I have been training at Warrior Jiu Jitsu Castro Valley for about 6 months, with prior experiences (very much on and off) for about 8 years and at four different gyms; switching due to relocation the first three times, and this last time due to life events and having Warrior's schedule being one of the only local gyms that I was able to make work, in order to get back on the mats. I can only speak to the morning classes as I have yet to attend an evening class. I knew the type of gym I wanted for the type of training that I do: Safe, fun, technical, and one that did not have funnels to extract every dollar out of you. There are no paid belt tests. There are no required branded uniforms. There are no set franchise curriculum or contracts. Warrior Jiu Jitsu nurtures world class, medal-winning, athletes in a relaxed and welcoming environment for people of all ages, as well to those who train for different reasons. The classes are diverse of age, gender, ethnicity, of varying belt ranks, which is a big green flag. Bonus: plenty of parking

I started coming to Warrior six months ago because I promised myself that I would get into a regular exercise habit before I hit 40. I hadn’t exercised consistently in about five years—thanks to the pandemic, having two babies, work, and, honestly, just life. Every time I thought about getting back into a routine, the idea of going to the gym or getting on the Peleton bike felt like this huge mental hurdle. I needed something different- something that didn’t feel like a chore and that fit my schedule. I was definitely intimidated at first. As a woman, the idea of doing something so physical, especially in a mostly male environment, was way outside my comfort zone. But from the first class, the vibe was super welcoming and low-pressure. The coaches are great at meeting you where you're at, and there’s a real focus on learning, safety, and building confidence at your own pace. And the best part? It’s actually fun and meeting people I normally would not meet has been exciting. Every class challenges me, but in the best way. I’m getting stronger, I’m learning new skills, and I’m doing something just for me—which is rare when you're a mom juggling kids and work. If you’re someone who’s been out of the game for a while, or if the idea of walking into a gym makes you cringe, I seriously recommend giving this a try. You don’t have to be in shape. You don’t have to know what you’re doing. Just show up. I did—and I’m so glad I took that first step.

Have been training at Warrior for 2 years, and prior to that I trained at 2 other gyms. Amazing place to train and everyone truly cares about one another. I highly recommend if you are thinking about trying out a class. Jorge & Chris care about your development and have fantastic knowledge.

Had a great drop-in class at Warrior BJJ in Castro Valley. Jorge treated me as if I was one of his own students. Amazing attention to details and technique. Back to back rolling session. I appreciate you for pushing me. I’ll definitely need to stop by again. 🙏🏿 for having me.

I do not recommend this place and do not enroll your child in this academy, you will be paying for an older child with a lot of experience to beat up your child, my daughter barely had 5 classes with them and he made her fight with a girl who is the daughter of a teacher and has been practicing for a long time, and the teacher did nothing to stop the fight and by the way when the time was up the teacher told my daughter that it was a real fight, in other words he let my daughter fight a real fight without any training with a much older girl and with a lot of training, they are not professionals at all to do that, my daughter left the class crying traumatized, that is why I tell you not to take your child here because they will traumatize him. Also during the fight the teacher was half happy and excited to see the scene because his daughter was hitting my daughter and he couldn’t stop the fight… please be careful.
