Coach Rubie has made me feel like I CAN DO anything I put my mind to. She has made me feel more confident in myself. I have transformed drastically in my strength and body positivity. I went from barely being able to lift 45lbs to mid rowing like 1.5X my body weight. I have noticed the change in the span of a month. I was the pipsqueak in high school and have asthma and she’s helped me transition out of my asthma. I was having trouble keeping them under control and she’s helped me barely have them anymore.
Posted 1 year agoJust went into ufc gym today to get membership not only is the gym and recovery top notch but the customer is great to some guy by the name of TY showed me around and was great explaining and showing me everything safe to say ima member now 😂
Great experience at this UFC gym. The weight lifting area is huge , with a great variety of free weight and machines if you are uno bodybuilding. There are two turf areas with all you need for performance and endurance workouts, a full size octagon, a grappling mat and spinning room. The recovery area was one of the most complete I have seen in a commercial gym and last but not least, the stuff was friendly and very informative. Highly recommended this place .
The gym is very clean and well organized! Mark was very kind at the front desk and helped me set up an account really smoothly!
Marks the coolest dude ever. Wish we had this gym up in Rochester!!
Love this place. Staff is the best Jess, Andrew, Yaqub and Ruby have great customer service skills! And really know how to get you out of your shell trying new things!!
Amazing gym and awesome staff. Came here to check out when we were here for work
Continually blown away by the quality of all aspects! The facility is impressive, clean and well maintained. The entire team is incredibly cool & attentive. Training with Sterling is a vibe. His positivity and functional exercises combine for an uplifting, powerful session. Highly recommend!
I signed up with Mark & he was awesome! Can’t wait to get my shred on
Had a great experience at UFC Gym thanks to Mark Rutkowski! He keeps the place running smoothly and always greets members with a smile. The gym is clean, well-maintained, and Mark is super helpful with any questions. Definitely recommend checking it out - the positive atmosphere he helps create makes working out here a pleasure! 5/5 stars.
Gym is by far the best gym in Pittsburgh. Great machines, music, and atmosphere. Staff is helpful and friendly along with the gym being clean.
I'm just visiting for the week and when I was walking around my hotel I found this gym. I've always been a big ufc fan. So why try it. They offered me a free 3 day pass and it's been great. The gym is big and filled with tons of equipment. It was clean and the staff is super friendly. I would keep coming to this gym if I lived here.
Fantastic equipment! Haven’t tried out the extra stuff like the cryotherapy etc, but I’ve been a member for a few months now and have had great time!!
Great gym with lots of various equipments that you can choose from at a fair price too. Lots of space for different types of workouts! Mark was especially welcoming and willing to help with any questions I had. I recommend the gym.
I've been to many different gyms over the last 15+ years and I can confidently say that his gym is top tier & very fairly priced, especially for a gym downtown. Basic membership gains you access to free weights & equipment, plus other spaces (like spin cycles or bags) if they're not being occupied by classes. This gym & women's locker room and bathrooms are extremely clean & the equipment is brand new and great quality. I read some other reviews about poor management, but there is a new GM here, Jess, and she is outstanding. This gym has a ton of different options and amenities (classes, recovery, tanning, etc) which are obviously added costs. If you're interested in joining I'd recommend taking a tour & discussing with them what you're interested in to get the best idea of how much it will cost if you want more than just a basic gym membership. They also offer 2 free hours of parking at a nearby parking garage. Highly recommend this gym, especially if you live around downtown.
The gym was awesome. I’m not huge into fighting but I felt very welcomed and the employees were great especially Mark Rutkowski. Very friendly guy.
Stopped in on a day off from tour and was stoked to find a spacious gym with all the barbell stations I could ask for. Nice staff and clean, definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a workout spot in downtown Pittsburgh.
An affordable gym with ALL the amenities, Mark was helpful and really made it a comfortable experience. Thank you UFC.
Amazing experience, great gym highly recommend to anyone looking for a new gym or fitness classes. Mark was a great help he gave a great tour and explained everything.
Mark was fantastic and very helpful. This is my first time utilizing a UFC gym and he got me pumped for it!
One of the best full service gyms I've been too. High quality machines and very clean. Staff is extremely friendly. Love the recovery spa!
Staff is absolutely wonderful and kind mark knew exactly what he was talking about and was very helpful in setting up my account. Equipment is clean and facilities are very up to date and clean. Wonderful gym 10/10 recomend.
This gym has everything you could possibly imagine. The equipment is all new and the facility is extremely clean. Best gym in Pittsburgh
Amazing gym, for anyone , punching bags are great and also has a wrestling/bjj room , staff are friendly and nice, overall best gym I’ve ever been too
UFC GYM is a great gym with an amazing staff. I highly recommend taking the boxing conditioning classes with coach Rob Jackson. He’s very skillful with his coaching techniques. With having no boxing experience, coach Rob was there to help build my confidence up. The environment is very welcoming and you get a great workout while learning the fundamentals of boxing. If you’re trying to find a gym, UFC GYM is the way to go as well as taking coach Rob’s classes. I promise you, it’s worth it! LETS GO!!!!
First time here at UFC gym and I already love. Great staff to assist you with all of your needs.
This gym is turnt af. It’s really clean and surprisingly spacious. The boxing area is amazing too. They have a wide range of machines to use. It’s also surprisingly cheap for all they offer, much cheaper than their competitors who have even less than this. The only downside is that the music is shit but you get a pair of headphones and you’re cool.
Mark is very excellent he explained everything to me gave me options with no pressure into signing up he’s definitely great at what he does looking forward to coming here
Awesome gym, super clean and tons of equipment. Mark made sign-up super easy. Definitely recommend
UFC Gym Pittsburgh Market Square is fantastic! The facility is incredibly clean, with a wide variety of equipment to choose from, and plenty of space to work out comfortably. The recovery room is a great feature, offering an awesome way to wind down after training. The trainers are exceptional—knowledgeable and supportive—and the front desk staff is super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this gym!
The gym here has an excellent staff. Rob is an amazing Boxing coach that will have you looking like a pro. Ruby is small but mighty and will get you in the best shape of your life. Tom the MMA coach will have you feeling like a pro MMA fighter as well.UFC is definitely the best in Pittsburgh.
So, I was in the Army, and have been in gyms all over the world. This is the best gym I've ever been in. They have a ton of equipment, and it's not incredibly expensive.
Nice and spacious with great equipment. The staff is friendly and helpful. Rob Jackson is a personal favorite. Very personable and skilled at what he does.
Had a great session with rob jackson , didn’t have any boxing experience before but i I really enjoyed and understood the fundamentals of the sport!!
Started going to boxing classes with coach Rob Jackson and can’t say enough about how great of a teacher he is. Class is full of supportive and hard working people that are easy to talk to. Great gym space without having to wait too much for machines or free weights.
The recovery room!!! Holy cow! Hydro message, cryogenic therapy, red light… and many more features! Plus the gym is amazing… Ian will surely take great care of you!! (He did me) 🤩
I've been going to the UFC Gym for a while now, and I absolutely love it. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly, and I never feel judged while working out. The coaches are awesome and genuinely care about your progress. James, in particular, really pushes me to do my best and makes personal training so much fun. Tom, the MMA coach, is very skilled and patient, and I've learned a lot from him. My son also attends the gym, and Robert, the youth coach, has been fantastic. My son was struggling with confidence at school, but Robert has helped him come out of his shell. Now, my son walks with confidence and loves going to the gym to learn and train in MMA. Additionally, Pedro has been a great help with my son's wrestling, further enhancing his skills and enjoyment of the sport. Thank you, coaches, for doing an amazing job! Overall, the UFC Gym has been a wonderful experience for both of us, and I highly recommend it!
UFC GYM Pittsburgh has everything to help anyone become the best version of themselves! From top of the line weight machines to proffesional 1 on 1 sessions with the best coaches. My reccomendation is taking boxing classes with the best coach Rob Jackson II. He will help you with every hardship you face.
The UFC Gym is one of a kind. The staff goes above and beyond and I truly feel like I am getting so much more for my buck with the UFC gym. You can’t beat the price of the recovery comparatively to other places that offer the same experiences no less the gym. The prices have gone way down from when it first opened and it really is super affordable now for what is pretty much state of the art equipment. It’s really everything and more you could need in a gym.
Great gym! Huge and spacious with plenty of workout machines. I love to work out here and I enjoy the fitness classes!
Coach Ruby made my shoulder, neck, back, and knee feel the best they have felt in years! The staff are awesome, and the whole establishment is awesome! I tell everyone I see to go here.Thank you Coach Ruby! What you do is amazing!
Awesome gym, has a lot to offer for working out and recovery post workout. Very clean and well maintained. Friendly staff and a bunch of different machines for all your exercise needs.
Rubie is a true Gem!!!! Top notch trainer for any age, gender, and athletic ability! She put me through a tough session that was highly informative and useful. The recover session was also very helpful and allowed me to come back the next day refreshed and ready. Best trainer in downtown! I’ve coached grappling/wrestling for 20 years. I highly recommend her to upcoming athletes and anyone ready to take their life or sport to the next level.
Great gym and staff. In particular, Coach Rubie’s personalized approach, extensive knowledge, and motivating attitute has helped me achieve noticeable improvements in strength and overall wellness. She’s attentive to individual needs and always pushes me to reach my goals. If you're looking for a dedicated and effective trainer, Rubie is the one!
Switching from Etage to UFC Gym was a game-changer for me! I was in search of top-notch classes for cardio and strength training, and I hit the jackpot with Coach Ruby. She's fantastic! Going to UFC Gym a few times a week has now become an enjoyable routine for me, all thanks to the incredible team there! Highly recommend!
I recently had an incredible percussion therapy session with Rubie at the UFC gym in downtown, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Rubie's expertise in targeting trigger points was evident from the start, as they skillfully navigated through each muscle group, ensuring no stone was left unturned. The session not only helped me achieve a greater range of flexibility but also significantly expedited my recovery process. It's clear that Rubie possesses a deep understanding of the body and how to optimize its performance and healing. For anyone looking to enhance their physical well-being, Rubie's theragun session is a must. A solid 5 stars for an experience that has left me feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on my next challenge.
Coach Rubie just put me through an awesome percussion recovery session. She took her time and got me to go beyond my comfort zone. In just 45 minutes, I went from being 5 inches away from being able to touch my toes to grabbing and holding the position for 10 seconds. Definitely worth my time and Coach Rubie enlightened me with a lot of good advice for pre and post workout stretching / warm up, etc.
The Pittsburgh UFC gym is by far the nicest gym in the area. The training rooms are spotless and the machines are brand new and extremely clean. There are so many options for every style of training and it is all easily accessible. Any level of athlete can fit in here and feel like they’re working out at a prestige establishment.
When I took this class, I had no idea what to expect or any boxing experience whatsoever, Rob eases you in. He's super helpful and will work with you 1 on 1 while breaking down the fundmentals. You can't ask for anything better. Genuinely a good dude. I participated in the HIIT class with Rubi and she noticed how tight my muscles were. She provided this percussion therapy, which, right after the session, I was able to deep stretch and bend in places that I couldn't previous to the session. No b.s. I don't write reviews good or bad, but Rob Jackson and Rubi Moore are a cut above the rest and deserve to be recognized.
Pittsburgh UFC gym is a up to date outstanding facility but more importantly what shines the most is the staff . A team of caring and passionate professionals I attended a fitness class lead by coach Rubi and I must confess it was very enlightening. She motivated me to keep going when I wanted to quit , her sessions are strenuous but obtainable ,if you put the work in you will get the results that you desire physically, the mental fortitude she administer is what makes your accomplishments possible . I salute you Coach Rubi for being a powerful , positive, passionate professional and am definitely looking forward to attending your next session Sincerely Joe Bedard Thumps UP …. Pittsburgh UFC
I have been going to this gym for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. I initially joined just to be able to take the jiu jitsu classes but would honestly have joined just for the fitness center part of it. They have all new equipment and everything you could possibly need and best of all it's usually not too busy even in the evenings after work which you will not find at any other gym in the city. It is fairly expensive but you get what you pay for and if you are serious about health and fitness then it's well worth the investment. The only downside is that you have to go downtown, I wish it was located in any other part of the city.
This gym is really a wonderful place! best facility in the city. Rob Jackson is one of the best boxing coaches in the city,! he's helped me constantly and has great attention to detail and form. Very motivational person and knowledgeable.
This facility is amazing - the nicest, cleanest gym I’ve been in. I’m not an intense gym-goer, but have been doing personal training with Rubie for 6 months now- she is incredible! Awesome focus on holistic health, wellness and strength training. They have great group classes- I love the Zumba (for all fitness levels!) and DUT, which is their version of HIIT. I’m still adapting to strength training, so I really love that I can stop myself from getting super sore after workouts with the normatech, massage beds and infrared sauna in the recovery spa.
Rob Jackson is an amazing coach! I went to my first MMA class, and he talked me through the whole thing. He explained the moves in great detail and was so motivating! I felt very comfortable and encouraged to learn here!
This gym offers a variety of group classes and everyone is friendly and welcoming. I had personal training sessions with Rubie and highly recommend her! She tailors workouts to your needs, maintains great vibes, and includes a satisfying stretch at the end of each session.
UFC Gym is not your average gym. From the moment you step through the doors, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of energy and intensity that's sure to motivate you to push your limits. The facilities are top-notch, with state-of-the-art equipment and plenty of space to work out. But what really sets UFC Gym apart is its staff and instructors. They're passionate about fitness and genuinely care about helping you achieve your goals. Whether you're looking to lose weight, gain muscle, or just get in better shape, UFC Gym is the place for you. The supportive community, challenging workouts, and expert instruction will help you reach your goals and achieve a level of fitness you never thought possible.
Both the gym and the staff are great! I’m only in Pittsburgh temporarily so finding a good place to workout with a fair price was my priority. The gym is very clean and has great equipment. Manny was very welcoming and gave me a great deal since I will only use the gym for a few weeks. Highly recommend to anyone in the Pittsburgh area
Rob Jackson HIGHLY RECOMMEND for your boxing coach . He has great sense of direction and his energy is so bright and positive ! If you want you achieve your boxing skills sign up today & ask for ROB JACKSON !
I love all the spaces included in the membership and the community is welcoming and not overbearing. I was convinced to try personal training session with Rubie and had a fun time. Rubie really cares about her clients and does her best to foster a relationship of honesty, discipline, and confidence.
I have to edit this just for the fact that there is no backup for the parking garage being full. Wasted an hour each way. My personal favorite part is the recovery area! Cryo, SaunaPod, & Normatec are musts after a weekend of wrestling!!!
I Recently Got A Membership Here About A Week Ago. I Gave It 3 Stars Simply Because I Scheduled With The Trainer Alex G. At 3pm Last Tuesday & He Cancelled On Me Because Of An Emergency (Understandable), We Then Agreed To Meet At 3pm The Following Day (Wednesday) In Which He Was A No Show. I Waited About 45min For Him To Show Up And Eventually Said Forget It. I Talked With I Believe One Of The Managers And He Said That Alex Told Him That He Didn’t See That He Had An Appointment On His Calendar Wednesday Because The Systems Were Messing up That Day. I Politely Said That He Knew About The Training Scheduled Because We Texted About Meeting Today. So Alex Played Me On My Training And Lied To His Coworkers…. This Wasn’t The Start I Was Hoping To Have With This Gym.
Nice gym with good equipment. However, very shady workers. Ian gave me a tour and signed me up for my membership and I made it clear I only wanted to pay $20/mo for my membership. He said recovery (massage beds etc.) is free your first month (first lie), and said to come to him to upgrade if I wanted to use recovery after my first month is up. After checking my account & seeing a random $60 charge on my bank statement I called them up, just for Ian to say he made it clear that the $60 was a recurring charge, IN ADDITION to the $20 I was already paying. Who on earth is trying to pay $80/mo when I made it clear I wanted the most basic membership at sign up? He told me initially that my sign up charges included the $60 annual fee (second lie). It doesn’t, and I will be billed March 12th. This means TWO total charges of $60 that I didn’t authorize. All Ian could say on the phone is “I have your signature here stating you agreed to it”. Well when you lie to me about what the $60 is for, that kinda happens. What throws me is during the tour he was talking about how Pittsburghers don’t want to pay $60/mo for a membership so they reduced the price to $20. I agreed that $60 is too much, and during the sign up I made it VERY clear I wanted to only pay $20. How he truly thinks he thoroughly explained that I’d be billed $80/mo when he signed me up is beyond me. And I dare say he needs a mental evaluation. That did not happen. He was also very dismissive when talking to me. He was invalidating everything I said and not trying to come up with a solution. Having been in sales for 3 years, I have to say he has LOTS to learn. Memberships at a gym are the lowest of the low in terms of skill in sales, and you can’t even do that? Needless to say, I canceled my membership today, and Ian seemed to not be interested in the reason why I was canceling because this probably happens to him all the time. Sometimes you just know that you are the problem so there’s no need to ask. Update: The GM Cody has reached out offering 2 free months of membership for my troubles.
I can goto crunch fitness for the same price and get the full gym experience why would I pay 25 for one third of the gym? Then they want extra fees on top for guest and sauna and sun bathing and classes totaling up to like 150 why would I do this when I can get all that for 25 at crunch I did a trial here and most of the equipment was warn out, bathrooms where nasty and they close at 6pm Friday Saturday and Sunday the main time and days I do goto the gym All jokes aside if the base gym fee was like 10 a month ids kinda rate it higher then 2 but it just seems like you offer less then other gyms for the price you want
The gym is big and has enough equipment for me, but they should ban certain people who should probably go back to elementary school and learn common sense and the basic manners instead of coming to the gym.
Gym itself is fine idc. But I went 3 times and payed 30 dollars, which like, again, I don’t care that’s fine. The only problem I DO have is that when I wanted to cancel it I couldn’t do it on the app they made me get, so I thought I’d pay manually and it wouldnt take money out whenever it wanted. But lo and behold here I am off the phone with them and now I can’t get 25 dollars back. I asked to get a refund because I’m not going back and there’s no option to cancel, and now I’m down 25 dollars. If you want to cancel a membership you either have to send in a letter or go in and sign something? As someone who is new to gyms and has problems with motivation in the first place, this wasn’t a good experience.AT ALL
This is regarding the gym at the Waterfront/Homestead location. Hello, I was going to this gym for awhile and just paying with cash to see, if I would be interested in attending here as a member. Glad I didn’t sign up because everytime there are two classes going on, I cannot access the equipment I need like a mat or a foam roller, as another poster said, this is an ongoing problem here when there are two classes going on at once. I cant imagine what it will be like in January when more people will be there and this gym is so small compared to most gyms in the area. It is wrong to have two classes going on at once when it is a very tiny and small gym.
DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM This gym is absolutely terrible. I went to this gym in august of 2024 and I wasn’t sure if i wanted to buy the membership, but was convinced by an employee to just pay for a month and he would cancel it immediately after the purchase. It is now December and they have been charging me since. This gym is a scam.
UPDATE: due to poor management, Rob’s helpful classes are no longer offered here. This is immensely disappointing for the community of his students. Rob’s boxing technique class is awesome! I am a complete amateur at boxing- Rob Jackson is a talented coach who takes the time to work with each person to give specific feedback. I am already feeling more confident and look forward to growing more! The facility is spacious and clean with every piece of equipment I could think of.
It’s disheartening to see that the YMCA was turned into a UFC gym for nothing. This place is dirty. The girls bathroom was highly unkept the entirety of my membership & this place never seems to have sanitized wipes for equipment, soap and paper towels for the restrooms, or clean facilities all around. They make a decent penny at this location so it’s surprising to see they can’t consistently afford necessities of a public gym. The only service that made this gym worth the money were the boxing classes lead by Coach Rob Jackson. Unfortunately , management fails to protect the safety of both employees and gym members. There have been multiple incidents followed by complaints of gym members being violent towards staff and other members. Yet nothing was done to resolve the issues and has ultimately lead me to cancel my membership for my own safety. The list could go on, but to conclude you’re better off going to a planet fitness or supporting local boxing/ufc coaches/gyms rather than this dump.
I cannot stress enough when I say this; the boxing classes taught by coach Rob Jackson are the absolute best classes in this fine establishment. Each time you take a class, he takes great care and pride to make sure that not only you can throw a punch, but that you know how to throw a punch correctly. The MMA classes in this gym are superb, but if you want to get your hard earned money's worth, then Coach Jackson's boxing classes are definitely worth a look. EDIT (09/26/2024): I was made aware that this gym has fired coach Rob Jackson. Let me stress this for everyone to see. Without Coach, this gym is a bunch of guys LARPing as tough guys. The bathrooms are a mess, no body wash, dirty as all hell, the showers are covered in mildew, and the only coach that actually knew what he was doing was fired for disingenuous reasons. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE COVID.
Cancelling at this gym is an absolute nightmare. My teen son canceled back in May, and was told he would need to pay June’s fees and then cancellation would happen. After everything was paid up he called the gym and make sure the cancellation was complete and was told it was. In July they took another payment out. After multiple calls and their staff saying they couldn’t see a cancellation on file and always saying the manager was out, we showed up in person and was assured by Ian that the cancellation was on file and that he would make sure we weren’t charged again. Lo and behold, August they tried to take another payment. More calls telling him that the manager is out and they can’t do anything. At that point we had to go through our bank to stop the payment attempts. Now it is September and he’s being threatened with getting sent to collections. He FINALLY was able to talk to a manager today who said he couldn’t do anything and gave him an email address to try. If that’s the only way to cancel, I’m not sure why we were given the email months ago or why we were told multiple times to talk to the manager who apparently has no ability to cancel memberships. Or why the cancellation that was on file back in May magically disappeared.
Bathrooms are disgusting and regularly run out of soap or paper towels. The water fountains have brown stains around them and their water tastes funny (unreplaced filters probably, keep in mind the water in Pittsburgh is as bad as Flint, Michigan). The weightlifting plates at the racks are cheap and basic and go 10lbs, 25lbs, 35lbs, and 45lbs, so no 25 kilo plates or 2.5 kilo plates. Staff is friendly tho.
Absolutely not satisfied with the service at the gym, the employees lied to me twice, first I registered at the gym because I would only be an intern in Pittsburgh for the summer and they said they would not charge the annual fee for being an intern, the second time they lied to me is When I canceled they told me that there would be no problem and that they would not charge me but they found out that the next day they charged me the annual fee and the next day they charged me for a new month even though my membership was already cancelled, I have been calling for the last two weeks and The workers keep playing with me and tell me it's something about the financial, they gave me an email to make my money refund and it turns out that they never responded to me and that the email doesn't exist. Don't go to this gym. Very bad experience and I feel like they stole 85 dollars from me.
Do not sign up to use this gym they’re either incompetent or thieves my wife and myself have tried to cancel our membership since January of this year have gone in person several times to cancel our memberships. The company continues to charge us month after month, giving us inadequate excuses on why our cards are still being charged we have had to resort to canceling the card used for the membership of. this is part of their business model their thieves. ( I have directly been in contact with Cody the manger by email and in person the issue have never been resolved, there are several Reddit threads with many people have the same problem with UFC )
Cheaters ! This place is a rip off. Their staff will PRESSURE you on last day of trial to sign up for $19 membership and then keep putting random charges to your account every month. in the last 2 months they have charged me $260 overall. When you ask their manager or staff, they will try to sound so innocent like oh.. that is for recovery that you never signed up for, oh.. that is advance cancellation period fee.. (really ?) oh thats yearly enhancement fee that we charge randomly anytime to anyone we like especially to new members.. I mean its really an organized way to rip off theirs clients by their entire team from the very start. No wonder they will lose clients and run a mostly empty gym and eventually shut. I will quit this gym as it is run by a very desperate sales staff who dont leave any chance to misinform and cheat.
The bad review comes from the fact that they charge you for recovery fees (60$) when you sign up as a free service and then after following up multiple times with the management and explicitly mentioning you don’t want that service from the following month, you still see a charge of 60$ on your account. Really poor customer service experience. The gym is nice, but requesting a refund and stopping recovery fee has been a nightmare. I had to follow up every few days but I got a response that the manager isn’t in or isn’t available now. I won’t recommend signing up. Go to union fitness or rivers club instead
