We started Way of jiu-jitsu in May of 2022, and haven't looked back. Coach Quyhn has been such a huge help from our first email we received, getting started for our first class, and an amazing coach cultivating our kiddos minds in every class we attend. We love the passion each coach brings, the patience they have the kids while also commanding respect, teaching discipline, and all the knowledge Professor Nobu shares. Way of Jiu-jitsu will be a constant art we continue to instil in our children.
Ways of Jiu Jitsu! Our boys, aged 5 and 7, have been attending for about a year now. We absolutely love the coaches for their compassion, patience, kindness, and consistency towards the kids. The curriculum they have is amazing, our boys stay active and engaged throughout the entire hour, learning new skills, sparring, and even enjoying a fun game at the end. I started a few months ago and have loved it since the start. Between the two locations the schedule is robust and I can easily fit classes into my busy schedule. The culture is also unlike any other martial arts gyms I've been to (with few tough-guy attitudes). Everyone is very kind and the professors, particularly professor Nobuo, are very knowledgeable in the art of jiu jitsu and judo. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to train or start jiu jitsu in Denver.
The coaches are fantastic! I love the way my kids are coached here. They’ve joined as timid, shy little girls but have grown comfortable and confident in just the short few months we’ve been here. They are learning a lot and not just the techniques but also how to be a good friend/partner, the importance of sportsmanship and respect. Much respect for these coaches!
Great group of people to train with. The entire dojo is friendly and welcoming. There are students of every belt level and they train between belt levels while maintaining strong technicality in the rolls. A good percentage of the dojo also trains kodokan judo, which means they are strong in tachi waza and ne waza. Instruction is clear and concise and very clean technically. The instructor monitors students during drilling and helps with corrections. Great randori with good vibes.
Way of Jiu Jitsu is an amazing place! My child has grown so much confidence within himself. Jiu Jitsu has helped given him the ability to see his self worth. The instructors are great! I can’t thank you all enough!
My daughter has been with Way of Jujitsu for a year & half, she looks forward to going to class, the coaches are awesome. I started Jiu Jitsu at the age of 52 (with no wrestling or other martial arts skills) just over a year ago at Way of Jiu Jitsu Academy, and have gotten more than I expected out of it. I figured it would be great to learn skills of a martial art and good for fitness, and it has been both. What I did not expect was the mutual respect and attitude towards collectively learning, regardless of level, by all the members I have encountered. This is a very comfortable place to learn. With regards to fitness, I consistently get a great workout involving strength, flexibility, and endurance. What makes it more appealing than other “exercise programs”, is that you are constantly learning/evolving, so you never get bored or tired of a routine. And, because Jiu Jitsu is not a striking (punching/kicking) discipline, I’m not concerned with that type of injury. Professor Nobuo is an accomplished and highly skilled teacher, of several disciplines, and of the utmost legitimate Jiu Jitsu lineage. He has created a welcoming and respectful culture, and I consider myself lucky to have found this academy.

Let me say I’m pretty much a pacifist. I’ve never been in a fight. I started learning jiu jitsu because of a threat. The folks at this gym have been inviting, encouraging, and have pushed me towards in all the right ways. Threats are gone and I’m still here, cause of the people and a new found love of a sport. I may get my butt handed to me on the regular, but it’s always with respect and teaching and support.
Way of Jiu Jitsu offers such wonderful programs for children and adults as well as the judo program! As a female, it can be intimidating, but for 4 years now, I have always felt welcomed and appreciated. All of my training partners have been so helpful and want me to grow alongside them also. Professor Nobuo is very knowledgeable, trustworthy and caring. I have found a home here, and I highly recommend this academy to anyone who wants to learn the beautiful arts of jiu jitsu and judo while upholding Japanese traditions!
Not just a Jiu Jitsu / judo school , it’s a brotherhood and a family ! I been to 5 different schools once I got out of the military and WOJJ is by far the school for me ! The professors teach you with every roll, and such detailed in moves! My whole family goes here and professor Nobu has been someone we all look up to and respect cause he does so Much for our family! I can’t imagine going anywhere else! 5 stars is not enough!!

I had the pleasure of beginning my jiu jitsu journey under Professor Nobuo's guidance. This gym has a really special culture; it is welcoming to all walks of life and all levels. Whether you're wanting to learn self defense, improve physical fitness, manage stress, or prep for competitions, this gym is an incredible place to do so. The community and camaraderie it offers is truly something special, even beyond the art itself. My son was 4 1/2 years old when he started. His doctors recommended he attend a sport to challenge his mind, body and most important build his communication skills. Jiu Jitsu is a full body workout. The trainer and coaches here are amazing. They’ve been a tremendous help showing students what it looks like to be safe. Call for help. Get away. Use your voice. The last is most important for my son. We’ve attended Way of Jiu Jitsu over 2 years now. The growth my son has experienced is incredible. Self confidence, motivation, accountability, following instructions/directions, following through, listening, empathy and conviction.

I have been training jiu jitsu here for a few months now and I found the experience to be outstanding. Professor Nobou is one of the best jiu jitsu instructor hands down. What’s more impressive however is the culture that Professor Nobou have created at the school – it’s a culture of kindness, humility, welcoming, and respect. I feel so lucky I found this gym! Every member, and coach is so welcoming and supportive...every day, at every level, and in every class! Everyone here feels like family, and treats each-other as such. PLUS...as a female athlete, it has been extremely impacting and inspiring to have such an amazing female coach (thanks Coach Quynh!!!). I have been training here for over 5 years and have lived/worked all over the Denver area, but something about this establishment brings me back to it every time. Professor Nobuo's guidance and teaching is not only decorated with high caliber competition experience but also backed by high level affiliates and organizations that would accredit his skill in this art. I’m a jiujitsu brown belt and judo black belt who popped in looking for a place to train while on vacation, and I highly recommend this gym. Very welcoming atmosphere with highly skilled individuals, professor Nobuo and his black belts definitely have something special going on here. Will definitely be coming back 10/10.
We initially came here for my daughter. Now I also train here. For my 11 year old daughter it has been one of the best decisions I have made as a parent. From Jiu Jitsu she has not only started down a path to where she will be able to better handle herself in an altercation but the additional benefits include exercise, strategy, mechanics, leverage, hard work, failure and success. Most of all it’s really FUN! This is mandatory for my child and I can’t recommend it enough.
I dropped in one Friday for a 12:00PM class. Three black belts, a brown belt, and two purple belts on the mat, pretty strong room for a lunch time. We had some great scraps without hurting each other. The head coach, Nobu, whooped up on me in a nice and technical way. I've competed against students from this academy and they're fierce. Thank you for letting me train!
This was the first BJJ gym I googled and went too and boy did I get lucky. With over 20 black belts under professor Nobuo the diversity in lessons is invaluable. Could not ask for a better bjj gym. Family type of environment and good training every time. GO TO THIS SCHOOL. You won’t be disappointed.
Great school! I moved to Denver not very long ago and was a little intimidated to find a new gym but everyone at this school is incredibly nice and have made me feel nothing but welcome. If you're looking for a good place to train in the Denver or Aurora area I would highly recommend it.
Way of Jiu Jitsu has been a great addition to our family. We are a family of six, and we all have the opportunity to learn here. I think the best part about this place is that we all have the opportunity to learn at our own pace. Whether it's the kids which are learning the fundamentals, or an adult looking for a great workout. Also, if you're looking for competition, there isn't a shortage of those who push each other to get better. The curriculum that our professor offers is like none I've ever seen before. I'd like to add the training here has allowed me to over 50lbs since I've started.We have been here now for nearly a year and none of us could imagine our weeks without training here. This is a very family oriented gym with everyone willing to look out and help each other. Thank you for what you're doing for our family.

Professor Nobuo Yagai is the reason Way of Jiu Jitsu is the best academy I have ever had the honor to train at. His deep insight, historical knowledge, credentials and personal experience makes training truly remarkable and unique. I got at least 5 times a week because of how much I love training here.

I was recommended this place by a friend who is a black belt from another gym. I have been training here for 4 months now and I’m so pleased with the facility, instruction, camaraderie and mutual respect. As a 42 year old guy new to jiujitsu it can be intimidating and humbling to meet the challenges of consistently showing up to train. This place gets me excited and I couldn’t be happier. Very grateful for this gym, the first class instructors and fellow members. If you’ve ever thought about trying Jiujitsu, do yourself a favor and give this gym a try!
I never thought to do any martial art before, but after hearing about what jiu jitsu meant to my husband, I was curious. My first time at this gym I was uneasy of what to expect and how my abilities (or lack of) would be received. The staff and its members were patient, polite, and understanding in showing me how my body movements could be improved and explained how I could create opportunities for myself in bad positions/situations. I would definitely recommend this gym to any one who wants to learn how to change perspectives in a supportive environment.

I have been going to Way of Jiu jitsu on and off for about 2 years. When I first showed up, Everyone was very welcoming. Professor Nobu took the time to let me know about the gym and showed me what they had to offer. After the first class I signed up and have been going ever since. The atmosphere and team/ family approach that professor Nobu and the other professors have in the gym is awesome. It’s always a great time training and there is a vast amount of experience at every level. If your new to the sport or just starting out, I would highly recommend Way of Jiu Jitsu to anyone in the Denver area. They are also very military supportive and offer kids classes.
I visited Way of Jiu Jitsu during my vacations visiting my brother in law. It has top technical instruction, a big mat and I felt welcomed by coaches and students. Prof. Nobuo is an ADCC veteran and it was great to learn from him. Highly recommended.

So many great things!! But my favorite- my 6 year old had a really bad dream. I sat with him for a while and then he came and found me and said,” mom, do you know how I’m staying calm? I’m using my jiu jitzu breathing to clear my mind of all the scary thoughts”

Moved to Colorado in October and looked around for the right atmosphere, fell in love with Way of Jiu Jitsu. Great instruction and the best kids program I’ve ever seen! My two oldest kids have gained confidence from the instruction and training they’ve received.
I just started coming here with my two kids about two months now. I do the adult classes while they do the kids classes and we love coming here. Its such an easy going environment with no judgement and everyone is so friendly! I recommend anyone to join this academy.
Incredible instruction in Jiu Jitsu and Judo. Friendly environment for kids, teens, and adults. Seminars from highly ranked sources of Jiu Jitsu are available (8th degree coral belt Rigan Machado). The seminar from Olympic gold medalist Sensei Satoshi Ishiii was phenomenal. Many time slots to choose from, and another satellite location is available at Stanley Marketplace in the Central Park area.

Great place for anyone! Professor is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. Been coming here for about a year now and not once have I felt unwelcome or overwhelmed. Training atmosphere is one of looking to get better and improve as opposed to everyone having super high intensity all the time which has helped me improve tremendously.
Beginner or experienced, you will feel at home at Way of Jiu Jitsu. Almost a year ago, I walked into the school with no prior BJJ experience. I was instantly welcomed and helped by belts of all levels. Professor Nobu’s lesson are absolutely second to none. He leaves brute force techniques at the door and instead instructs his students to focus on form and first master the basics of moves. Every class is instructive, unique, and fun. The gym is competitive and challenging, yet friendly and accepting. Way of Jiu Jitsu is a second family to me, and the atmosphere Professor Nobu and all of the instructors have created makes WoJJ one of the best places in the world to train. Whether you’re a new white belt or a higher belt trying to find a new gym, I HIGHLY recommend Way of Jiu Jitsu.

Personally, I have grown as a BJJ practitioner and as a person. The mental skills that I have acquired from Way of Jiu Jitsu I am using in my daily life and business. Professor Nobu and the other great instructors have helped my game considerably. My 8 year old son has also started to practice at Way of Jiu Jitsu and watching his confidence grow, as well as the other kids in kids class, has been exactly what I hoped for. He has gained self confidence, discipline, and respectfulness. Coach's Drake, Cody, Rob, Preston, Jalen and Quinn are great with the kids and the kids enjoy learning from these coaches. It is great to watch the kids smile and enjoy learning while trying challenging moves and lessons. Can't say enough nice things about my experience at Way of Jiu Jitsu.
I've been training here for about 9 months now and I totally love this academy. The instructors are excellent, and the community of students is really great. This is a great school! Very welcoming and community oriented. Multiple instructors with different perspectives. The fundamentals classes provide a great introduction to Jiujitsu for new students. Instruction is detail oriented and the instructors make an effort to understand each student's goals and help them meet and exceed them. Two locations with full schedules, classes 7 days a week, morning, noon, and evening to fit any schedule!
I whole heartedly recommend this gym. I've trained at Way of Jiu Jitsu Academy for 2 years, and the experience has been fantastic. The head professor is a multi sport black belt (karate, judo, BJJ) with a training style that is focused on developing each individual to be their own personal best. In addition to the head professor, there are many other black belts who instruct and train regularly with rest of us. The level of instruction and technical knowledge with this gym is among the best anywhere, and definitely one of the best schools in Denver.

If you're a good person, you'll love it here. A relaxed atmosphere for fun rolls with all different kinds of people, could be an MMA prodigy or it could be a guy in his 60s who just wants to keep active, it could be a badass Mom or a former pro athlete. The only way this works is because there is no ego here, everybody from new white-belts to experienced butt-kickers are humble(d) to the core through the sport/art of BJJ.
This place is the place to be if you’re at all interested in BJJ! The coaches actually answer questions and everyone there is friendly and accommodating to newcomers.

At the Way of Jiu Jitsu Academy, students are not just taught Jiu Jitsu. Students are also taught Judo. The basis of this supplemental training is that over 95% of the fights start from standing. In Jiu Jitsu, the goal is to close the distance and to take the fight to the ground and manage the distance. In Judo, such throws as Uchi Mata, Osoto Gari, and Ouchi Gari are some of the most effective throws in closing the distance and taking the fight to the ground. Once the fight goes to the ground, students are taught various joint locking techniques and control techniques that will enable your opponent to submit. Professor Nobuo Yagai, Chief Instructor at the Way of Jiu Jitsu, earned his black belt at the Kodokan Judo Institute. The Kodokan Institute is the headquarters of the world wide Judo community. In Japanese, Kodokan means a school for studying the Way. Students at the Way of Jiu Jitsu are taught the way of how to use leverage and not strength in fighting an opponent who is bigger and stronger than you are.

When I first moved to Denver, CO from California about a year ago, one of the first things on my list was to find a Jiu-Jitsu academy where I can continue to train and stay in shape. I am so fortunate to find Colorado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where I was welcomed and greeted by a great group of people that I consider my extended family on and off the mats. Professors: Dave, Nobuo, and Keith are all excellent instructors who demonstrate great techniques as well as the philosophies of Jiu-Jitsu. I am very happy to call CBJJ my new home and would highly recommend all to visit this academy!!!
I bought two 6 week trial packages for my boys 5 and 11 for $145 I have the email receipt to prove it. Unfortunately an emergency came up and we couldn't take the boys to their first day at the mat . I emailed them asking for a refund but no reply. My husband called and was told to send them an email. So I did again and nothing. This was almost 2 weeks ago. My kids don't even want to participate nomore they lost interest after we came back to town...so I really don't see why I can't get a refund since they never even showed up.
