The martial arts center is everything you could ever want in a martial arts studio! Everyone is so welcoming and kind. The culture is fantastic, the practitioners are always cheering each other on, there’s healthy competition, and everyone steps in to help each other out. I would give more stars if there were more than 5 to give! The MAC is an amazing place! It's been over 4yrs and this place is like a 2nd home to us. The Staff here genuinely care about the students. They dont just teach Martial Arts, they are teaching life skills. I see multiple life skills they taught my daughter in her every day life outside of The MAC. I am so thankful for the Owner Renee Williams for all she has done & continues to do for all of us at The MAC and the community. Renee is always giving back to the community and teaches the students about giving back & lending a helping hand when you can. Such a positive & uplifting atmosphere. I have so many great experiences to tell about The MAC, I could write a book!

My now 8 yr old boy and 9 yr old girl, have coming here for 2 years and 2 months now. They both have become more confident, more aware, and are both doing better in school! My son also has ADHD and Anxiety. This has helped with both of those as well. They are both in the advanced class and the leadership program they offer. I always have nothing but good things to say when I am asked about this school. If you are wondering if it is a good fit for you and your child or if you are an adult and want to start then come on in! They offer an exploration class free of charge to see if it's for you.

The Martial Arts Center has been so amazing for my son. Since he started there almost a year and a half ago (at age 3.5) He has found his voice, his confidence has grown, and he really applies the lessons he’s been taught (respect, discipline, self-esteem, communication, etc…) the best way a 5 year old can. When he is struggling at home or on the mat, I know I can talk to any one of his instructors and they will work with him. Recently he was having some issues with self control, I spoke to Hairon Gil about it and he gave my son a goal to work towards and some extra motivation and it meant so so much to him (and me). He was so excited today to tell Mr. Gil that he met his goal! At one point today, my son was tired and ready to quit, Gil Kyo Sa Nim (hope I spelled that right 😂) pushed him to keep going and not give up and sure enough… my sweet boy didn’t quit. At dinner tonight, one of My son’s “highs” for the day was helping lead his karate class some today ❤️ I am so thankful for the relationship he has developed with Mr. Gil and Ms. Jaylen Lewis. We had considered finding a new place because He wanted to try another activity as well and cost wise, it just didn’t make sense, but he didn’t want to leave the MAC and honestly, these types of relationships are priceless. I’m so glad he has such good role models in his life ❤️❤️ 🥋

We're so incredibly pleased with The Martial Arts Center and their program! Our son would go seven days a week if he were able to! He's always so enthusiastic about learning his forms and progressing his skills, as well as meeting up with his friends (kids and staff alike). We love the comprehensive program that not only teaches the technical side of karate, but also the life skills and character-building concepts like integrity, respect, self-control, and honesty. It's always a joy to watch when Kyo Sa Nim pulls the kids aside to teach a relevant lesson about something that occurs in class. The aspect that we're most impressed with, however, is the staff. The instructors are simply incredible. I've never seen a group of people who are more talented, kind, warm, charismatic, and suited for teaching who are all congregated in one building. Each one of them spends personal time with our son, working with and encouraging him in the kindest way possible, and it always makes me smile. That kind of interaction is not something you can pay for, and it's wonderful. We love The Martial Arts Center and would highly recommend it to anyone!

The MAC is very family oriented studio. My son and I have been attending the school for 18 months and enjoy every visit. The instructors are friendly and easy to talk with. In August I signed up my kids and it was the best decision we made. The entire staff is truly devoted to their students. Four members of my family have trained at the Martial Arts Center and I cannot say enough about the influence it has had on my children. Very well organized program and constantly striving to improve the lives of the students. One of the best investments we have made in our family.

I'm so grateful I took a leap of faith and enrolled my son here. I was nervous because I didn't know how our son would adjust to a new schedule but glad we made this step. Such great people and great environment for a child and as well us adults to go to. Elijah has changed and no matter rain, shine, cold out whatever he looks forward coming here. Thank you Martial Arts Center for making a positive change in him and as well all of the students here.

Both my boys take classes here (9 & 10). They started a year ago and we have seen a great improvement in their physical fitness and self esteem. The staff here really cares about everyone who enters their doors.

Wow is all I can say. This place left me speechless and smiling. Todd was amazing!! Walked me through all of there programs and patiently explained everything to me. I feel more than comfortable allowing my son to become apart of this family oriented facility. It’s super clean and well organized and all staff were genuinely happy to teach these kids ( I got to watch a couple of classes while i toured) If I could give 10 stars I would. They are super reasonably priced as well. I don’t feel like a dollar sign I feel like family.

This place is great! The instructors are patient, kind, motivational, and truly love what they do. They teach respect for authority, our country, and others. The owner is a wonderful woman that has a sweet and generous spirit. You will not regret being a part of this organization.

My son, Justin has been coming here for almost 4 years, he is 8 now and I have seen my son's focus and self discipline improve so much. The MAC have been like a 2nd family to us. The instructors are awesome, who make it a point to see how he is doing socially and academically. I am so glad we found this school!

My son was at the MAC for the last 3.5 years. For the first part couple of years, the staff consisted of adult instructors and was run professionally. However, last December all of the adult instructors were let go and in their place, the owner placed teenagers in charge - many started serving as instructors as young as 13. Despite the change - my son continued at the MAC five days a week. It was his life. He earned his 1st degree Dan belt. He was offered a staff position for a few hours a week which he gladly accepted at at the age of 16. During all of those years, my son only missed two days because he was sick. He was there whether he was being paid or just to further his training for the love of the sport and the people he thought of his teammates. However, he was abruptly let go and devastated. Why? I wish I could give you a valid reason but the owner told me that while teaching a class he became nervous, folded his arms, and stumbled over a few words. The owner did not even want to let him go face-to-face but told one of the other teens to text him that he was terminated. However, the other teen opted to tell him face-to-face. After hearing what occurred, I confronted the owner face to face and those were her only reasons - he stammered when teaching a class and folded his arms which showed he was not assertive enough. I asked my son, and he said he remembered the class when the owner was there and he was nervous because she was watching him - I ask the reader this, how many 16-year-old kids aren’t going to be nervous when the owner is watching them and they are in front of 40 kids/parents? My son told me that he stammered when she was watching him because he was so nervous. However, instead of the owner talking to him, she has another teen tell him he is not assertive enough and has been let go. This all could have been handled so much better/differently. Why destroy a teenager's life and take away everything they love? The MAC was my son’s life - he actually believed all of the motivational words they preached, etc about positivity, respect, and being the best you can be. Now he feels humiliated in front of everyone there. The owner calls her teen workers - martial arts instructors in training - MIT. Well then train the teens to be what you want them to be and don’t just destroy their self-esteem and their psyche. They are all just children! Or, better yet, spend the additional money and employ genuine REAL adult martial arts instructors to perform the job. Clearly, the owner truly does not practice what she preaches and they are just BS words to her. She doesn’t care about the well-being or emotions of the children at the MAC who have given YEARS of their lives to the place. I should have seen the red flags when she fired every adult instructor at the place a year ago but I didn’t and I blame myself for that.

I am appalled and shocked at the unprofessional behavior of “The Martial Arts Center" in Ocala Florida on Maricamp rd and I hope this post will help you save a lot of time, money, anguish and make a better choice when selecting a proper martial arts facility for your children. I have sacrificed a lot over several years to bring my children to "The Martial Arts Center." I am a single mother and first responder. As you can imagine being on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic has been challenging, in between emergencies and the longest hours any medical professional has ever worked. Despite all of this - I still managed to take my children to private classes that I was paying a lot of money for at "The Martial Arts Center."The teachers are teenagers and their behavior has always been quite unprofessional in several instances but I let it slide for some time... this incident puts the nail in the coffin! For years my children have worked extremely hard, especially my son, towards "The Midnight Blue Belt". I got called to help The National Gaurd during the pandemic and my children missed 2 days due to this emergency. To make up for the missed days, I even paid for private lessons because I didn’t want my son to be denied the chance to test for the "The Midnight Blue Belt.” Even though I was told they could test after I paid for private lessons. Last minute after I paid - the teacher and owner said they changed their mind and said my children could not test. This is completely unprofessional. On top of that the teenage teachers screamed at my children and made them cry because they missed two classes. When I brought up the unprofessional and childish behavior to the owner Rene William's to give her a chance to rectify the situation- she failed to correct the situation and tried to get more money out of me. This program is supposed to bring children up, not bring them down. Over the years I have sacrificed to get my children to class, I also let all the price increases slide. Even though other (karate places are cheaper) I stuck it out here. But now I see I should have left sooner. I am not the type to post reviews. I keep to myself because I am a very busy hard working medical professional, but dealing with the unprofessional behavior and price increases over the years I wouldn’t give this place even a half a star. I hope my post helps parents make informed decision to choose, "Florida Martial Arts and Fitness Center," instead and have a better experience.
