This gym and its coaches dedicate themselves to teaching detailed technique and providing a safe sparring environment. Everyone is friendly and pushes each other dependent on each other’s goals. I drive a long way to come to this gym specifically because of how much support the team gives.
I highly recommend Tony's BJJ Intensive course, which I was fortunate to complete over the past 90 days. The program consists of four primary pillars: Mindset, Techniques, Nutrition, and Strength & Conditioning. The coursework provided detailed information on proper nutrition and BJJ-specific weight and interval training, helping me lose 10 pounds and increase my overall stamina on the mat. The personalized materials, tailored to my personality and body type, combined with Tony's emphasis on a champion's mindset, significantly improved my confidence and approach to training and development. Best of all, I have now developed habits to maintain a healthy weight and strategically approach my training to improve my technique, ensure my safety, and plan for my next progression in BJJ. Tony consistently provided weekly check-ins, took the time to answer my questions in detail, and held me accountable for the goals I set. I greatly appreciate his help and support throughout this program!

Awesome place to learn and train BJJ. Professor Tony is very welcoming as is everyone who studies with him. It doesn't matter who you drill or roll with, everyone is about helping each other get better. I really get it when Professor Tony teaches and the assistant intructors are great as well. He sometimes also has seminars with UFC fighters you can learn from. All in all a good choice.
My husband has been coming to this gym since before covid. He's been begging me to join for the longest, but I just didn't have it in me to join. Wasn't until we registered our 8-year-old daughter that made me want to try out a free trial class. I struggle with high-functioning anxiety. I practice mindfulness, journaling, breathwork, therapy, you name it, I do it all. The impact BJJ has on my mental health is absolutely breathtaking. If you are looking for a school to learn and grow with then this is a fantastic place to start! BJJ works with people of all sizes so you will learn many things but in the end you stay because it's fun and engaging! This schools location has been growing quickly over the last few months. The school has even incorporated muay Thai on Saturdays. It's tough at first so go slow and at your own pace. "Slap, Bump" Let's roll!
I was in town visiting family from NJ and my coach along with his close contact, strongly recommended I stop by this gym to train. So I called and spoke with Professor Tony to get everything setup. I dropped in for a lunch session w/ Coach Brian. The atmosphere was very friendly, positive, productive and accommodating. Deep sincere thank you to everyone I got to train with. I certainly recommend this gym to anyone looking to train in the area. Also next time, I will bring my 5yr old daughter's gi to attend the kid's classes as well. I’ve had the pleasure of attending Casarez BJJ since February of this year. Tony and our other instructors are highly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely care about our growth and development. They truly take the time to help us with our technique and all other facets of BJJ training. I also have a tremendous amount of respect for my peers and the overall culture of this place! It’s excellent and I strongly recommend it!!
I’ve trained here off and on for a couple years now. Despite my weak consistency and at times taking months off during busy seasons at work, Tony & Fernie have always been flexible and accommodating with my schedule making it easy for me. They take pride in their work and genuinely want students to improve and reach their goals. For that reason, they attract a great group of people at all skill levels which makes for great rolling and a fun culture. I’m in the process of buying a house and would be lying if I said I wasn’t taking into account how far away the houses are from this gym.
Really great school I’ve been training here about a year and I’ve seen significant improvements in my Jiu Jitsu. Besides that point the environment is very friendly and relaxed everyone is nice and welcoming. This pairs well with the high level Jiu Jitsu. Keep it up tony!
I have been training with Tony since I moved to NC in 2015. Great gym and and environment. Tony is a great coach and always willing to help if you have a question. Location is nice and mat space is abundant.
Dropped in from out of town and had a wonderful experience. Stayed for all their classes today. Their team is solid with no ego/no bruisers. Highly recommend this gym if you're local or from out of town like myself. If you're on the fence just make the dive and give these guys a shot; it's worth it. One of the best clubs I've attended in training all over the country. They offered a military/ first responder discount, communication was great and took alot of anxiety about getting on the mats after a hiatus. Thnx for the opportunity Professor Tony, from Kevin T

As an out of towner doing drop in sessions, Team Casarez had very welcoming staff and athletes. It is a no ego gym, where people are genuinely helping and pushing each other to get better. I felt there was a high focus on the details of techniques and ensuring everyone got proper instruction. With multiple classes each day, finding a convenient class time was easy. I would highly recommend Professor Casarez and this team. They run a very professional facility for all ages.

I have been taking my son to Team Casarez Jiu-Jitsu for almost 1 year now. At first I wasnt very sure about it, my son is 5 and is very energetic and hyperactive so I had my fears about him being able to adapt and focus enough to learn the basics of this sport. But as the time went by I changed my mind and stayed in this gym until leaving NC. Here are some of my notes and I hope they are helpful 1- The staff as of the time of this post has been nothing short of outstanding. Fast response, able to understand customer needs and schedule, they even split the kids classes from two spots a week to 10 spots a week where you get to choose when to come, I tried to send my son every day. 2- The coaches are well educated and highly trained, but most importantly patient and calm with kids. My son is very active and he does run and jump and makes noises, I was very surprised to see that they were able to grab his attention and he even learned a lot of things. Side note, I was even more impressed that the owner would dedicate time to teach young kids when he is a black belt and has better things to do. 3- I would have loved to have the chance to do some workout while my son was in the gym but the space is limited to training, hopefully in the future you guys will expand and take that into consideration 4- The trust that I had with this team allowed me to sometimes drop my son and go do something urgent for 5-10 mins without me worrying about him in the gym - this is obviously isnt recommended we are all supposed to watch our kids while they train and interact but I felt confident in them to do so. 5- This is worth every penny you pay !!
Such a great place to learn martial arts im learning alot my teacher is great hes helping me work around my right hand issue because im underdeveloped and disabled but they help me be good at martial arts anyway and its great self defense and everyone is welcoming. Its a great physical activity im learning alot. Its great for kids too and its for everyone
All my 3 kids are there. Great instructors and helped improve my kids confidence and self difference. The teach enabled my son to win BJJ tournaments, so it's legit.
Awesome gym, super clean, really inviting, great instructors. I am new to BJJ and was really intimidated at first (I have heard most places just throw you into the fire) but Team Casarez totally changed my perspective and I’ve had a great experience going. When you first start they instruct you on the basics and teach a lot of useful techniques and then you get to move into rolling with other students. I’ve been going for about two months now and haven’t had a bad experience, everyone who goes is really friendly and is always willing to teach you new stuff and make you better. I have friends who attend other gyms and they tell me about the bad experiences they’ve had, and I haven’t run into any problems going here. I recommend Team Casarez to anyone who’s starting out and even for the more seasoned students. Awesome gym all around!

I’ve trained and competed across the US and Team Casarez is high level Jiujitsu. Tony and his coaches respect their students, protect their athletes, and teach with humility. Whether it’s your first time trying Brazilian Jiujitsu, or you’ve been on the path for awhile, you’ll be better all around by walking into Team Casarez Jiu-Jitsu and signing up to learn the art.
Absolutely the best BJJ you'll find in the triangle regardless of your training intent -- whether your goals are competition, self-defense, or just to get in shape, Tony, Ferny, and everybody else here are more than willing to help you on your journey. It's rare to find an academy where the environment/culture is equally as friendly and welcoming as it is effective about the actual training involved, but Casarez BJJ does just that.
Kids classes are outstanding; wish there were more days offered though. I tried several gyms in the area for my kids, and this one by far is the best overall experience. All of the coaches are on point. No need to compete, but if you do the coaches will be in your kids corner in tournaments.

Top notch facility for learning jiu jitsu. I have been attending for about 1 month now, and my experience has been amazing. Having never trained a martial art in my life, I was worried about starting. Every member of the team has been extremely welcoming, with absolutely zero judgement. Everyone is willing to help, and excited to share their knowledge. Professor Tony and all of the coaches are gems of humans and run a fantastic facility. I highly recommend making this your gym.

I visited the gym while in North Carolina from New York. Tony and his brother were super welcoming. I had a great time training and got in some good rolls with good people. I look forward to training here again the next time I’m in North Carolina.

Best place to train in the area by far. I joined the gym in December of last year and recently moved 45mins away. I have no problem making the commute because of the environment and professor. All the students are welcoming and always wiling to help. Professor Tony is amazing with his instruction and attention to detail.

Amazing BJJ gym. I have been training over 11 years, this last year I moved to NC and joined this gym. The instruction is very clear and technically sound. The people are incredibly friendly, and it is possibly the cleanest gym I have ever been to. Can't say enough about it!
I feel so happy and blessed that I found Casarez BJJ after moving to Cary from NY. I must have looked at and contacted 20 academies in Wake County after I moved, but Casarez was the first to make things easy and make me feel welcome. There was a vibe from the conversation that made me try Casarez first, and I'm so glad I followed my gut. It turns out, there was no need to try anywhere else. I signed up here the first day and couldn't be happier. Once again, the vibe and gut feeling just told me I found my new home, and I'm so glad it did. I've had the honor of training at some of the best academies in the country with some of the best professors/coaches and training partners around, and I can tell you Team Casarez stacks up with the very best. Professor Tony has been teaching me things the past 7 months that I never even fathomed in my previous 6 years of training. To be learning new details at this stage of my training is extremely refreshing. He sets an amazing example for this students... He is open minded, kind, intelligent, successful, a great dad and family man, calm, confident, has a great attitude and is always smiling.. He trains hard, has multiple titles, received his black belt from one of the best ever, and still competes with everything on his plate. Most importantly, he's an amazing teacher and coach. The academy is always clean and fresh looking, has good music playing, and like I said just has a great positive energy to it. The sign up process, keeping track of your progress, and booking classes is so easy with their awesome software and member portal (something I haven't seen at any other academies). If you're looking for a BJJ academy or just self defense, if you're experienced or a beginner, if you just want a fun way to excercise and lose weight, if you have any curiosity about martial arts at all.... take my advice, look no further, and come in for a free trial!

Best in the Triangle. High value instructors and a great group of people from diverse backgrounds to learn from and train with. Even early on two weeks in, I felt like part of the family. Tony is very high level and detail oriented - hard to find guys like him to train under.
I've been attending classes at Casarez BJJ for a few weeks now and I must say my expectations have been blown out of the water! I came in with no experience and immediately felt right at home. The community is very welcoming and everyone is so helpful when I have questions. The coaches are great teachers and you can tell that they are all very passionate about what they do. If you're in the triangle area and are considering starting BJJ, this is absolutely the place to be!
Excellent school! Professor Tony is an amazing instructor with a very high level to detail in training! Class is ran excellent with many different classes available each day! Very clean environment! People are amazing with very good students! I moved over here from Massachusetts, from an MMA school, and now that I'm getting older I'm going to concentrate on just BJJ and I couldn't have found a better place! It's a good training day when you fog up the windows!

I've been coming here for just over a year now and I have to say this is one of the best environments to train in. Everyone at Casarez's BJJ care about the well being of the class. Everyone does their best to raise their peers to get better. This kind of behavior keeps people motivated to keep training. The Teacher does a lot outside of the gym for the students. For example when I competed in my 1st tournament the teachers came, did warm ups and provided food to keep the people competing fresh and ready to go.
I absolutely love this place! I came in without any experience and they were very professional and methodical in starting me out! The trainers are you extremely professional and very helpful at all times. Any questions you have they will never fail to answer! Overall a great community and great price for the fantastic level of coaching and training they provide!

Disclaimer: I attended Casarez BJJ for a year starting summer of 2019. I was, and remain, a white belt. I no longer attend but hope to be a member again in the future. This place is top notch for a number of reasons. First, the head instructor, Tony. A class act who facilitates an environment that is warm and welcoming to all. Truly a place where I felt comfortable being a complete beginner and where I could see people who, not that long ago, were in my shoes and were now winning competitions and helping the new white belts like myself learn the ropes. The place is diverse, too, with numerous women and people from different backgrounds. This is not a place full of a bunch of toxic dudes who want to choke you out to prove something to themselves. Everyone trusts in the system and their coach and the mutual respect between students here is unmatched. I attended as an adult, but saw some of the kids program. Tony was patient and kind with the children but also didn't lose his air of authority. Truly this is a place where everyone recognizes his skill and respects his role as their teacher. If I had a child and wanted them to learn a martial art, not only would I choose BJJ, but I would choose this dojo solely because of Tony's skill with teaching children. For people considering attending or having their child attend, you must. If you have experience in the art, you will quickly see how legit this place is. If you are new and are having trouble discerning that, trust in the atmosphere and know this a dojo that will facilitate your growth if you are humble and wanting to learn.
Tony and his classes are top in the area for sure! Unfortunately I was only able to attend for 3 months because I had to relocate for work. Very professional, very clean, and great group of people. When I travel to the RDU area I will stop in for sure. I highly recommend this place to anyone at any experience level! Thanks again Tony!

Wonderful place to train jiujitsu! I moved to North Carolina with my family back in September and needed a place to continue my jiujitsu journey. After emailing Tony, I came in for a trial class to check out the environment. I was very happy to discover a great atmosphere. Tony is a caring person who is also very passionate about teaching. He is easy to talk to and makes you feel right at home in his school. There are classes everyday ranging from structured to informal training. The kids classes are always packed and have multiple adults helping out. For the adult classes, there is something for everyone. If you're a casual training kind of person, you can learn a lot and get in a great workout with zero pressure. If you enjoy competing, there are tougher training sessions and some tough folks there to help you get better. I have a ton of fun here! Super happy that I found this place 😊
I came in from out of town. I participated in both the fundamentals and advanced classes offered that evening for the same mat fee. Everyone there was extremely friendly and made feel appreciated by choosing to train with them over the other options in the area. Great people, great place, couldn't be more satisfied.
I was visiting the Cary area last week and ended up taking my whole family 3yo, 6yo, and myself. Tony was very impressionable and welcoming to everyone coming in for the day. We felt right at home after 10 minutes there. The family atmosphere he was able to create in his gym is exactly what makes BJJ enjoyable for us. The kids instruction felt very personalized with the number of instructors they had available to help the kids. The adult instruction was fast paced, but very informative. I enjoyed the breakdown of positions and explanation of circumstances to in which each position would be most useful. We didn't get full rolls in at the end of class, but specifics were fast paced and fun. Higher ranked members of the gym used opportunities to pass on their knowledge.

I cannot say enough good things about Tony, all the instructors, and the entire school. My wife and I have learned so much with such a great group of people. You feel like a BJJ family in there. The instruction is top notch, and without a doubt I would recommend it to anyone interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the Cary NC area. They offer both GI an NoGI classes throughout the week which is nice for someone with a busy schedule. Plus as a Lucas Lepri Affiliate you have seminars from some of the best in the world throughout the year. I just recently started taking the Capoeria classes there as well which has been a blast.
Tony is an excellent instructor and the training there is great. The kids program is excellent and everyone was super nice.

Tony is the man, and one of the most compassionate people I have met in my life. At this academy you'll learn excellent Jiu-Jitsu for whatever your goals are (self defense, competition or simply for fitness) and you'll be welcomed into a great family friendly environment. Tony will welcome you; not to mention he is a great competitor and Lucas Lepri black belt himself.
Tony is the most humble, detailed and kindest/ caring instructor you will ever meet. He truely shows his passion and love for this martial art/ lifestyle through his teachings. He is a student of the great 6x world champion Professor Lucas Lepri, so his techniques are legit and proven to be effective, either it be self defense or sport. Being a part of this family has changed my life for the better.
They won't let you train at this gym without a uniform even in no GI. They should probably tell people that on the phone before taking the time to drive to the intro class I drove 15 miles when I got there they refused to let me train without purchasing their shirt which was close to $30. It's just a way to charge you extra money and seems a little ridiculous in my opinion since every other gym I've been to does not have that requirement. Overall the customer service was bad staff is not willing to work with you even if your new.
The Coaches are knowledgeable martial artists, and have decent training parameters, but are very poor businessmen, and very poor customer service agents. Not only did they lie about the contract, but no matter how many times I tried to make peace, the primary coach was rude, actively combative, and made no attempts at understanding my family's situation. He lied about the costs (quoted different discount prices for the 3rd person on the contract), and also lied about how they handle account freezes. Do not join this gym if you expect any gaps in your training. You will continue to pay for the membership, whether you are available to train (whether the issue be sickness, injury, or travel). I have never seen a sensei or master that cared so little for the individual student as I have observed here. Despite their response, I can assure all who read this 100% that I never disrupted any of their classes. ALL of our conversations took place via phone or AFTER class. And while I was indeed frustrated for obvious reasons, I never raised my voice or yelled, or cursed or used vulgar or profane language. Everything I said maintained the pinnacle of respect and dignity. So once again they are lying to protect themselves. Despicable!
I have never seen such an unprofessional way to conduct a business. This is a "boys only club" who is led by a coach that knows no bounds. Which is good for the sport a d spirit. However, when other artworks are expressed; go to an MMA gym . This place is run like words I won't express. And the coach is a real piece of work. Tried calling to make amends and he was a piece of work on the phone. Even though he terminated (via yelling) he won't refund. Absolutely best for new comers. Worst a day done and dirty for anyone with experience.
