  Brilliant gym. John is hugely knowledgeable and has a gift for breaking techniques down into practical details that actually work under pressure. The atmosphere is genuinely friendly — everyone is supportive and there to learn, with none of the egos you sometimes see elsewhere. A great mix of styles and experience levels too, so there’s something for everyone. Strongly recommend to anyone considering giving it a go

From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed with warmth and professionalism. The reception team greets every member with friendly smiles and top-notch admin support. The gym itself is well-equipped and accessible, with fees that reflect a genuine commitment to inclusivity. But what really makes AFC stand out are the coaches. Their achievements speak volumes, and their dedication earns nothing but respect. At the heart of AFC is the beautiful Atkin family, whose love and commitment have built a community. Erin is an incredible coach, and I’m so grateful for the way she’s mentored my little one. Her patience, skill, and care have made a huge impact. To those who wonder why I brought my son here at just five years old: I believe in non-violence, but I also believe in the power of martial arts to heal, empower, and help us grow. AFC provides a safe space to spar—not to hurt, but to learn how to protect ourselves and build confidence. My love and gratitude go out to AFC, and I can’t speak highly enough of John Atkin.   The Advanced Fighting Centre was recommended to us by someone who trained with John for years. Our daughter was welcomed and made to feel part of the club straight away. Fantastic family run club with talented and qualified coaches. Really nice people too 👍

  Absolutely amazing place, great staff and fantastic classes. I've trained under John in both Boxing and Kickboxing. My daughter also attends the children's MMA, Kickboxing and Self-Defence classes. We both love it and highly recommend.

  Was made to feel welcome by everyone straight away. John is a fantastic teacher, he has so much knowledge and is fantastic at every art that he practise. I have learned already so much from him with every training and it is explained in a great way that is understanble and with a good dose of humor. You notice that it is a family owned gym as not only John but his whole family truly care and have a big heart for the gym and for the people that train there.
