Bakersfield Brazilian Jiu Jitsu [BBJJ] is a training center that offers World class instruction to men, women, and children. BBJJ is responsible for the creation of the TRUJITSU gameplan, now being utilized by jiu jitsu practioners world wide.
My husband originally looked into places for our at the time 7-year-old son to train. He had shown an interest in competing. We wanted to give him the best chance to grow. My husband and I also train, but our priority has always been our son. We can see a tremendous difference in his overall health and his character. The kids classes are inspiring. Their coaches care. The head instructors have put so much thought into the way they teach that it is obtainable for most of the kids to find success when they put in the effort. It’s more than just an activity to say your child is doing something, these kids are learning real-life self-defense. I’m glad not only did we find the best quality training for our son, but for ourselves too. Professor Matt and Jill (really all the Bakers) have done an amazing job making the gym welcoming, safe and highly technical.
Posted 1 week agoThe best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is now. We, as in my Family and I, met with Matt Baker and got to try out his School. We gave it a shot and haven't looked back. It is most definitely a great indicator of your potential and how well you can manage in high stress situations. The Staff is great, the Atmosphere is very positive and the Respect for one another is Refreshing. We plan on sticking around for a few decades. Update 3/22/25 about 4 years later - We still call this our second Home. This experience is life-changing for each of us. We appreciate the whole Trujitsu Family.
Posted 3 months agoMy step-daughter has been going here on/off for the past couple years in which she loves it! She has learned so much and has made some friends along the way. I am always soooo impressed at how there are so many kids and the professor/coaches are able to keep these kids in line and interested. There’s never chaos. That speaks volumes. I can tell these kids are soaking it all up too. I especially love the real and raw speeches towards the end from the professor. So relatable and just what this world needs!! Definitely recommend!
Posted 2 months agoI walked into this gym in 2016 and immediately felt welcomed by not only the instructors but the students aswell. So much so that I never left. Fast forward to today, and I still couldn't tell you what the inside of another local jiu jitsu gym looks like. The head professors Matt and Jill are very knowledgeable in the sport, and have built a solid team.
Posted 1 week agoMy daughters been going here for almost a month. We love coach Matt. He’s a great teacher, knowledgeable, and very patient with all the children. The environment is very family friendly. Both locations are always clean, welcoming and ready for classes. Matt’s very informative and responsive to any and all questions both before even starting and at every class.
