When I was in Pittsburgh for work last fall, I was fortunate enough to spend a week training with the fine folks at Stout Training at their Strip District location. They have loads of classes suited for every level of BJJ skill. The skill level of the people at the gym is high and still very welcoming. I will definitely come back whenever I'm in town next. My huge thanks to Sage and Logan for their incredible welcome and for creating such a vibrant community of practitioners. I would recommend the gym to anyone looking to learn or further their knowledge of the sport. 10/10
Posted 2 months agoI am a brown belt and dropped in while in town for an open mat. They were super welcoming and didn’t even make me pay a drop in fee. I got an hour and a half of great rolls. Really good atmosphere and technical grapplers. Definitely would recommend.
Posted 2 months agoAn excellent gym. I’m here 2-3 times a week for the workout, for proper technique, and an environment that is full of hard workers who respect others and the craft. All of these values are fostered here. I’m growing. I’m meeting really nice people and exchanging numbers. All of my back trouble has gone away now that I am in full-body shape. I’m learning rock solid fundamentals in Muay Thai and having a great time. This is worth every penny and drop of sweat I have put into it. It’s turned my life around. Next up: more noon classes!! :). Love this gym.
Posted 4 months agoAmazing place. The atmosphere is extremely friendly and welcoming. The coaches are very attentive and give critique where needed. The upper belts (more experienced people) are also a very good reflection of the mindset of Stout considering they also take their time to help new and current students. I would confidently and strongly recommend this place to anyone; regardless of skill level, age, athleticism, etc.
Posted 5 months agoI travel, and I’ve been in a few gyms, and there is something happening at Stout. I’ve seen pro fighters, but I’ve never seen 2-3 fighters making their pro debut month-after-month and athlete after athlete putting up 4-0, 5-0, and 6-0 records. The training here is on another level, and even the beginner techniques classes will put you through it. I am grateful for the experience here, and I cannot recommend this place enough for any age and any level of athlete.
