I recently joined T7JJ after seeing their sign while jogging. I spoke with Professor Pollino as he was preparing for his kids' class, and he invited me to come back that night for kickboxing and his adult bjj class. From day one, I felt welcomed and challenged, eager to learn more. After just 7 sessions, my grappling confidence has grown 10 to 15 times compared to when I first jogged by the studio, and I’ve barely scratched the surface. What stands out most is the strong local community. It’s like finding a group of people to play basketball with after work—you look forward to it. It's serious fun. Professor Pollino’s deep technical knowledge of BJJ, combined with his ability to break it down in simple terms & real life scenarios, has been top tier. I can’t believe how much I’ve learned under his guidance in such a short time, and I've barely scratched the surface. As for the coaches—Coach Mike, Coach Charlie, Coach Brian, and Coach Jeff—they deserve more than 5 stars. They’re highly knowledgeable and know exactly when to push you and when to let you process. After training with them, I'm starting to learn their different techniques and styles. Their diverse perspectives and skill sets have been key to my fast progress. Overall, T7JJ is more than 5 stars. Triple seven jujitsu is awesome! My wife has been doing kickboxing classes here for 2 months now and she always has a great time. Recently, our oldest daughter (8) started jujitsu classes. The instructors are very patient, upbeat and professional. Matthew, the owner, puts his heart and soul into his business and it shows. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone. I started Kickboxing training with Coach Mike. He is very professional in his training and it is obvious he really enjoys what he does. My first couple of days I learned my basic punches and kicks. I also learned many punching and kicking combinations. The owner Coach Matthew is very knowledgeable and is very patient in his teaching but also very welcoming on new trainees. I believe Coach Matthew and Coach Mike really want to help provide the proper techniques kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu. The facility is very clean and has a great vibe. The other participants are very helpful on my learning journey. I recommend Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu for intense workouts to get anyone to be healthy and in great shape!

Matt is extremely knowledgeable, the facility is clean, they just got new punching bags installed, this just makes the place that much better. the atmosphere is welcoming for all skill levels. We tried 2 other youth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies before miraculously finding Professor Matthew and 777. I’m so happy we didn’t settle. He is a powerful teacher with his youth. Great program for all kids. You can find similar programs, but what separates Triple Seven is Mathew’s passion which comes through in how he teaches his students. We found a jiu-jitsu academy that feels like family. The instructor Matthew is amazing with the kids and is very hands on and knows what he's doing. My son struggles with adhd but the instructor keeps him interested and attentive. This place is great and I'm glad I found them.
We live close by and my son has been begging to check out their classes. My little family all went together and from that day we have been hooked. My son started shortly after and he absolutely loves Instructor Matthew and the other kids. He feels so comfortable learning and learning with the other kids. Triple 7 allows my son to have another home and I could not be more happy with the experience he’s having there. The facility is very clean and welcoming. There are many events to be apart of to get to know other parents and members. It has been fun for me as well, watching my son get a great hands-on experience. Just started training with Mike and getting back into kickboxing! He’s very thorough and knows what he’s doing! Takes time to work on specific plans for each client and incorporates anything needed, depending on your personal goals. As well, he is very enthusiastic about what he does and always in good spirits.
Signed my grandson up for lessons, Professor Matt is so awesome teaching these kids. My grandson absolutely loves the workouts. I already see the improvement with his with his energy levels, and his focusing! Reasonable prices as well, no high pressure sales from Professor Matthew! He explains everything right up front. Professor Matthew Pollino has taught my soon-to-be 16YO life lessons as well as Jujitsu. Professor Matthew now leads an incredible team at Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu. However, we knew him a decade ago when he was at a previous martial arts establishment my son attended. At that establishment, Professor Matthew was personally responsible for moving the youth jujitsu program forward in a positive direction. My son was just 6YO when he first met Professor Matthew. At that time, the first establishment was in a state of flux/going through changes. Once Professor Matthew came on board, he took charge and changes were made that propelled the program in a positive direction. Matthew was able to make changes that impacted the overall quality of the training. Matthew took charge of a "Lord of the Flies" gang of youngsters and transformed them into a more disciplined squad. Matthew isn't militant, he just seems able to combine the right amount of seriousness with play. He isn't hard nor is he soft; he is able to switch between "The Master" and a sensitive caring coach with ease whenever the situation or child calls for it. He also does a great job of integrating new kids and making them feel like they belong. I am extremely glad that Professor Matthew opened Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu where he can be in complete charge of everything. I HIGHLY recommend Professor Matthew. His training is perfect for kids wanting to undergo bully defense training or those just wanting to get in shape.
Updated review: I began training Jiu Jitsu because of an ongoing self defense situation. I'm 10 months into training and I've undergone a massive transformation. When I started I was in good shape, now I'm in great shape. Learning Jiu Jitsu is one of the best things to happen to me. Professor Matthew is a great teacher, the kick boxing classes lead by coach Mike are great. The vibe here is welcoming and friendly. Whether you're looking to learn the art for self defense or sport, training here is a good decision. We often have seminars and special guest trainings from different martial arts like Judo, Wrestling, amd MMA which only adds to our knowledge and arsenal of martial skills.

Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu is my second academy experience in Ventura, and I can say that out of the two it is definitely my favorite. From day one Matthew, along with everyone in his academy, has made me feel comfortable and welcome. Matthew has created a superb learning environment and the content is explained well in detail. During class Professor Matthew takes the time to thoroughly answer any questions from students and leaves plenty of time for rolling afterwards. Rolling with all of the other students is great here, because of the tone that’s repeatedly set before we start. Communication during rolls is encouraged and yeah… it’s excellent. Also, Coach Mike enthusiastically instructs Kick-Boxing classes which are great for learning new combos, techniques or getting in some cardio. Don’t hesitate… come check out this academy.
Matthew is a great instructor, my kids went in knowing nothing about jiu jitsu but one month in and they’ve learned so many new skills. Not only have they learned new skills but also discipline & have had lots of fun! Definitely recommend!
One of the only good places here in Ventura other than home. Professor Matt is great with the kids and the parents, and has created an amazing environment for everyone. The morning and night adult classes are just as great, It’s a family and everyone helps everyone. ( I still owe you 5 bucks Matt.)

Prof. Matthew is an exceptional instructor who is able to break down the technique and explain it to you in very simple terms to follow. Prof.Matthew is not only an exceptional instructor but a great person he was there when I needed someone to talk to. I was at a point where I was struggling and he was there to give me some words of wisdom and “keep training” were the words I remember and will always remember. Those words helped through my struggles. Prof. Matthew is someone I admire and respect. If you want to be a great jiujitsu practitioner and a great person come learn from the best.

Been going to the triple 7 for several months now. And it is definitely a worthwhile experience. I take Kickboxing classes with Coach Mike, who definitely will put you through your paces if you let him. In the same token Mike encourages you to take it at your own pace, it's a process meant for your benefit.
My very active seven year-old daughter joined Triple Seven almost eight months ago. Not only does she love going to class, it has helped her tremendously with her self-control, focus, and listening skills, which has translated to her doing better at school and in social situations. Professor Matthew Pollino has a great way with the kids. He is firm, kind, and funny and truly cares about his students. The kids love and respect him and there is a strong sense of teamwork and camaraderie within the walls of this academy. I highly recommend this program for kids. It strengthens their bodies and minds and builds their confidence. The skills they learn will prepare them for many situations in life, including being able to defend themselves if needed. It also is very reasonably priced when you consider classes are available six days a week. I am so glad we found Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu. It is truly special.

Coach Matthew has the qualities you want from a coach. He is very patient with the kids but holds expectations for each of them. He takes his time to make sure kids’ skills are improving. My son has been to a couple other places but at Triple 7 I have seen the most improvement in his skills and I’ve also witnessed him gain more confidence in himself. 100% recommend Triple 7 Jiu Jitsu!

I trained at Triple Seven for a month in March 2023 when I was in Ventura visiting family. This is a great place to train with lots of class times that would suit anyone. Matthew has created a gym with a very welcoming, friendly environment. I've trained at several clubs in USA and Australia and I was impressed.
Great family atmosphere, our kids have loved it from day one. The small class sizes and focus on technique make every lesson like a private, and the skills progression shows. Professor Matthew is amazing, and his balance of discipline, fun and instruction make classes approachable even for shy kids, but allow for development of serious BJJ skills in all students.

My son started here about a year ago. Professor Matthew has it dialed in! Obviously, he knows his stuff with Jiu Jitsu, but he's got a great way of teaching kids and keeping order with all the "Mat Monsters" doing what kids will do. My son has learned so much and continues to progress - he loves it! Great sport to learn discipline, have a regular group to train with, and get all that energy out before dinner.

I love this place!!! I've been looking for a solid place to get back to my athletic self. The instructors are great, clean facility, quality equipment, and safe area. The energy of the place is great! Very welcoming and supportive by the staff and others there. We weren't sure about joining, as other places were intimidating. So we sat and watched a class to get a feel for the place. No matter your skill set or fitness level, all were supportive and encouraging of each other. I love that!!! ❤️ No ego, just support and a great time. 👍 My teenage son is top athlete in cross-country and track, and this is the first time I saw him smiling while engaged in sport - learning how to properly kick and punch. Getting real-time correction and encouragement from both the instructor and sparing partner. Great people here, the environment and culture of commodery this location is what sold me. I'm a bit over weight and out of shape, but felt like I belong. Can't wait for this place to help me on my fitness/athletic journey. Highly recommend this location. My kids experienced an introduction to martial arts in a positive and encouraging environment. I enjoyed watching the interactions between the kids and instructors and watching their progress.
It was a nice introduction to Jiu Jitsu for my 6 year old son. Great physical activity, the instructors do a good job of guiding the group of kids to learn the moves and practice safely.
Professor Matthew is very knowledgeable and patient in teaching. The academy is clean, safe, and everyone there is a great training partner. Highly recommend for anyone looking to train or learn self defense.

Great owner, great people, awesome instruction and overall an amazing experience for anyone wanting to get into BJJ. The classes are great with awesome instruction and everyone is more than happy to help you. No big egos or anyone trying to just rip your arm off. The kickboxing and tacfit is also awesome that it's all under one roof. Definitely can't recommend them enough.

The owner of this place is my old coach so when I found out he opened a new gym I said why not, and I am very impressed with what he built here. If you ask me, the kickboxing alone is worth the membership. So if you are in the market I highly recommend Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu for all your martial arts needs.
This is a quality gym with quality people attending and running the place. Matthew, the owner, has been a martial artist since he was a kid and it shows. He is attentive, kind and knowledgeable about martial arts. The facility is clean and well maintained. I highly recommend Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu.
My 7 year old grandson just started and he enjoys the classes. The owner really cares about all his students. I like seeing students learning discipline, respect and understanding how to protect themselves. I hope to see more women joining. I recommend this studio for all ages.

I’ve been training at Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu for over two months. I’m here almost everyday because I love the training and environment. They also have Tacfit sessions (Tactical Fitness) on Mondays and Wednesdays which involves strength training, flexibility and mobility drills which has helped me in my Jiu Jitsu training.
If you’re looking for a place that’s willing to help your child or yourself grow with strength, endurance, respect, education and is safe this is the perfect fit! My son has been going here for about 6 months, he has gained so much confidence, not only physically but to see him emotionally be confident and respectful is fantastic! They have available classes 7 days a week and are always willing to work with any level of jujitsu, or work with you to create structure in a welcoming environment!
My 13 year old son started Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu when it first opened and it has helped him in many ways; self esteem, making new school age friends, having positive mentorship, and as he tells me “getting me physically into shape” that makes him feel good about himself. He has also adopted more healthier eating habits and has become cognizant of the overall idea of being healthier in many ways, taught there. His self esteem is much more positive and feels more confident and bullying at school does not get to him like it used too. He is now a straight A student and does a great job balancing all his home and school responsibilities. The discipline and the discussions he has at Triple Seven Jiu Jitsu has become an important way he is able to center himself daily. As a Dad the best thing ever!
Triple 7 was great! Bunch of cool people that will make you feel welcome. I was fortunate to learn a bit here on the mats and I appreciate Matthew for spending the time with me that he did. He coaches with detail and I learned A LOT. He will help you progress. Shoutout to Josh for helping out and always offering me coaching as well. Thank you all. I am grateful that I was able to learn what I did with/from you guys. Glad to see the gym doing well and hope to see it grow even further.
