Great crew of people, Instructor is very laid back and knowledgeable and the gym is very learning oriented. Everyone was very willing to help with any technique you might be struggling with. If you're in the area, new to the sport or been doing a long time, id reccomend stopping in and giving this gym a try.

My experience with Square One Jiu Jitsu has been fantastic! The instructor is friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to learn from. The other students have been fun to work with and help me learn along the way, and I love the progress I'm seeing in just over a month! I've never done any type of martial art or combat sport so I am 100% new to this, and I have felt supported the entire way. I highly suggest you give Square One in Lee's Summit a try!

Just started recently. Great instructor that has a lot of passion and excitement for Jiu jitsu. Great people and environment that is very welcoming. They make it easy for those with any experience level to come in and have fun and learn. I've been having a blast!

Coach Heidi and Professor Josh do a fantastic job breaking down specific details of how to execute on the mats while maintaining safety at all levels. They are friendly, direct and playful in their instruction during kids classes. Highly recommend the kids program here! Thank you, Square One for creating an awesome spot for our kids to learn self defense and practice discipline 🙌

What a wonderful place to train while I was in Kansas City for a conference. The 6 a.m class worked out great with my schedule. The Professor was really knowledgeable.

My children did a trial class. All came away with raving reviews, and now we're going twice a week! They loved Coaches Josh and Heidi. Both coaches did good meeting the kids where they were and helping them with success and failure! It's a great work out but is also working on discipline. Highly recommend for all children regardless of athletic ability!

I'm new to the Jiu-jitsu world and Josh has welcomed me into the fold while ensuring a safe and fun learning environment. I decided to start training after finding out I have high cholesterol and after a month my levels are creeping back to normal and I've lost some weight in the process. Give it a shot!

Great guy, awesome instructor! I met Josh back in 2010 and had the privilege to train with him. Josh is very knowledgeable and passionate about jiu jitsu! I highly recommend square 1 for anyone wanting to either start or continue their journey in learning jiu jitsu!

I have known the instructor since childhood. He has never done anything 50% always 110%. Jiu Jitsu has helped mold him into the amazing instructor, father, and friend he is today! I am sure every lesson and principle Jiu Jitsu has polished in him he shares with each student because he knows the fruits it yielded in his life. I would trust my son under his guidance.

I’m new to Jiu Jitsu and this place is perfect for me. Everyone works to help lower belts improve. Of course part of the process is accepting that you’ll have to learn from losses, but everyone makes sure you understand what you could be doing better. It’s a great combination of learning techniques in a class environment and then rolling to get live experience. It’s the best exercise I’ve ever done. Highly recommend anybody who is looking to get in shape or just learn something new try this out.

I met Josh at another academy and had the chance to get to know him. He’s been very welcoming and has helped me understand Jiu Jitsu at a higher level. I stopped by to train with him a couple days ago and got in a good workout and he challenged my skills while giving me advice on how I can improve. 5 star experience.
