I travel for work and a lot of my training now is dropping into BJJ schools. As someone who’s trained consistently for over 7 years and have visited quite a few academies this one ranks towards the top. I watched Professor Luis pay attention and provide detail to students of all levels, from the senior students all the way down to the 2 trial class students. He was constantly motivating and keeping students engaged. When rolling with him he could have easily highlight reeled me, but he moved at a speed that constantly made me create space to escape and fight out just to fall into another trapped position. It was a humbling, but fun experience. If you’re trying it out for the first time, it’s a great first time experience. If you’re dropping in, it’s a very easy and fun experience. I definitely recommend it and will be back when work sends me this way again.
Posted 9 months agoOur boys are thoroughly enjoying the BJJ classes here with Coach Washington Luis. He is great with the kids in class, encouraging them, motivating them and challenging them. He is kind and patient while also maintaining discipline and structure. His personal achievements in BJJ are incredibly impressive, yet he is very down to earth and humble. We’ve loved our experience so far and are looking forward to seeing our boys progress in their classes. 😄

I have followed him through two schools to his own academy because of his dedication, expertise, and the personal investment he makes in everyone he teaches. He doesn’t just coach Jiu-Jitsu—he mentors and supports his students in all aspects of their lives. What truly sets him apart is how amazing he is with kids. My son started in the kids' class with Professor Washington and, under his patient and inspiring guidance, has grown into the adult class with confidence and skill. The academy has a warm, family-like atmosphere that reflects his kindness and leadership. If you're looking for world-class coaching and a supportive environment, this is the place to be.

Posted 8 months agoWe were in town, visiting friends, who are students of Professor Washington. We decided to drop-in in one of his classes. Professor Washington welcomed us as if we were his own students. Great teaching from a world class athlete, and very humble too. If we lived in Houston, our family would gladly enroll in his academy.
