gift. As for World Jiu Jitsu in general, it is amazing. I have not had an exercise regime since high school (and I am closer to my 30th reunion that I care to think about). I was getting fatter every year and finally admitted to myself that this would not be the year of "getting into a gym." Then one day, while observing my daughter at Super Kids karate class I saw the Jiu Jitsu class going on and knew I had to try it. The instructor (Coach Ranch) was welcoming and enthusiastic, he led us through some light warm ups and brought the class through the basic self defense moves. Before I knew it the class was over, I was exhausted, shaking, thrilled and completely hooked. Any time I had ever attempted a workout I was aware of every second dragging by, this was the most intense workout I'd ever experienced and I never once thought about the time or looked at the clock. I am a year and a half in and it is the same for every class, I try to get 3 sessions in a week and would go 5-6 if I could. I lost 20 lbs, my resting heart rate has dropped by 10, and my HDL cholesterol levels doubled bringing me from low levels to healthy without any other changes to my diet or activity. My strength and flexibility have improved, which means my back feels better than it has in years. You don't need to be fit or flexible, or anything. You just have to want to show up and have a great time. There really isn't any excuse not to try it. If your body works, you can do Jiu Jitsu. The rest will come, and you will love it.
I'm in pretty good shape, but 49 so I don't heal as quickly as I used to. As a former HS wrestler and youth coach, I find jiu jitsu to be very much like wrestling, but easier on your joints because you do a lot more work on the mat. Alas, the objective of locks and chokes means I have a lot to learn, but that's fun, especially because you go until you 'tap.' It's giving me a good incentive to stretch more, because many moves need a lot of hip, knee, and groin flexibility. Jeremy is a great teacher too, which is always key to these things.
Professor Anderson has a unique ability to connect with people and give world class instruction. He has an amazing wrestling, MMA and Jiu-Jitsu background but most importantly he knows how to coach and get the best out of people. The kid classes have given my kids confidence while always having a great time and burning off extra energy. The adult classes bring like-minded people from all over and have a great team atmosphere. It doesn't matter if you want to compete, gain confidence, learn a new martial art or just get some great exercise – Professor Anderson will help you meet your goals. The facilities are clean and the culture is the best I've come across.
Jeremy is a fantastic instructor. He brings a different understanding of movement than other instructors in the area. His successful wrestling and MMA careers are obvious influences, but he never loses sight of the philosophical and self-defense aspects of the art of jiu jitsu. He has sought instruction from the best and works diligently with each and every student to set goals, actively pursue those goals, and re-orient expectations once those goals are achieved. Whether you want to prepare for competition or self-defense, or if you are looking for a team-oriented workout for body and mind, the best place to go in the twin cities is World Jiu Jitsu Academy.
World Jiu Jitsu Academy is the best jiu jitsu school around. Professor Anderson is excessively experienced in the ground game and brings a professional and fun attitude to every class. You cant help but want to be on his Team! Join here today!
I entered the World Jiu Jitsu Academy after watching the incredible transformation and positive impact that the sport has had on my two sons [8 and 10 y.o.]. The experience of the instructors has taught them many skills that they use daily building discipline, confidence, focus, and character. Their victories and losses on the mat make them stronger every day. My personal experience with the World Jiu Jitsu Academy has been nothing but positive. It has been like learning a new language, enhancing the body and mind.
Found this place to not be very friendly towards new people, it’s very tight nit and when you have to partner up with people they typically don’t want to partner with a new person who’s learning they want to be with their friends, quite a few times I’d ask people to partner with me and they’d say “no I want to be with this person instead” the teachers were great and real cool, but the other people that attend here it’s very clique and not very welcoming at all to new comers, they really should have a class for only beginners and that’s it and not merge beginners with experienced people because they are not interested in making you feel welcome if your inexperienced,
