Outstanding coaching and an absolutely first class facility. If you’ve ever considered taking up Jiujitsu come and give the grappling academy a try, the atmosphere is amazing and welcoming, the coaching is first class & it’s great for fitness and weight loss
Amazing facility, friendly staff and training partners, elite level coaching, multiple sessions to attend throughout the week for a great price. Couldn’t ask for much more 👌
Would 100% recommend to anybody thinking of trying something new. I did the 8 week beginners course and it made me feel more comfortable that there were others with no experience as well. Can’t fault Ash, Tom and Katie, they’ve created a friendly atmosphere and good community as well as being all round nice people and great coaches
An amazing facility with the highest level of coaches available! Classes are carefully planned, the people are very welcoming and friendly, and it's suitable whether you're looking for a casual BJJ experience or wish to compete!
The coaches here are very knowledgeable, experienced and approachable. The facilities are great and the community is very welcoming. Highly recommended.
Having tried BJJ before, I always struggled to stay consistent, mainly because of the environment at some other gyms. Since joining The Grappling Academy, that’s completely changed. I’m now training consistently and enjoying it more than ever. The biggest difference is the coaches and the atmosphere they’ve created. There’s no ego, everyone is welcoming, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced grappler—you’re made to feel part of the team from day one. I genuinely can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re thinking about starting BJJ or looking for a new gym, The Grappling Academy is an excellent choice.
Saw coach Ash in the local gym and approached him. Mentioned I had seen his post on Instagram and always wanted to do BJJ. He was super friendly and told me to come down any time. After a lot of back and forth on social media (lots of questions) I decided to take up the weekly offer of £5. Never looked back! Love the training facility and the training is intense but more importantly fun. I also have 1-2-1 with coach Tom to compliment my weekly training as I sometimes struggle to concentrate in the main classes as it's a lot to take in - best thing I've done and what a guy. A lifetime hobby alongside my daughter who now also trains. One thing I will say is that their engagement on social media really stood out. They were genuinely interested, answered a lot of my questions in the quickest time, and that was the main factor that convinced me to join. Co-owner, Katie, makes you feel like you're also part of the Grappling Academy family, too - Let's go!
I visited Ash's gym following a recommendation to get down and check it out whilst I was working away. The recommendation was not wrong! The facility is top level 👌🏻 clean, open space. You can tell Ash and his team have put alot of thought into little details where people would want to train. Pleasent and welcoming on arrival, easy to jump on and be added to the class via the MAAT app, so add them to your gym list! As for the class which was followed by an open mat too, Ash and Tom's philosophy towards training was awesome! Super knowledgeable. Spent the time with me on questions that I had. Kept good energy flowing throughout the class! In the open mat everyone was welcoming there too! Good competitive rolls! Head to grappling academy whether your new or experienced. You won't be disappointed!
Been wanting to try BJJ/Submission grappling for ages but didn't want to walk in to an "established " class on my own and feel totally out of my depth. I seen on social media that the Grappling Academy were doing an 8 week beginners course so I popped down beforehand, had a chat with Tom (one of the coaches)and watched a class. Signing up on the beginners course has been one of the best things I've done, it's built my fitness up and given me something to look forward to weekly. Ash, Tom and Katie are fab, the facility is amazing, i really can't recommend the place highly enough. If you ever thought about giving BJJ a try then this is the place to do it 👌
The coaches at the Grappling Academy are so welcoming, friendly, and patient. It’s been amazing to watch my son learn the basics of grappling, as well as respect and self-control. The children all get along really well, and there’s a great atmosphere for parents too. we enjoy watching the classes, having a chat, and a coffee. The lovely Katie makes a great coffee and is always so friendly and chatty, which just adds to the welcoming vibe. A fantastic place for kids to learn and grow!
Posted 11 months agoI finally kicked off my BJJ journey a few weeks ago at The Grappling Academy after thinking about it for a while. I was a bit nervous heading into my first class (as you'd expect), but the coaches and staff were very welcoming which put me at ease. The gym is fantastic and the training has been challenging and enjoyable. Plus, it’s an awesome workout. If you’ve been thinking about giving BJJ a shot, I definitely recommend checking out The Grappling Academy.
Posted 11 months agoI joined The Grappling Academy in Llanelli five weeks ago and I’m absolutely loving it! The sessions are fun, challenging, and a brilliant way to improve fitness—I can already feel the difference. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and friendly, which makes it easy to look forward to every training session. Whether you're a complete beginner or have experience, this place makes you feel right at home. Highly recommend checking it out!
Posted 11 months agoI (Marc) just had my first class here and what Ash and the team have done there is great. The space is nice and open, clean and the overall atmosphere is brilliant while training. Ash and Tom (the coaches) are super nice guys and happy to help, Aswel as the reception staff. recommend it to anyone wanting to train BJJ/grappling.
