Visited the gym for the first time this morning. I box 2-3 times a week in New Jersey and was looking for a regular boxing gym in DC where I work. Loved it. Arturo coached this morning session, it was a Bootcamp Boxing so a nice mix of combinations on heavy bag and some butt kicking exercises. Excited to try another format tomorrow. Last thing I will add is that every gym has their own aura, and I really liked what I felt. Serious fighters sparring while still welcoming to fitness focused boxers.
Posted 8 months agoGreat gym with welcoming staff and members, and super knowledgeable coaches. Highly recommend for all levels! Pricey membership but unlimited classes
Posted 8 months agoWonderful boxing gym! I’m visiting from Miami, where I practice boxing every week, and found this place nearby the hotel. Communication with the managers via email was easy. The coach was very welcoming, and the CLASS WAS EXCELLENT, tougher than expected! Great atmosphere, with wraps available for purchase at a reasonable price and gloves to borrow if needed. The gym was very clean and well organized. We’ll keep coming during our visit!
Posted 9 months agoThe staff at this location are very friendly and knowledgeable. As a boxing practitioner of many years, I greatly appreciate the warm personalities and the expertise that is offered here. I highly recommend if you live on the West End of DC and need a place to work on your skills. The coaches here will get you cleaned up!
Posted 10 months agoI started to learn boxing at here since June, 2023, almost 2 years and I need to leave due to relocation. I’ll miss here, the coach team is professional and the people are friendly. A great place for amateurs, professionals or just some exercise to keep you healthy and make new friends!
Posted 1 year agoI’ve only taken one class here, the free trial, and I already know I’m going to sign up, great atmosphere, great people, teachers are so amazing and down to help, and you’re not going to get a deal this good anywhere in DC tbh
Unlike a lot of other boxing gyms, Urban Boxing has instructors who care about the sport and who each bring their own style to their classes. They are happy to teach you. And people are generally friendly. Overall Urban Boxing is a safe, effective, and friendly place to learn the sweetest science.
I brought my partner in for a free trial class and we were sold before we left! We didn’t even plan to purchase a membership because the holidays and travel were around the corner but it was a great time to start and really motivated me to get back into a fitness routine with their varying offerings from boxing to pilates to ab workouts. Super excited to stay with Urban Boxing long term!
Arturo is the best Coach and the best Man! 🥊🥊
Great training, new gear, awesome training partners and coaches. I did the muay thai class, fantastic. Appreciate the hospitality and training.
Great gym and great people. I loved the gym and the training. I will 100% recommend it. Came Houston for business and they welcome me with open arms.
My first class was with Arturo. He was great, showed me everything I needed in order to take the class. Helped me with the gloves and everything. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good work out. Also they are very flexible and understanding when it comes to people being out of town.
This place is awesome for a lot of reasons. As someone who has done several MMA gyms Urban positions itself perfectly. They have cardio classes for people who just want to learn how to throw a punch while getting in a good work out, to more complex footwork and combo's, all the way to sparring. It the world of MMA hobbyists Urban truly has something for everyone. Lastly I'd like to say other gyms tend to have long term contracts that are quite a headache to cancel. Urban gives you a month to month contract and when I had to cancel it (due to changing jobs so going was no longer easy) I was expecting all kinds of hidden fees and stuff gyms normally do but there was NONE OF THIS. Dealing with Urban was awesome from start to finish and if your considering an MMA gym or boxing its a fantastic place to start.
It’s the best boxing gym in the area, I went as a beginner and the coaches are always helpful to all skill levels so you don’t feel left behind. Always feel like I learn something new when I go to the classes, or I improve at technique or cardio. Everyone from the front desk to support team and coaches are awesome.
just started out boxing and already loving it. Arturo makes the classes super engaging - I am always surprised at how fast they go, how I leave wanting to come back and get better, and also how sore I am the next day!
My first classes with Iffy and Christian were both amazing! Two really knowledgeable instructors who keep great energy going throughout the entire class time. The classes are fun, challenging, and constructive, and the vibe of the gym is great! Even during busy hours, there's a focused calm in the air that makes the environment really special to walk into. Excited to start my membership!
Great class schedule with a diverse set of skills and workouts to try and practice. A great place to workout but also really focus on technique and skill!
Amazing gym with helpful and knowledgeable coaches who will push you hard to improve yourself!! Special thanks to Arturo and Kara for the letter of support that I needed. I’m very grateful!
In town from the Bronx for a quick stay to set up my daughter in her new apartment. No way I was not making time to drop in to UB for a workout at this special gym. High energy, friendly trainers and the members are very cool people. The boxing equipment is well-kept and the facility is super clean with a very positive vibe. Any time I’m in DC I make a point of coming here for a great workout. Definitely drop-in friendly. Highly recommended for all levels.
This review was a long time coming! Earlier this month I visited Urban Boxing DC while on a business trip in town. I was staying over at the Fairmont, which is literally a block and a half away from this place, along with a bunch of other convenient hotels downtown. I’ve been training muay thai for about 10 years, and have reached an age where the gas tank isn’t as full as it used to be, and it takes me longer than I want to admit to heal up from normal training injuries. That is to say, I live in both the “too old to deal with egos” world and the “been around long enough to appreciate a great gym” world. That said, here’s my review of Urban Boxing DC: 1) Convenience: Incredibly convenient if you’re staying near foggy bottom. The gym has a really convenient schedule of classes that range from beginner cardio classes to moderate/hard sparring classes, all peppered throughout the week. If you’re strictly aiming to go the nak muay route, the boxing classes may not be your jam. But otherwise, it’s fantastic. 4.5/5 2) Customer Service: I can’t say enough about how impressed I am by the customer service of this place; a perfect score doesn’t do it justice. Before I came into town, I called the gym and asked about options to train just for the week I was there. The guy who runs the place picked up and asked me a few questions about my experience and what I was looking for. He said they have folks come from out of town often, and keep spare gloves and shinpads available to folks who drop in. All you need to bring are your own wraps, and even those you can just buy there. They have a 5-day pass which was reasonably priced, and you could take as many classes as you want in a day. In my case, I only was able to actually train for 3 of the 5 days, due to my meetings schedule. When I shared this with the gym’s owner, he was like “dude, I’ll cut you a deal” and I got a 3-day pass plus a 1-on-1 coaching session with their muay thai coach. I was floored by how flexible and accommodating he was. Easily 5/5. 3) Training Quality: Starting with the disclaimer that training quality is, to some extent subjective, I was overall pleased with my experience. The beginners’ classes don’t have you working with each other, but rather doing almost entirely heavy bag work, repeating combos and doing calisthenics between “rounds”. If you’re looking for a workout, it’s amazing. If you’re looking for a chance to get padwork in, not so much. The advanced class was a lot more engaging. I did the Level 2 kickboxing class and it was well paced work in pairs throwing combo for combo, before ending with free sparring rounds. The folks in the class were polite, and the free sparring was controlled. What I really enjoyed though was my 1-on-1 with Christian Brown, the muay thai coach they have on staff. Christian trains in Thailand and had a TON of insight to share. Where I’m a muay khao fighter, I often struggle with zone 2 forward pressure, especially in a kickboxing ruleset where you can’t clinch or use elbows. Christian had me working on long knees combined with really clever hand traps that I’d not seen before, and it’s proved effective in my sparring since. Overall, I’d give this a 4.5/5. And that’s my review! The community in the gym is fantastic, and I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting DC, or anyone living in Foggy Bottom who’s looking for a great local gym to workout and train in.
First class was great, the instructor provided clear instructions for the workout. The moment you walk into the gym its a warm welcome and the people working out are friendly.
Had an amazing first and second class. The vibes are super friendly, welcoming and fun while simultaneously delivering a tough workout with experienced coaches who give one-to-one feedback. Best kind of place: people take what they’re doing seriously, but don’t take themselves too seriously
Excellent facility. The trainers are experienced and attentive. The classes truly offer options for all levels, I've had issues finding a facility that can offer intermediate skills along with beginner and advanced and they do a great job of that here. Train with Iffy and Allison!
I came to DC on vacation and I needed a place to burn off this vacation food. I looked up boxing gyms in this area and I picked Urban Boxing just based off their website. This didn’t seem like a corporate fitness gym, it seemed like a real fight gym. I wasn’t disappointed. Urban Boxing was great! I did the 6:40pm class with Coach Ange and it was great! Good cardio and great coaching on the technique. Great service at the front desk as well. I’ll be spending the rest of my vacation there 😂 -Ermias
This place is amazing!
The first class was very high energy and fun it was great.
great boxing class and the gym, teachers, and everyone there is approachable/unintimidating!
Best coaches, best community, and best facilities in the area. They offer a class schedule that can work for anyone and at a reasonable price. Get some privates with Coach Mike to get you right!!
this is an excellent workout! even if you have never boxed before, not a problem. they have personal trainers available who can get you up to speed very quickly. i have been working with mike who is great. crane and liam are welcoming and make everything hassle free!
This gym is the best environment to get a good workout and learn a new skill! I go to classes here 1-2 times per week and love working with Coach Josh and Coach Mike. The classes are fun and engaging, and the front desk is always so friendly and helpful.
This gym is very welcoming. I took the morning boxing class and it gave me a good sweat. I also purchased a Private Lesson for a more tailored boxing training experience. The equipment is great and they actually maintain/clean their equipment (after class, I saw someone that was designated to clean the mats). Overall, I enjoyed my time at this gym and will definitely be coming back.
This gym is a standout. I've been attending Urban Boxing Foggy Bottom for 5 months. As a decade-long distance runner, I was looking to add some strength and agility, and frankly a bit of self-defense, to my training. This gym - from its business model (recurring monthly fee: attend as many classes as you want and/or engage in your own workouts independently) to its coaches to its community - has far exceeded my expectations. For context, I've stuck with Boxing, although UBFB also offers Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai workouts. The coaches and classes each have different styles, allowing you to blend cardio, strength, HIIT, technique, and both offensive and defensive tactics into your workout routine. The team (I've primarily worked with Crane, Josh, Arturo, Christian, & Kelly) are top notch, somehow managing the culture of a group class while offering individual recommendations and feedback on form. The other gym members are welcoming & encouraging, often giving thoughtful advice during partner work. In terms of leveling: I'd learned basic boxing fundamentals 10+ years ago but hadn't picked up a pair of gloves since. You can absolutely start at ground zero, and every class gives you an opportunity to improve different aspects of your game, while subtly incorporating the rounds + rest style of a real match. UBFB offers intro level up through sparring. Can't speak highly enough of this crew. Stop on in for a free class. You won't regret it.
Love this gym! The coaches and staff are friendly, welcoming, and knowledgable. There's something for everyone here whether you're a beginner or an experienced fighter, and I've never been in better shape. I also recently started taking Brazilian jiu-jitsu and really enjoy the instruction and camaraderie.
The best gym in town good environment
When I moved to DC a few years back I was looking for places to train and that’s when I found Urban boxing. Such great teachers with Josh, Arturo, and Mike for Muay Thai, boxing and jiujitsu! I actually met Mike back when he was Picked up by the UFC so definitely great finding My new training place!
Started jiu jitsu here two years ago and veneer stopped. Great coaches and great community!
If you’re looking for a full mind and body workout you have to try Coach Mike’s jiu jitsu program. It is the best in town! Would definitely recommend!
I’ve been boxing here with the amazing boxing staff and recently started taking jiu jitsu classes as well. The experience of the staff and environment of the gym has brought me back daily.
I absolutely love taking the jiu-jitsu classes here. Mike is very thorough with his explanations of moves and the clientele is friendly and willing to work with you on techniques you may want to learn
Facilities are great, coaches are patient experts, and BJJ with Coach Easton is challenging and fun!
My favorite boxing gym in the DMV! I'm still pretty new to DC and was initially hesitant about signing up, but when I walked in for the first time, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Also, the overall client/customer base seems to consist of nearby working professionals and college students who are also friendly. So you won't feel intimidated joining any of the classes. Regarding the instructors, they are all very patient and professional with impressive martial arts backgrounds. In particular, I've been taking personal training sessions with Coach Kelly McGrath for a few weeks and I noticed significant improvements in my boxing skills and cardiovascular endurance. Coach Kelly is a very knowledgeable boxing expert and a five-time Australian champion, but also one of the funniest and most positive people I've ever met. Overall 5/5 place!
I had this gym saved on Google maps for months before signing up. I’m so glad I did. The environment is welcoming, the vibe is immaculate and the instructors are patient, approachable and really know their stuff. It’s a place for a workout, yes, but you also learn boxing skills (which I felt was missing at other gyms I tried.) The community is also supportive here and laid back- makes it fun to work out.
Urban boxing is without a doubt one of the best combat fitness experiences I've ever participated in my over 30 years of working out from martial arts dojos to fitness centers. First, the membership (roughly between $40 to $50 a week) provides all-you-can-eat membership access to all classes at all four of their locations. Second, the ownership does not lock people into oppressive 6 month or one year contracts, and will freeze or cancel a membership if asked. Urban boxing has so much faith in their product (namely their classes and environment) that they don't need to lock people into contracts to keep their members, and that says a lot about the quality of the experience. The gyms are well kept, clean, and functional, maintained with friendly staff and members who are more than happy to assist first time class attendees with anything from wrapping their hands to showing them the membership options upon completing the first complimentary free class which gives prospective members the opportunity to try a class before committing. Moving onto the staff, they really are the best reason to go to Urban Boxing. The staff are almost all either former professional or in some cases current professional or amateur fighters with years and sometimes decades of experience. They all bring a unique wealth of experience and expertise to the classes and each class is different and varied, which prevents boredom while not allowing your body to acclimate to a mundane routine workout over and over unlike some other fitness gyms such as title boxing. The members are the second best reason to go to Urban boxing. You have an eclectic mix of fitness-focused members who are just interested in classes, to actual professional fighters focusing on their next bouts. It's not uncommon to see members of local university boxing clubs working out alongside significantly older members with a level of camaraderie and teamwork that would rival any sports club I've ever been a part of. The variety of classes is also excellent, you have two levels of boxing focusing on either bag work to member drills and mitt work along with an all levels boxing class for cardio and integration of fundamental concepts. You have kickboxing and Muay Thai classes, as well as both an introduction to sparring and intermediate sparring classes that are excellently overseen by the instructors ensuring safety is maintained. If you've ever wanted to have the experience of stepping in the ring against an opponent Urban boxing easily provides one of the best and most successful glide paths to make that aspiration a reality. Urban boxing also participates and helps members participate in a wide variety of events in the DC area. Whether it's helping members secure amateur bouts to being a training gym for multiple fighters in the Haymakers for Hope charity events, they are committed and dedicated to meeting all their members combat sports needs. They also have a limited shop selling mouth guard, wraps, and boxing gloves on site in case you forget anything. Urban boxing is the best combat fitness experience in DC, hands down, and you definitely should take the opportunity to try it out.
Great gym!! I’ve been going since January of this year and love it! I knew absolutely nothing about boxing when I first started, but wanted a workout that I was excited about and wanted to improve on, and urban boxing was that fit! The coaches are amazing and take the time to make sure you understand the exercises, how a move would work in a fight, and how to defend yourself. The community at urban boxing is also amazing, everyone is super friendly and welcoming. I’m so glad I found urban boxing!!
I was in DC for work. I box in Arizona and brought my gloves to check out the local scene. I found Urban Boxing online and joined the Tuesday at 6:40pm class with Mike- it was great! He stopped by my bag and offered some suggestions on my punching form. And he worked us. It was an awesome class. The bags have room to move around and get into a groove.
I'm not a gym person. I would sign up a regular gym membership and quit after a short period of time when I'm bored with it. Having quite a bit of different experience at Urban Boxing at Foggy Bottom, which surprises me. I've joined for 5 months already. I enjoy attending Josh's classes very much. He is an awesome instructor. It's fun, and I see the results.
I’m from out of town and was looking for a boxing gym that is similar to back home, this exceeded my expectations and literally felt like “home away from home”. Arturo was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. He provided me with everything that I needed for the class and also showed me the techniques and combos. Arturo made the class challenging yet fun, what felt like 30 mins was actually an hour. I will definitely be stopping back in for future classes!
This is a phenomenal place! The coaches are extremely supportive and help you reach your goals no matter what they look like. All coaches I've trained with are super knowledgeable and meet people at their level. The training is intense, but it is a welcoming environment and the membership is affordable. A real deal boxing gym with classes all the time in muay thai, bjj, boxing, and the occasional yoga or abs session. Best choice I've made in DC was to join this gym!
So, what’s really great about this place, is that not only are you learning and drilling technique, but you are learning conditioning and really experiencing what fighters go through when training for fights. It’s the best in all around experience I’ve had here in DC. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn and train from excellent coaches.
Yo, this is the bomb—the real deal. Christian knows what he’s about when it comes to Muay Thai. Great workout, great staff, and better technique. This place is worth it!
Great environment with great instructors and classes. Great vibe too.
Best boxing gym in the DMV! Especially love working with Josh, his classes are both challenging and fun. He’s very focused on a holistic and realistic approach to exercise, he melds boxing, cardio, and core work to create an extremely fun and effective class and one on one experience. I feel energized after leaving but fully focused and engaged while going through the hour long classes. The whole team at Urban Boxing are extremely helpful, giving, patient and cool. From class 1 three years ago, til now, I wouldn’t want to go to any other boxing gym in DC.
I recently moved to D.C. and this gym has made it feel like home. Crane told me that I would be hooked from my first workout, he wasn't wrong. I couldn't even do a pushup when I first walked in. Now, I look forward to each day I can make it to a class. Coaches like Joshua and Arturo will show you how much you are capable of. This is a community of growth and strength, join it.
Hands down the best gym because of the people who work and run Foggy Bottom Urban Boxing. The best decision I have ever made. The workouts with Joshua and Arturo have change my life physically as well as personally. The workouts are fun, hard and rewarding .But most of all you feel well cared for and know your in good hands and can see your goals achieved. You leave the gym after each work out ready to tackle the world with confidence and a sense of family behind you. All I can say is JOIN you will not regret it. And to the staff at Foggy Bottom you are the best of the best.
I'm going to miss the people there
Amazing gym! I took a trial class today and I was super impressed. My class instructor was Monica and she was fantastic! I’m excited to take classes at this gym this fall. Great workout !
This is a wonderful MMA gym. Highly recommend. I'm a former competitive Taekwondo athlete and I'm able to get a my own solo workouts in and take a wide variety of martial arts classes. The facility is clean ans Creative with its space. The managers and coaches are relaxed, thoughtful and positive. The clients are really diverse - everyone feels comfortable there.
Great gym. Dell is amazing! Very inclusive environment. Safe, fun, and clean.
Through 5 years of living here, this is easily the best gym in the city. The sense of community is strong, coaches are extremely talented and patient, and the different levels allows for progression over time. My only regret is not taking more 1:1 classes with coaches before I moved. Would recommend this gym to anybody I know!
Urban Boxing at Foggy Bottom has been awesome to me. The overall vibe is amazing. I felt to be part of a great community. All the trainers are super nice and take an interest in you no matter what fitness level you’re at. From the management, to the trainers, by far the nicest and most knowledgeable staff in the business today. The music and the atmosphere is awesome. You will not do the same workout twice and if you go you will see the results no question. It’s a life changing gym experience and I recommend it highly to all my fiends and family.
I attended two classes with Arturo while I was visiting DC. It was a really welcoming environment and Arturo made the class challenging but fun. Highly recommend this boxing gym. Thanks for such a warm welcome!
Josh knows what’s up! Appreciate the corrections. Crane at front desk is a sweetheart. Come for a good workout and learn the fundamentals of boxing.
I got to train here for jiu Jitsu on a recent trip to DC for open mat. Great experience. Crane (sp?)runs the gym and he’s great to learn from regarding boxing — gave me some great tips for helping my kid. Open mat was no easy task either — lots of situational and really pushed the pace. Awesome experience. Mike Easton (fought in UFC) is the black belt instructor here. Will be back if I’m ever in the city again.
I'm training with the amazing Kelly McGrath (5x Australian boxing champion) at Urban Boxing. Great friendly gym. I'm a boxing beginner, but Kelly makes it the perfect balance of fun & challenging & exhausting!
I joined the 6:40 Monday class with Marko who was great! It was a high energy and fun workout. The workouts were no joke and you will be pushed but it was worth the visit and will definitely go back!
I love it here. It’s a great environment and I’m not a huge gym fan, but this place is a different kind of gym, it’s rad. All of the coaches are great- all help you when you’re in class- for me, to help correct my form and give helpful advice- && most importantly, You get an amazing workout. I like all of the coaches who all unique and talented, but special thanks to coach Jordan.
Awesome classes and coaches.
Free class was so Much funnnn
Best boxing gym in dc. Awesome instructors and crane who runs the place is the man. Great for people of all ages and genders
Great gym with great coaches. A fun experience and workout.
Love it!!!!
Wonderful gym. I'm from Berlin and had a great time there when I was as living in D.C. It's a great place to work on your physique and condition. There are also great coaches that will help you if you are more ambitious and would like to work on your technique and maybe even fight. I still go back whenever I'm back in town and it's always a pleasure! Thanks guys for being so welcoming every time!
Awesome community. Crane runs the shop like a complete boss. Personal training with Joshua and Brandon, classes with Suli…incredible to be learning from people like them. Classes are intense, varied, will push you to your limits. Next day, you’re gonna know you did a workout.
Excellent instructors & classes!! Everyone working there is so friendly and genuine which makes it a fantastic experience each time. I’m so happy I signed my son up to urban boxing.
Jordan is an excellent trainer. My legs are on fire! I can’t recommend this place enough.
I'd like to take a moment & thank the wonderful people at Urban Boxing. Starting with Mr. Crane & his entire team. From the 1st day I joined the boxing gym, they welcomed me in. They truly have a family environment. Not only that, its true hard work & dedication. They live it & breath it here!! Going on 5 months in September & I still love it just as much as the 1st day. All the trainers are badass too!! Great men, that are driven, focused & truly love what they do!! They teach you, are truly patient with you and encourage/inspire you along the way!! Nothing but greatness ahead for each of them. Urban Boxing has changed my life in ways that are unspeakable. Eternally Grateful. 100% Highly recommended!! 10/10 - Stylz Out
got a membership for the summer while I was interning in DC and I had such an awesome experience—the space, the classes, the instructors (I mostly went to Jordan, Mike, and Iffy’s classes) are all such a great vibe. If you’re new to boxing I’d recommend going to the more intro-level classes first to get familiar with the terms & techniques, especially for kickboxing (weds with Iffy)!
Urban Boxing is the best! I started going there daily this past year and felt significant improvement in my cardio, strength and balance. Every coach has a unique teaching style and every class offers something different. You will get a great workout whichever class you choose. The coaches will encourage you and push you to your limit. You may feel exhausted at the end of a class, but you will see the result!
What a great gym! Crane gave me a warm welcome and all the coaches I worked with - Josh, Charles, Arturo and Jordan really knew their stuff (Arturo has the best taste in music though!). I came for the boxing - which was really good, and then started on kickboxing too... Thank you! I learnt a lot and can't recommend it highly enough... I hope to be back one day soon!
Urban boxing is legit. Josh, Crane, and Arturo were all extremely friendly and highly skilled. They've designed classes to include a great combination between intense workouts while also teaching technique/skill. If you're wondering if you should go to Urban Boxing in Foggy Bottom, at least pop in and talk to staff. You won't be disappointed!
When my 14 yo son said to me “mom, I want to try boxing” I thought: “great! But how on earth do I get into the boxing world not knowing anything , and, it’s it going to be an ok place for a kid?” UB was incredible, they walked him through the into process, treated him like a kid with kindness but also as a serious athlete. They are patient, kind, and approachable. Christian and Josh in particular, are spectacular trainers and really great people. Crane is at the desk and is informed, kind, and a super friendly presence to greet you. My son is certainly challenged, and leaves the place feeling so great about himself every time:like going to church! We love UB and will continue to train there as long as we can!
Neat boxing gym!
Super professional, honest, and with awesome atmosphere. No binding multi-month or yearly contracts for training- just as it should be. Also, awesome trainers and staff - totally recommend training here.
100% recommend Urban Boxing to anyone looking for a high-quality boxing gym! All of the coaches are knowledgeable and friendly. All levels are welcome! Kickboxing with Ify on Wednesday’s are awesome!
This is the best boxing gym I’ve been to in DC. Coaches take every opportunity to improve individual form and technique while giving the entire class an excellent workout. Every coach provides an intense and unique workout. I especially love the attention to form and technique that are provided in both Josh and Jeremy’s classes. This gym, and all of its coaches have improved my boxing form, technique, strength and stamina.
Love this boxing gym, it has ufc vibes and the classes are really fun. The coaches are all experts in their field and amazing teachers, each with their own style. Especially love Josh's classes since they're very technique focused!
Awesome experience, even as a beginner. The coach was really knowledgeable and friendly. Good equipment and clean space
I love urban boxing! The coaches are professionals, and yet make boxing feel accessible. I started kickboxing, then transitioned to taking all classes. You get the opportunity to train, spar, develop athletically and strategically. Would recommend urban boxing to anyone looking for not only a new workout routine, but a chance to feel empowered and strong inside and out!
I have spent the past 4 months going to URBAN boxing in DC to train both one on one and through their group classes. My body has transformed. I went from 180lbs to 165lbs, feel stronger than ever, all while having fun. Wether you want more stamina, get in shape, loose weight, etc etc, URBAN boxing is an excellent choice with excellent coaches. If you are on the fence, trust me and just come in for one class. I cannot more recommend Krane and his team of coaches. Joshua, Jordan and Randal are my three favorite coaches for different reasons. and depending on the type of workout you want what's awesome is that they each have their own style. Joshua is technical the most sound, he is a traditional boxer and focuses on getting it done right while building up your core. there are no two same workouts with joshua. I also recommend his 1:1. Jordan gets you sweating in no time with a brutally good mix of HIIT and boxing. Randal on the weekends reaches you different styles of boxing, with different stands and brings a fun atmosphere where everyone participates or else push ups for everyone. LOVE IT! Krane the manager is himself a gym nut and will help you with anything you need. The gym is super clean, people all have masks and I feel super safe going. Will you be sore after workouts? YES, but its functionally sore. I actually look forward to being sore, I know its crazy but true. Look no further if you want a diverse group of folks working out from all ages, background and styles. So many classes are available, boxing, kickboxing, abs, etc etc. Come check it out. Highly recommended!!! Don't worry if you know how to box or not, no matter your level, you will get a workout in and progress no matter your goals.
I love this gym. I joined with zero boxing experience and have always found the coaches to be encouraging, enthusiastic, and very knowledgable about the sport. The classes are tough workouts, but I'm definitely in better shape now than I was when I started. The coaches do a great job getting around to everyone to offer more personalized instruction and pay a lot of attention to technique. As a woman, it's a bit nerve-racking to jump into a male-dominated sport, but I've always felt super comfortable and uplifted by coaches, staff, and other students at Urban Boxing. The classes are a good mix of genders, too. If it's your first time taking a boxing class, make sure you sign up for one of the introductory levels. It's a fun, supportive gym and a great workout! Definitely recommend.
A terrific workout. Clean, great trainers, super fun.
Had a class with Josh Gomez last week. He is by far one of my favorite coaches in DC. I look forward to training with him more!
In D.C. on business for a business and needed something other than the hotel gym. This place was just what I wanted and needed. Friendly staff and fellow members. Great Instructors. If I lived in the areas I’d definitely continue working out there. Great neighborhood intimate workout vibe and can still get your killer workouts in.
I've been training at Urban Boxing for the last three months. I can confidently say that the facility and staff are outstanding. Each trainer will push you in very positive ways, helping you find and surpass your limits. I'm extremely thankful for Urban and enthusiastically recommend it to anyone looking to get in shape or learn boxing/martial arts.
Great classes, great coaches, and great facilities! Highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn boxing or get a great workout.
Great for all levels from beginners upwards.
Nice facilities and multiple classes to choose from.
The gym is nice and the trainers are nice but the gym needs a speed bag I never seen a boxing gym with no speed bags.
Don’t understand why there are so many 5stars. This place is just for people who want to lose weight. Although coaches are really nice and friendly, they don’t care about your technique. You won’t get good at boxing no matter how long you attend.
I have attended many fitness classes throughout DC and this was my least favorite. I can't speak to the company culture, but I felt my specific instructor was sexist. For the second portion of the class, all of the men were ushered over to the boxing ring where the instructor had them practicing skills and techniques and gave them his undivided attention. Meanwhile, us women were left on the floor to do "200 synchronized squats in a group" with our arms around one another. At the end of class, the instructor pulled me aside and told me I should "attend a beginner class first". The class I had signed up for was advertised as all levels, which seemed to come as a shock to him. Instructors should know the class they're teaching. Being singled out was also unkind. As an athlete who has taken many boxing and non-boxing exercise classes, I would consider myself well-equipped to handle most workouts. I found the entire experience unpleasant.
