  Florida School of Ju-jitsu and Tai Chi helped me lose over 60 lbs, gain strength, and achieve balance. This dojo is a staple of my life and wellbeing. Sensei Bettie, Sensei Cecil, and Sensei Jess have established this dojo in such a way that it instills respect, responsibility, and honor. All of the senseis and students respect other styles of martial arts and culture. They facilitate a safe environment for education and practice. We have gained a sense of family with people who have all come from many different and diverse walks of life. I could not be more grateful for the opportunities, the challenges, and the help that I have been given here. I look forward to many more years at this establishment and to continue my lifelong journey of martial arts.

  I started Jujitsu having muscle atrophy. I didn't even know how to tumble. But my Senseis and classmates have taught me so much over this past year or so. I've come so far because of this school! It has changed my life for the better! Thank you, Sensei Cecil, Sensei Betty, and Sensei Jess!

  I love attending GOSHIN jujitsu- hosted by Sensei Cecil and Sensei Bettie. I have learned so much about the culture and self-defense. It has increased my confidence and physical ability. The sensei's are patient while still maintaining the discipline. I have a lot of respect for the journey they have taken and are taking me on. I recommend GOSHIN jujitsu to everyone I know!

  The people were very nice and the "Tai Chi" class itself was fun. But my mom and I were looking to not just sort of learn the movements, we also wanted to learn the philosophy -- the full experience of Tai Chi and Qi Gong, if you will. I can't recall the name of the 3rd martial art used. But it was the treatment of that final martial art that was the ultimate deal-breaker. Bluntly speaking, if you've been teaching a thing for 30+ years, one would think the teachers would have also learned the philosophy and culture behind it. They didn't. Instead, I got to hear racist jokes about "we don't know why the Chinese named these movements they way they did; perhaps they were tossing names around while doing opium and settled on whatever sounded good." Are. You. SERIOUS?! Y'all's website advertises that you "respect other martial arts". How is making racist jokes about the names of the movements "showing respect"? I'm just so curious. I know we're in the deep south, but I somehow expected people with 60+ years in martial arts to AT LEAST have enough respect to not make racist jokes. That's the literal bare minimum they could do if they're not going to bother learning the history, culture, or philosophies behind what they're teaching. I am very glad my mom and I found somewhere else to go. We're both predominantly white, but neither of us are comfortable with other white people flinging their racism around and thinking they're safe to do so because they're surrounded by nothing but other white people. If that's not what it was, that's at least how it very much looked. No, thank you.
