Such a cool gym! With my job, I travel a lot and cross train with different gyms. This one was definitely one of my favorites! Very welcoming, clean and respectful. No one is rolling to hurt no one and it’s a great gym for first timers!
Posted 1 year agoI have visited white lotus BJJ as a guest, while I was staying in Milwaukee and was lucky that I had the opportunity to visit Meghan‘s creative BJJ class as well as Josh‘s classes! Both were great and I took away a lot from it. Also all the people I met training there were super friendly, helpful and very welcoming. Definitely a big recommendation to check it out!
Posted 1 year agoWhite Lotus is a really great place to learn BJJ. I’ve been doing BJJ for about 18 years and have come to appreciate training environments that focus on fun and learning. Josh and Meghan both have really cool insights into BJJ and have a lot to share. The students that I met were all kind and welcoming which was pretty great. If you are into positive vibes and fun training then this is the place for you.
Posted 1 year agoI have known Josh and Meghan for years and was so happy when they decided to open their gym. I have been here twice now for Gentle Arts Lifestyle Camp and plan to continue to try to make it out here at least once a year. Josh is a thoughtful and competent instructor who is constantly improving not only is Jiu Jitsu application and understanding but also his teaching ability. I have watched him take areas of his game that were weaknesses and make them into strengths. I consider him a respected peer and friend. Meghan is one of the most unique Jiu Jitsu practitioners I have met in my travels. She is immensely creative and has managed to share her unique approach with her students. I got to train with her and her students this weekend and the impact she has made with her creative control points and movement based style makes both her and them a fun and unique puzzle to solver when training. White Lotus is not your normal BJJ gym and that's the point. If you want to come and have a recreation of ADCC finals this is not the gym for you. However, if you want to have a thoughtful discussion about technique and solid fun rolls with people who care about your health and safety, this just may be your thing.
Posted 1 year agoI was vising Milwaukee from out of town and was lucky enough to attend some seminars at White Lotus. From the moment I walked in the door, everybody was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Both Meghan and Josh couldn't have been nicer. I've been training BJJ for 9 years and thought I had a strong understanding of certain submissions but Josh taught details on those moves that totally blew me away and completely changed how I do them. I then drilled some moves with Meghan and was very impressed with her creativity & unique way of adapting techniques to work for her body type and style. After class I rolled with Josh and he 100% upholds the definition of the word Jiu-Jitsu. Like a true master of "The gentle art", he imposed his will and maintained control of me while still being kind; not smashing my face or being overtly rough. In my 9 years of training I've visited a lot of gyms and I was VERY impressed with White Lotus. Rest assured, I now have one more reason to visit Milwaukee as often as possible.
