I first started training at Stout back in 2014 with some prior experience in BJJ. I must say it’s one of my favorite places to be most days! I walked in for the training and prestige of the day and stayed for the friends, coaching, and curriculum. I consider Stout my extended family. Stout is awesome for your families as well. I have 3 children two of whom have trained at Stout for 4-5 years each, my third child isn’t old enough quite yet but she will definitely join the team.
Posted 5 months agoI have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Stout PGH - Monroeville/East since 2020. This gym has everything you could want in a BJJ gym. Stout PGH - Monroeville/East has a welcoming atmosphere, a great group of people, knowledgeable instructors, and an engaging curriculum. The variety of classes, from fundamentals to advanced, ensures that everyone is appropriately challenged on the mats, regardless of their experience. If you want a fun, challenging, and rewarding Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience, then Stout PGH - Monroeville/East is the place to go. I would not want to train anywhere else.
Posted 5 months agoI have been training with Stout (Muay Thai/Striking) for roughly 4 months now and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have lightly trained at other facilities before and have had various different experiences. I had VERY little experience so I would classify myself as a beginner. I had the same apprehensions everyone has starting something new. "Am I going to get beat up? Am I going to fit in? What if I embarrass myself?" I have never had an experience as welcoming as I did with Stout. My class has all skill levels and ages. We got young girls and guys with fight experience to older adults with no experience that maybe just want to have a workout or get some self defense experience in a safe environment. No matter the skill level, there are no egos and you are not just a free punching bag or test dummy. The coaches progress you when they think you are ready. All coaches/trainers (Vince, Brody, Lucas, Rachel) have plenty of knowledge and fight experience and are passionate about seeing every participant get better. Overall, if you are looking for a gym where you can feel comfortable at any experience level you would be entering at, I wouldn't hesitate to join or at least try. My only regret is not starting sooner.
Posted 4 months agoI started training at Stout after competing in college wrestling to pursue MMA. Over the 2 and a half years I’ve been here I can say everyone has become family. It’s a great atmosphere for both kids and adults you are surrounded by like minded healthy people with the same interests as you. The staff and coaches are amazing and patient not only with the kids but instructing adults that are not familiar with martial arts. Whether you are a first day or someone looking in a career in martial arts this place is for you.
Posted 5 months agoI've been training jiujitsu since 2011 and been with Warren at Stout PGH Team Renzo Gracie since 2012. Top notch experienced instructors always improving their craft and great people. Vince has built a wonderful culture and a training environment that is excellent for new people, families, and has sessions for competitors as well. Great variety of people of sizes, ages, and genders and overall supportive of a variety of goals. Wether you want to just play, get a great workout, compete, do MMA, or better defend yourself this is the place to do it.
