I dropped in for a BJJ class while I was in Winnipeg and the team and Socius was welcoming. Professor Randall is very knowledgeable and the facilities are clean and spacious. I highly recommend checking out this gym when you are in town!
Posted a month agoSupportive, safe environment with instructors who know a lot about BJJ and how best to teach it. Nice mix of classes based on different levels and goals. The students I've met and rolled with there are welcoming and friendly. Socius has a strong community and a good vibe.
Posted a year agoIn city visiting and brought GI. Prof AJ Scales recommended Prof Randal Boiteau’s gym. Reached out to see whether any training opportunities and received quick reply with details and invite. Enjoyed a welcoming group of members and thoroughly enjoyed open mat and a class instructed by Prof Randal. Thank you Socius BJJ. If in Winnipeg or visiting I can recommend training. Roll to be free. 👋👊
Posted 7 months agoThe most important thing about this gym that it takes care of its members. Everyone wants to see each other succeed and there are no egos. This makes it a safe place to learn and succeed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The Gi, 35+ Gi, No Gi, and Wrestling instruction is top notch. The instructors provide modifications to the moves to fit the mobility constraints of its members. Finally, the facility is clean and well-kept and there are two fully enclosed shower stalls to ensure privacy. I highly recommend this gym.
Posted a year agoI came from Norway and was looking to train at a gym during my 6 month stay in Winnipeg. I tried some different once in town before deciding to continue to train at socious. This is why I picked it: From the very first day I came in, I felt incredibly welcomed by the instructers and trainingpartners. Costumer service is absolutely incredible. Organized and super quick. Flawless app to see updated schedule and booking classes. Sharing Bjj interest outside the matts by following the whatsapp group. Sanatized facilities which they clean after each class. Super big matt. Having 5 blackbelts, numerous color belts setts the level, a few others have. But the best part is the relaxed atmosphere. No extra push ups for being late, no black belt worshipping from the students, no pressure to buy merchandise. Just learning high level jiu jitsu with friends with lots of humor, friendship and fellowship. Thats because of the coaches setting a standard of making it fun; who are extremly passionate about the art and about teaching it. Attention to details, always taking the time to explain and being helpful during and after class. I met so many nice people that I can stay in touch with, and learned so much bjj that I can bring back and share with my local gym in Oslo. Thank you Randal for making this place a welcoming and warm place. I definetly will be coming back whenever I visit. Also, that they have a place for us over 35+ is very much appreciated. Both for the comradery but also for learning how to smash the 20 year old athlets who tries to berimbolo you all the time. Thanks Jeff, Ed and Jason! And for all you beginners, the one on one class with Kevin is a absolut must! A safe place to learn the fundamentals in a slow but detailed way, without the pressure of sparring. Something I tried to come back to once in a while. Thank you Kevin!
