The martial arts center is everything you could ever want in a martial arts studio! Everyone is so welcoming and kind. The culture is fantastic, the practitioners are always cheering each other on, there’s healthy competition, and everyone steps in to help each other out. It doesn’t matter if they are staff, students, parents they are always encouraging! Whether you want a fun healthy way to get fit, learn self defense, or simply learn martial arts it’s a great place to grow! I have loved my time here!
Amazing experience !! My son has grown so much over this year thanks to all the instructors!!
The Martial Arts Center has been an amazing experience from day one. The kindness, patience and constant encouragement shown is why we keep coming back. Thank you for all you do!!
My daughter has been apart of the Martial Arts center since December and she loves it! They do such an amazing job to help the kids with confidence, respect, discipline, and to become great leaders. They really do care about the growth of the kids.
My daughter has been going to MAC for 3 years now and we absolutely love it there! They are all so welcoming and so understanding. Joining the Mac has been so great for my family. My daughter has learned so much there and has high hopes in becoming a Jokyo one day in the future.
We love The Martial Arts Center! The culture is encouraging and respectful. My boys are learning not only self defense but also respect and discipline. Physical activities and finding friends is definitely a win! We are a proud family of The Martial Arts Center. Many thanks to all you do🙏

We love going to karate at the Martial Arts Center! Great staff!!!
This is a great place to bring your kids if you're looking for an extracurricular that holds them to a higher standard inside and outside of martial arts.
My 6 year old daughter loves her martial arts class! Awesome instructors!
The classes are so much fun for the kids and the parents.
We love the martial arts center it has been a lot of fun for our kid and gives him a great outlet for his energy
Having the time of my life. The kids are so much fun to watch. The teachers and staff are amazing. A great experience.
MAC is a great opportunity for children! If you have an active child, or a child that you would like to participate and engage with other students to build on their learning and social skills This is the place!
I have a grandson that is in a world of his own. And likes to wonder a bit and when I watch the instructors on the side, they are always redirecting him and helping him focus on what the are teaching. I appreciate the time they spend with him. I can see it makes a difference. Thank you very much. Proud Papa!
I really love it it helps my son with his anger
This school has been a great confidence booster to my 9 year old daughter. Physically & mentally I notice a major improvement. She loves attending class and looks forward to achieving her black belt
My daughter has been going for a year and she just fell in love with it. Since taking classes she’s progressed in school, working on managing her adhd with the discipline she’s been learning, it’s overall been great for her in every way possible. And the staff as well as students have become like family.
This karate center is great for all ages. It is a positive atmosphere free from judgement . The instructors are motivating and encouraging and this really helps with self esteem. So if you are looking for something other than a boring gym for exercise try them out. It works on you body mind and soul.
This place is amazing! My son has been going to their after school program (which he also loves) and recently signed up for their martial arts classes. He absolutely loves it there, and the staff is so nice and welcoming. This really is such a great program and highly recommended 😁
We love the Martial Arts Center. Our girls have been going for just about a year now and don't want to stop! It is much more than just Martial Arts, they reinforce discipline, respect, and good behavior!
"Great place to have your kids they learn discipline and have fun too. My boys and I love it. The staff is awesome and friendly. Great place and great experiences.

Our daughter has been going to The Martial Arts Center for a year and we absolutely love it! The staff is amazing! Along with teaching the art of Tang So Do, they also instill the life skills such as discipline, respect, self esteem and honesty that is so important both in and out if the Do Jang.
This program has been great for my son. The instructors are great and give each and every child their utmost attention. We are really happy with their training of not only martial arts, but the life values they teach. Thank you MAC.
Wow my grandson is learning so much I like it very much 5 star
I would give more stars if there were more than 5 to give! The MAC is an amazing place! It's been over 4yrs and this place is like a 2nd home to us. The Staff here genuinely care about the students. They dont just teach Martial Arts, they are teaching life skills. I see multiple life skills they taught my daughter in her every day life outside of The MAC. I am so thankful for the Owner Renee Williams for all she has done & continues to do for all of us at The MAC and the community. Renee is always giving back to the community and teaches the students about giving back & lending a helping hand when you can. Such a positive & uplifting atmosphere. I have so many great experiences to tell about The MAC, I could write a book!
My now 8 yr old boy and 9 yr old girl, have coming here for 2 years and 2 months now. They both have become more confident, more aware, and are both doing better in school! My son also has ADHD and Anxiety. This has helped with both of those as well. They are both in the advanced class and the leadership program they offer. I always have nothing but good things to say when I am asked about this school. If you are wondering if it is a good fit for you and your child or if you are an adult and want to start then come on in! They offer an exploration class free of charge to see if it's for you.
What a wonderful place! Integrity, honor, discipline, respect, and you learn self defense! Authentic, caring, reputable coaches who lead the classes of many ages to a better life through consistent growth by challenging not only their bodies, but their minds and their character. What a wonderful addition to my family's life! Tang Soo!
The martial arts center is amazing! Our children love it and it has taught them multiple life skills. I am thrilled that they are growing mentally, emotionally, and physically. Their public speaking and leadership skills have improved significantly as well. I highly recommend the martial arts center!
The Martial Arts Center is a great place for kids to come out of their shell and become more confident. 2 years now and the growth continues. Amazing instructors that actually care. Great family enviroment.
The MAC is a great opportunity for our boys to learn about making & keeping their goals, maintaining strength and accountability. My boys look forward to karate classes and all the coaches every week. The coaches at MAC are so supportive and motivating with all members to learn and crush goals! My boys cannot wait to get their next belt already !
The MAC has been a huge inspiration to me and my life skills since before I joined the Martial Arts Center. Before I joined the MAC I had absolutely zero confidence. Now becoming an instructor and being able to teach in front of a class is seriously crazy to be and I’m glad I’m able to help and give other students confidence it is a huge chance in just a couple a couple years and I’m so grateful to have the MAC as a place I can go after school to become the best version of myself 👍 -Spicer JK
Our girl has been attending the Martial Arts Center for about ten months now. The MAC Family has helped teach her about leadership, accountability, self esteem, and so much more. It is our pleasure and honor to be a part of this amazing group.
The Martial Arts center has been a home away from home for my kids! We recently moved from Indiana, and as a parent you always wonder if and when your kids will find a new group of friends. They have done that and more at the Martial Arts Center! It's hard to find respectful teens these days and we have done just that! Thank you MAC!
My son has struggled with high energy at school causing him to get into trouble. We tried the Martial Arts Center as an outlet for his extra energy and I couldn't be more proud of the progress he has made! Highly recommend if your looking for a fun and positive place for you or your kids to grow into there best selves.
Absolutely an awesome place and great people
Such a great place for kids and adults to learn respect and self worth. The team at MAC invests so much time and effort into these kids to build them up into strong and confident adults.
My son and I have been at the MAC for a little over a year now. I cannot begin to express how much i love this place and how much it has done for him. Not only is he learning karate, but they focus as much if not more on life skills and being a good person, as they do on the kicks and punches. So glad we found this place.
They are absolutely great. My son loves to attend after school.
Great team members
The Martial Arts Center has been so amazing for my son. Since he started there almost a year and a half ago (at age 3.5) He has found his voice, his confidence has grown, and he really applies the lessons he’s been taught (respect, discipline, self-esteem, communication, etc…) the best way a 5 year old can. When he is struggling at home or on the mat, I know I can talk to any one of his instructors and they will work with him. Recently he was having some issues with self control, I spoke to Hairon Gil about it and he gave my son a goal to work towards and some extra motivation and it meant so so much to him (and me). He was so excited today to tell Mr. Gil that he met his goal! At one point today, my son was tired and ready to quit, Gil Kyo Sa Nim (hope I spelled that right 😂) pushed him to keep going and not give up and sure enough… my sweet boy didn’t quit. At dinner tonight, one of My son’s “highs” for the day was helping lead his karate class some today ❤️ I am so thankful for the relationship he has developed with Mr. Gil and Ms. Jaylen Lewis. We had considered finding a new place because He wanted to try another activity as well and cost wise, it just didn’t make sense, but he didn’t want to leave the MAC and honestly, these types of relationships are priceless. I’m so glad he has such good role models in his life ❤️❤️ 🥋
As a lifelong martial artist Who's had the opportunity to train all over the country I've become very adept at spotting thing excellent schools. 1st and foremost, I look for age appropriate instruction, also I want my kids to train in a clean environment. finally, I want them to be around instructors who truly care. From the moment you check out their website to when you finally walk in the door you'll you know you've made the correct choice at MAC.
My 5 year old son has been a student for just shy of a year. I have always heard good things about this center. What I did not know was that we would gain a family! My son has made great friends, which has in turn made me some great friends. The staff is like family, the passion they have for helping the kids become their very best is amazing. They truly are the best!
Love practicing Tang Soo Do at the Martial Arts Center teaches great self defense and life lessons and I’m in the best health that I have ever been in :)! Definitely recommend them! Been going for about a year now helps build strength and confidence and self discipline for all ages!
The most positive motivational center for kids and adults you could ask for. Gilbert and the rest of the staff care so much for this place and all the kids. Our son is 5 and is doing so well. We are headed into our third cycle and can’t wait. Thx for everything MAC #MartialArtsCenter #Ocala
We went for our first class today and it was a great experience. My son is usually very shy but he felt very comfortable and was engaging almost instantly. Everyone was very nice and took the time to discuss and explain everything. We are looking forward to many more classes!
We're so incredibly pleased with The Martial Arts Center and their program! Our son would go seven days a week if he were able to! He's always so enthusiastic about learning his forms and progressing his skills, as well as meeting up with his friends (kids and staff alike). We love the comprehensive program that not only teaches the technical side of karate, but also the life skills and character-building concepts like integrity, respect, self-control, and honesty. It's always a joy to watch when Kyo Sa Nim pulls the kids aside to teach a relevant lesson about something that occurs in class. The aspect that we're most impressed with, however, is the staff. The instructors are simply incredible. I've never seen a group of people who are more talented, kind, warm, charismatic, and suited for teaching who are all congregated in one building. Each one of them spends personal time with our son, working with and encouraging him in the kindest way possible, and it always makes me smile. That kind of interaction is not something you can pay for, and it's wonderful. We love The Martial Arts Center and would highly recommend it to anyone!
My experience with this place is really positive. My son is learning to defend himself and help others excel. Good moral teachings about life.
The MAC has been such an incredible experience for my boys. The staff are all such wonderful role models. My boys have gained so much self confidence from coming here.
This is a great place to help your kids learn to be better humans, become more socially responsible, have more self-respect for self and others, and gain more confidence! We are very very happy with the Instructors at The Martial Arts Center !
It takes a village to raise a child and you want MAC as part of your village. My child has built so much confidence over the past year that we have attended class at MAC. The instructors are some of the most patient and kind people I have ever met. They make a point to bring themselves to the same level as the students they teach and tell them consistently that they are capable of achieving their goals. They teach life lessons and strong morales. So all students learn more than just self defense, they learn how to be a good and successful person.
Joining The Mac was the best decision our family has made. They treat my son with respect and give him the confidence and encouragement he needs to succeed in life. The impact the MAC will leave on my son will be everlasting. Everyone is incredibly polite and welcoming. It truly is a family atmosphere. We love the MAC!!!
Our family absolutely loves being apart of the MAC family! All of the instructors are so helpful and encouraging to all of the kids (& parents too)! My son loves coming home and practicing the skills he learned!
From Ethan and Sebastian we wish everyone at the Martial Arts Center a happy Thanksgiving and not only would I recommend and say this is a 5 star program but I would say your kids will have so much fun and learn discipline and responsibility great environment with good friendly trainers.
The Martial Arts Center is the best of the best when it come to Martial Arts training. Shoutout to Hiron Gil for being the lead instructor for the Mac. It is also a great environment to learn martial arts even if you are a beginner. You will have a great experience, trust me!
Everything about the program is amazing. Core values with structure.
This place is amazing. I'm so happy I walked into the MAC 2 years ago. I've never had a problem with any instructor or staff member. They're truly a family and will go above and beyond to provide exceptional service. My son Noah has learned discipline, self-defense, confidence and so much more. If you're looking for an extraordinary extra circular activity for your child and want them to learn discipline,self-defense and confidence and so much more call The MAC!
The instructors here and all the staff are absolutely amazing!! They have shown my daughter that she can be such a strong leader and helped her build up her confidence as well as her discipline!! We love our MAC family and are so glad we joined!!!
This place is amazing and every instructor and employee truly wholeheartedly cares for these kids. My son was scared and overwhelmed his first class and didn’t want to come back then changed his mind after kind words from staff now just a few weeks later his confidence is astounding.
This is way more than just martial arts, it is a lifestyle, a family oriented environment in which everyone plays a part of. Life skills that will last a lifetime. We absolutely love being a part of the MAC!
Took my grandson for his first lesson. He loved it.The staff is wonderful.Very patient and kind with my 5 yr old grandson..
The most professional martial arts dojang i have ever seen My 8 year old grandson , Jay Loves all his classes Jay is now Jo Kyo Assistant instructor He would not have been able to accomplish this without the phenomenal training from his instructors Hairon Gil, Rene Cristobal Steven Or all the rest of the incredible instructors
Signing my son up for aftercare at the MAC was the best decision I’ve made. The staff is wonderful. They don’t only provide a safe and fun environment for the kids but they also support the parents and help tackle tough situations. Thank you so much!! I wouldn’t send my son anywhere but here.
Absolutely LOVE this place. Staff and instructors are respectful and are happy to anwser every question you have. My son loves training here and i enjoy watching him learn and interact with other kids! 5 🌟
The MAC is a wonderful family (of all shapes, sizes and types) oriented facility. They get to know each student by name and go out of their way to be as supportive as possible.
The entire staff at this Martial Arts Center is just incredible. Clean spacious facility, phenomenal instructors and just the most amazing experience. I can't thank this team enough for my little ones experience.
Thank you to the MAC for inspiring Karlee and Jackson to challenge themselves from their character building and karate skills and learning how to transfer and apply this to strengthen their life skills. Thank you as a parent for the tips and talks that slow me down so I am also a better listener and better responder to what they are trying to express. Excellent life coaches who lead by example!
When I’m there they always are smiling and having a positive attitude.they have the best instructors and I’m glad that they took MIT under their wings to help us be better and stronger like them.❤️❤️
The MAC has positively shaped my younger siblings with the tools to be a leader and respectful person. The staff goes above and beyond to teach them life skills. The culture is family oriented.
We love the Mac they are great and my niece and nephew love it to.we love all the team and the people that we have meat ❤
Amazing and energetic staff. Classes are put together very well and great group of participants!
The MAC is very family oriented studio. My son and I have been attending the school for 18 months and enjoy every visit. The instructors are friendly and easy to talk with. I have seen them assisting parents with issues outside of the studio, often with just a few words to the children. I highly encourage anyone with the slightest interest to call and set up an appointment to see what the academy has to offer you.
At MAC is great place to be with great instructors and staff.
My son loves coming and loves the instructors, it has definitely helped with self discipline. We are working on listening the first time and have found that he is improving tremendously at home and at school. :)
I love the skills the MAC Ocala teaches my daughter not only self defense, but also self confidence. Great family environment! Wonderful instructors that really care about the kids they teach.
Absolutely love this place. My granddaughter has gained so much since starting here. If you knew her before starting then you would know that she is a completely different person. She is a leader by definition and she has found her voice. Thank you MAC!
In August I signed up my kids and it was the best decision we made. The entire staff is truly devoted to their students. To helping them become better in every aspect from karate to their everyday lives.I recently decided to join my kids on the mat and again so glad I did.You could not ask for a better staff. They go that extra mile with anyone student who needs that extra help and they always have words of encouragement and praise. I enjoy watching my kids and myself as we progress towards our goals both on the mat and off and the MAC has helped us greatly.
You always leave this place feeling like family! The staff is family oriented and you can tell they really care about the children. The students always have a blast when working on learning how to defend themselves safely, but also how to be the best versions of themselves!
First off, I have been training in various martial arts since 1986 and I feel this is an amazing place. Top notch martial arts training and far more. The leadership gained by just attending is great, but they also have specific leadership classes. And if your a little more adventurous you can join the hyper class. I have been training here for just over a year and plan to be here for many years to come. Hope to see you here
This is the best Martial Arts center Intown come and check it out I recommended my kids love it . The instructors are awesome 👍🏼
My son has ADHD and this center has been very patient with him. He has learned to focus, follow directions, and is gaining self confidence. The teachers are very patient with the kids. I highly recommend enrolling your kids or yourself for class. They teach my son self defense and strengthen him mentally and physically.
My grand daughter takes Tang So Do here and she loves it! I can begin to describe the changes I have seen in her behavior and self esteem since going the MAC family! Thank you to the MAC and all its staff!
The staff and everyone at the MAC are amazing! They really have a way of making you instantly feel like part of the MAC family! The classes are structured, but still fun for the students. They not only teach the students Tang Soo Do, but they also teach them respect and discipline along with many other positive characteristics. I highly recommended giving them a try and you’ll see how awesome they are for yourself.
Four members of my family have trained at the Martial Arts Center and I cannot say enough about the influence it has had on my children. Very well organized program and constantly striving to improve the lives of the students. One of the best investments we have made in our family.
I'm so grateful I took a leap of faith and enrolled my son here. I was nervous because I didn't know how our son would adjust to a new schedule but glad we made this step. Such great people and great environment for a child and as well us adults to go to. Elijah has changed and no matter rain, shine, cold out whatever he looks forward coming here. Thank you Martial Arts Center for making a positive change in him and as well all of the students here.
Both my boys take classes here (9 & 10). They started a year ago and we have seen a great improvement in their physical fitness and self esteem. The staff here really cares about everyone who enters their doors.
The best place ever! My daughter has me here 6 days a week and more if she could, lol. Great team who are clearly passionate for the arts. My child has learned so much from self defense to confidence.
Wow is all I can say. This place left me speechless and smiling. Todd was amazing!! Walked me through all of there programs and patiently explained everything to me. I feel more than comfortable allowing my son to become apart of this family oriented facility. It’s super clean and well organized and all staff were genuinely happy to teach these kids ( I got to watch a couple of classes while i toured) If I could give 10 stars I would. They are super reasonably priced as well. I don’t feel like a dollar sign I feel like family.
We love the MAC and what the instructors do for our family. Konnor has learned so much and strives each class to do better. His favorite lesson he has learned "failure is my friend"
This place is great! The instructors are patient, kind, motivational, and truly love what they do. They teach respect for authority, our country, and others. The owner is a wonderful woman that has a sweet and generous spirit. You will not regret being a part of this organization.
My son, Justin has been coming here for almost 4 years, he is 8 now and I have seen my son's focus and self discipline improve so much. The MAC have been like a 2nd family to us. The instructors are awesome, who make it a point to see how he is doing socially and academically. I am so glad we found this school!
We love MAC!! My son can't wait for ninja class! The staff is awesome and the classes are so fun to watch! My son's favorite is ninja bowling and practicing his kicks!
My son was at the MAC for the last 3.5 years. For the first part couple of years, the staff consisted of adult instructors and was run professionally. However, last December all of the adult instructors were let go and in their place, the owner placed teenagers in charge - many started serving as instructors as young as 13. Despite the change - my son continued at the MAC five days a week. It was his life. He earned his 1st degree Dan belt. He was offered a staff position for a few hours a week which he gladly accepted at at the age of 16. During all of those years, my son only missed two days because he was sick. He was there whether he was being paid or just to further his training for the love of the sport and the people he thought of his teammates. However, he was abruptly let go and devastated. Why? I wish I could give you a valid reason but the owner told me that while teaching a class he became nervous, folded his arms, and stumbled over a few words. The owner did not even want to let him go face-to-face but told one of the other teens to text him that he was terminated. However, the other teen opted to tell him face-to-face. After hearing what occurred, I confronted the owner face to face and those were her only reasons - he stammered when teaching a class and folded his arms which showed he was not assertive enough. I asked my son, and he said he remembered the class when the owner was there and he was nervous because she was watching him - I ask the reader this, how many 16-year-old kids aren’t going to be nervous when the owner is watching them and they are in front of 40 kids/parents? My son told me that he stammered when she was watching him because he was so nervous. However, instead of the owner talking to him, she has another teen tell him he is not assertive enough and has been let go. This all could have been handled so much better/differently. Why destroy a teenager's life and take away everything they love? The MAC was my son’s life - he actually believed all of the motivational words they preached, etc about positivity, respect, and being the best you can be. Now he feels humiliated in front of everyone there. The owner calls her teen workers - martial arts instructors in training - MIT. Well then train the teens to be what you want them to be and don’t just destroy their self-esteem and their psyche. They are all just children! Or, better yet, spend the additional money and employ genuine REAL adult martial arts instructors to perform the job. Clearly, the owner truly does not practice what she preaches and they are just BS words to her. She doesn’t care about the well-being or emotions of the children at the MAC who have given YEARS of their lives to the place. I should have seen the red flags when she fired every adult instructor at the place a year ago but I didn’t and I blame myself for that.
Disgusting shoes cover the sidewalk out front every day. This is a public health issue & will be reported to the city for correction. Disgusting management that thinks the public needs to experience this every day. Gross!
I am appalled and shocked at the unprofessional behavior of “The Martial Arts Center" in Ocala Florida on Maricamp rd and I hope this post will help you save a lot of time, money, anguish and make a better choice when selecting a proper martial arts facility for your children. I have sacrificed a lot over several years to bring my children to "The Martial Arts Center." I am a single mother and first responder. As you can imagine being on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic has been challenging, in between emergencies and the longest hours any medical professional has ever worked. Despite all of this - I still managed to take my children to private classes that I was paying a lot of money for at "The Martial Arts Center."The teachers are teenagers and their behavior has always been quite unprofessional in several instances but I let it slide for some time... this incident puts the nail in the coffin! For years my children have worked extremely hard, especially my son, towards "The Midnight Blue Belt". I got called to help The National Gaurd during the pandemic and my children missed 2 days due to this emergency. To make up for the missed days, I even paid for private lessons because I didn’t want my son to be denied the chance to test for the "The Midnight Blue Belt.” Even though I was told they could test after I paid for private lessons. Last minute after I paid - the teacher and owner said they changed their mind and said my children could not test. This is completely unprofessional. On top of that the teenage teachers screamed at my children and made them cry because they missed two classes. When I brought up the unprofessional and childish behavior to the owner Rene William's to give her a chance to rectify the situation- she failed to correct the situation and tried to get more money out of me. This program is supposed to bring children up, not bring them down. Over the years I have sacrificed to get my children to class, I also let all the price increases slide. Even though other (karate places are cheaper) I stuck it out here. But now I see I should have left sooner. I am not the type to post reviews. I keep to myself because I am a very busy hard working medical professional, but dealing with the unprofessional behavior and price increases over the years I wouldn’t give this place even a half a star. I hope my post helps parents make informed decision to choose, "Florida Martial Arts and Fitness Center," instead and have a better experience.
