I've been here for a few years and they have always been great. They've accommodated my disabilities as much as physically possible, and helped me to get further then I could go alone. The lessons are useful and explained clearly, and I have truly learned a lot at the pace I need to learn it. It's worth it for me, I hope others enjoy it too.
Our daughter Vy'nae has been attending Tactical Martial Arts for 4 years now and it has been one of the best experience she has had. She has grown not only in confidence and skills but in her mannerism in becoming a teenager lady. I recommend for any parent to have their child attend the staff are all awesome.
The instructors and staff are extremely knowledgeable, caring and treat everyone like family. They offer classes for the entire family and put a lot of emphasis on focus and self discipline in their program. I can’t recommend this school enough
We recently moved here from South Florida where my daughter was a black belt at a small, family operated gym. My wife found GTMA and they helped make my daughter feel comfortable while also keeping her training up. Everyone is so nice and the facilities are huge! Couldn’t be happier with the find!
Man!!! Its been over a decade since I attended this Martial Arts class at the time it was called ATA Karate I'm 27 yrs old and I went here when I was in 5th grade I'm glad this place still exists only difference is the name change, don't know how long it's been called Tactical Martial Arts but I loved this place as a kid.
My favorite place ever!! Staff, students and families are all the best!
For millennial parents raisin gen z and alpha, sign your kids up!!! We are constantly talking to our kids about engaging, talking with others, supporting each others and stand up for themselves and others. This group of instructions supports that. From Mz Fulton to Mr smothers, Tod to Ms Smothers, thee team is relatable. They teach respect and connections. They involve the real world and individualization. It is a team effort and a group that cares if you succeed, when you put the effort in to reach the goals. GTMA!
This is long overdue and I apologize for the delay. My son has been coming here for about 2 years now after taking a hiatus from another Dojang. The Owners, The Administrative Staff (especially Ms. Patience), and all of the Instructors are PHENOMENALLY OUTSTANDING!!!!! I am recommending this organization to anyone that asks, and when my work schedule lightens up, I also plan to join myself.
Great instructors, very knowledgeable. Wonderful environment. Enjoyed my class very much. Hopefully will enroll in more classes soon with my husband. I know he’ll love it too.
Posted 3 years agoWe took our 4 year old here to have routine and actively added to his schedule. He has thrived and is excited to go to each class. Each of the teachers offer a different teaching to the kids and the staff at the front is very kind. We hope to be a part of TMA for years to come.
I enrolled my daughter at TMA almost 3 years ago and she absolutely LOVES it. I like the flexible class schedule and the family-friendly atmosphere. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We are happy to be part of the TMA family!
This school is amazing. The facility itself is huge and even has a workout area for parents to use while their children take class. The staff is great, always very friendly and helpful! I love that that the school is very family oriented and treats everyone as such. The owners have been in business since 1984 and I’m a firm believer that their hospitality, professionalism and knowledge is the reason why!
Amazing studio with great staff! Our family loves training here because they have something for all ages. We enjoy taekwondo training as a family and my husband and I love the Krav classes for a fun and practical adult workout.
I've been going here for 9 years and I've enjoyed every single moment spent here.
It’s a very informative place, Master Driscall is very kind and a good teacher among many of their other lovely teachers. Most importantly they are kind and accommodating, even someone who is handicapped like myself is able to join without injuring myself further with reasonable accommodations.
My boys love it here and so do I! Incredibly kind staff! My boys are learning quickly here and look forward to coming to class! So glad we found this place!
First came to TMA when my son was 4. He did a couple of the trial classes and he just wasn’t quite into it. Maturity level, attention span, not knowing his left from right, etc.. He is now 5 1/2 and has now asked to go back and has shown a lot of interest in martial arts and the first day of class was very impressive! We will be converting to a full membership. As a parent, the customer service is what really sold me. All while my son was NOT enrolled, staff members called me every couple of months just to check in and see if we were ready to come back yet. THAT is great marketing tactics and customer retention done right. I wish so many other businesses would implement tactics like this. We weren’t quite ready at the time, but I promised as soon as he had shown interest again that we would be back. Well as promised, we’re back! I love that they offer trial classes at a reasonable price because a lot of time we as parents have to try so many things just to find our kids interests and it can be expensive.
Looking for a great place for your children to learn martial arts. Stop and look no further. The most professional and knowledgeable school out there.
On the recommendation of a neighbor I brought my slightly troubled young person to look learn and listen. There are truly too many great things to list about the friendly and professional learning center that is TMA. What is most impressive is the 180 my child has done in school and at home in regards to behavior, self discipline and respect. This change can be directly linked back to our start with their Taekwondo classes. We are honored to be a part of the Tactical Martial Arts family.
My son has been going here for a year and now my other son has joined him. This place is amazing, the kids are learning so many things every class. The kids enjoy putting on their uniforms and all the activities in each class. They go twice a week, the times are very convenient and the place is very clean. I highly recommend this place to any family looking to have their kids in a well rounded program.
Awesome school. Great instructors. Amazing time at Black Belt camp.
I am so thankful for the leadership and dedication to excellence. I am better now than when I arrived. This is the place you need to train👊🏻🔥👍🏻😊🥋
Beautiful facility, had a fantastic weekend of training here, highly recommend for anyone who wants to dip their toes into martial arts
This is not only the best Martial arts facility I've ever trained in, but it has the most amazing staff and instructors. Training here is like joining another family. Everyone is so supportive and energized every day. If you're not here you are missing out!
We don’t attend this school but our 7-yr old attended a weekend-long camp recently at TMA. I really don’t have anything negative to say. Great facility, great staff, great instruction. He loved the camp.
Very good instructors, family friendly and fun environment. We love it.
Posted 6 years agoMy daughter has been a student here for 5 years and has earned a black belt in TKD. She also does private lessons for extra training. They give students 100% attention to ensure proper technique and form. It’s been nothing but a positive experience and she’s made many friends.
Posted 6 years agoThe staff always goes above and beyond to make sure the student is learning and having fun all while learning valuable life skills. This place is nothing short of amazing!!!
My son has been coming here since he was a tiny tiger and he is now a 1st degree Black belt. The staff is very friendly, professional and well trained. I also really enjoy attending the Krav Maga classes as well.
Great instructors, wonderful with children! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable!
I normally don’t post reviews but after my experience I just had to.Tactical Martial Arts is nothing short of amazing! Their staff is very knowledgeable in the Martial Arts standards and traditions. I love the fact the that they have been around the area for years and that they have a solid reputation for being one of the best around. I would highly recommend that anyone that is even slightly interested whether for yourself or for your kids to start your journey here.
Staff is wonderful! My daughter's have been going here for 6months now and LOVE IT! They're 7&8 and full of energy! Each instructor is extremely patient with them while they teach the basics but also encourage them to focus and be disciplined. I'm so grateful we found this place!
Wonderful staff. Everyone is knowledgeable, kind, and well rounded. Well kept facilities, I highly recommend. Very good with all types of children.
Absolute wonderful place for kids, great family environment and staff is wonderful with kids and adults. Absolutely love everything about the program they offer.
I can’t say enough about how amazing this team is. As former military I am extremely picky as to who would instruct my son on numerous styles of self defense and competition. Upon arrival I was greeted countless time and offered to observe a class going on. The patience and positive re-enforcement shown to the students and par none. Not to mention extensive parent involvement. After watching I was happy but after talking to a manager named patience “ she knows her stuff as far a martial arts awards all over her uniform” I was beyond happy and she broke down the prices and my son and her had a great connection. Ever since that day I would not trust my son to any other martial arts academy. A plus+++ hands down!
I’m a big supporter of the Leadership Program. My son has developed skills that he will carry through out his life and career. I strongly recommend T M A and theTaekwondo program.
My son and I have attended TMA over the last 2 years and we love this establishment and everyone who works here is AWESOME! They are patient and kind. I have an active son and they have always been available, provided instruction when he misbehaved, and never showed any indifference. Ms. Patience, Mrs. Droege, and Mr. Scott are the instructors I interact with the most and I have the utmost respect for them. I have and will continue to refer any and everyone to this location.
Started here over 2 years ago, mainly because my youngest daughter was having issues with behavior at school. Since joining her behavior has greatly improved. Both her and my oldest daughter are about to be black belt. My nephew and I have started and we enjoy every moment of it. Amazing instructors that help the students learn what they need for self confidence and self defense. And the remodeled facility is awesome.
Tactical Martial arts is an awesome Martial Arts school. Three generations have attended this school! Myself since 1992, my children and now my grandchildren. For me this speaks volumes about the owners and staff.
Love these guys always very helpful when issues need to be addressed and have always been very respectful of me and my little brother who has been attending for years. They are always treating me and my family with great respect along with many other families that I have seen their over the years. Thank you guys for everything you do for my little brother and myself. Top notch instructors
TMA has friendly well trained staff and great facilities. We enjoy the classes and day camps offered. Our son has been training with TMA for over three years.
I could not be happier with the experience my daughter is having here. The instructors are knowledgeable and really care about the students. They treat the students like family.
Not only is TMA's state of the art facility amazing but so is their staff who not only shows passion for the sport but their students as well. Every time walk through the front door I am welcomed with warm smiles and enthusiasm.
My sister and I have both been going to this school for about 3 years, and have both earned our black belts and continue to work on our next level. Let me say that me and my sister are both ADHD and taking classes here have helpes us both with this condition. With having attention issues it can be hard for us to focus at times, but we are able to stay focused most nights and work through are forms, which currently has 82 moves. Last year, my sister and I did so well being at this school, that we both finished in the top 10 in districts, which is out of 8 states I think. I love going to school here, and hope to continue coming here, the staff is like family to us.
My daughter had been going here since August 2017. The entire staff as well as Mr and Mrs Droege make us feel so welcome and part of their family. My daughter has a heart condition and has some limitations. They are always very conscientious of this and are extremely caring. I always feel comfortable dropping her off for class and know she is in wonderful hands. They always keep me updated and well informed of everything going on. We were blessed to find such a wonderful establishment full of genuine staff.
This is an awesome martial arts facility! I have been coming here for about a year, and they continue to blow me away. They treat all the children like family. They are so patient with them, and even teach them manners.( yes mam, no sir) I would recommend this place to anyone.
We been a part of the Family for about a year now and it's been amazing. The staff is so much like family celebrating each milestone with us, helping our son to learn so much, and giving him confidence. We are constantly told how polite our son is everywhere we go he responds 'Yes ma'am, No sir'. The desk staff and the teachers are very dedicated to the students and their learning of new skills!!!
Our 9 yr old grandson has been attending for almost a year now. The staff is super and the teachers are wonderful and have loads of patience. I would highly recommend this school.
Great school for kids and adults .awesome new building. Friendly environment. Highly recommended
Todd provided very professional self defense/awareness training to our daughter prior to her starting college. Each session was very thorough, organized and relevant. We felt, along with our daughter, that she was better equipped for many possible situations (untoward advances, car problems, medical emergencies) that she had better knowledge and preparedness to handle.
My daughter has had an overall wonderful experience at this school. The teachers are kind and patient and the staff is super! My daughter has had a desire to try taikwondo for quite a while, but because of some balance and coordination issues I had been hesitant. We came to the school and explained her situation. Everyone has been supportive and caring and many of her issues are now improving significantly because of the taikwondo! The most significant change has been in my daughter, her confidence is SOARING! Thank you Droege's!!
My daughter and I have truly enjoyed our experience so far with this school. My daughter has shown nothing but a positive attitude in regards to her lessons. She has excelled and the staff have grown to be like family. As a parent, I highly recommend this school and my daughter is constantly bringing her friends. Thank you and we look forward to years to come!
I love this school. Nothing more to say..... krav Maga
My son has come to understand that there are consequences for his actions. When he was not following instructions at school and at home he soon learned that he will pay a price at karate. His belt was taken away twice and he had to earn it back by doing extra work at practice. Because of this, he has had to watch his classmates advance to higher belts at the normal rate. Whereas, his advancement has been slowed (learning and growing from experience). Overall I can see him maturing and becoming cognizant of his decisions. He still has some ways to go. But with continued participation and guided instructions, he should develop into a respected and respectful youngster on the verge of adolescence. I would like to see the instructors be firmer with the younger students, including my son. Overall, discipline is the key to success.
I will start by saying this review is only about the Tae Kwon Do program. The school does have an awesome facility. The people are nice. I know they offer other service, and for parents that just want a place for there kids to be involved in something. This can be a good place. My 2 stars is because I trained many years in Tae Kwon do, and now my kids wanted to join. This school significantly lacks from what I saw in experienced instructing. We went for over a month of classes. Every class was same thing for ALL levels of belt rank. Instructors are nice, but all training is watch as I do and do it. Maybe 2x did I ever see someone stop and correct or instruct on proper technique. No training on basics. Kicks, punch, stance. Nothing. Hit the bag is all that was thought. Not even how to do a proper kick. How do you do a round house kick. It is just do a round house kick. After only a few weeks my kids were already asked to test for next belt. At the belt test every belt level did the same things? How do you specify the difference in ranks if white belts do the same thing as a green belt to test? And I may be picky, but I have never seen someone do a single wrap belt tie and cut the belt to fit?? YES there is a art and meaning to the way you tie your belt in martial arts. Also what traditional martial arts school has a camo belt? This was an expensive lesson learned.
Let me start with the positives - the staff is kind to the children. There are workable time slots for most class levels. However, our experience there has been that the primary interest is in raking in dollars vs actually seeing children learn. We enrolled our three children at the steep price tag of $200/month due to small class size and what seemed like attentive teachers. As soon as we had been going a couple of months, the classes grew to unmanageable sizes, with kids running around and the teachers unable to focus the group, engage the students or effectively teach new material. Earning a new belt is simply a matter of forking over $50/each kid every 8 weeks, on top of the already steep monthly cost. Did I mention the 60-day cancellation policy? Still in progress fighting this (I did sign the paperwork, although who could know the switch and bait they would pull!) $400 they want for zero instruction taught the last 7 weeks we took class. Boo! I suggest finding someplace cleaner, more organized and less interested in bilking hard working parents for every penny they can while kids learn what they could have picked up from Kung Fu Panda.
When you try to leave they require a 30 day notice, and if that 30th day lands on the next month they charge you for that too. Additionally, I had to have a block placed by my credit card company because I continued to get charged an additional month despite having confirmation email that the charges would stop. I am not the only person who had this experience.
Posted 1 year agoSo there we were, Jun 10th our first visit to this establishment. We walked in the TK1 class had already started. My daughter (13 yrs) and I took a sit close to the front counter and just observed the class. TK1 now complete they soon move into TK2. NOW mind you no one has spoken to us or asked us any questions. Yeah there was only one instructor, but the senior class started, they could've stretched and warmed up on their own while you conversed with some potential students with pasted experience.
Posted 7 years agoMy son attended the after school program at this facility for the past 2 years. He has been on medication for Epilepsy and ADHD for some time. Side affects are mood swings which they were aware of and only had to experience this 3-4 times since he's been attending (only 2 this school year). Now let me add he's only 9, and mostly stays to himself. So a situation occurred Monday and for whatever reason he had another meltdown. Now before this occurred the staff (Patience and other instructors) would tell me on a consistent basis how much progress he's made and how well he's been doing since the beginning of this school year. Now back to the meltdown that occurred Monday....so I was told that he was crying, and kicking lockers and was out of control and they were unable to calm him down. So of course I said..."I'm on my way now, but I work an hour away and it will take awhile to get there especially in rush hour traffic." Everyone in Atlanta knows this very well. So of course, I left immediately but traffic was horrible as always....but what can I do but drive as fast as I can (without killing myself and others) to get to my child as quickly as possible. On the way I receive ANOTHER call asking were I was with an attitude as if any of this was within my means, (and like I knew that today would be a day where something like this happened and I have to leave work earlier than normal). I get there and basically I'm told he can't continue in the program because of today, and it seems like he's gotten worse (LIES)!!! I guess Patience didn't relay that to the owner or she just didn't care. Honestly it sounds like they just didn't want to accommodate a child with special needs. Just a few weeks ago I was told how much better he's gotten and just how well he's been doing overall this school year. See the owner is never there, and just so happen to be there on this day. The second time this school year he has a meltdown and he's out??? Would they so easily kick out a white kid? Probably NOT...but Luckily I had started to search for other alternatives and this turned out to be a blessing because all they want is money. They forced me to get this insurance and everything when they new all alone they would kick him out. The first day back from winter break and he can't come back??? No notice or anything...but thank GOD for divine intervention and putting things together for me before this went down. I was borderline done with this place and had already found a new location for him to start in a couple of weeks. They call you and want you to pick up your child for the smallest reasons and still want you to pay full price. Oh yeah....and even though he couldn't come back after Monday, they charged me $55 for one day. So to my parents that have a special needs child, this is NOT the place for your child. It's really about the money for them and NOT about helping your child overcome anything.
