Is a great place to train BJJ, went there for the open mat on Sunday becase my brother go there. The coach is nice and community make you feel as part of a family. Super recommend.
The facility is very clean, the coaches are knowledgeable and approachable, and the people there are friendly (no egos!). I highly recommend this place if you’re wanting to start BJJ

I highly recommend this place for families! I have two children enrolled that are on two different ends of the spectrum. My son is very artsy, musical, and likes video games (quite sedentary) and my daughter is a competitive gymnast (very athletic). The coaches foster discipline, confidence and physical stamina that both my children, despite their differences, have benefitted from. Additionally the environment is clean and very welcoming. All the coaches are very patient and respectful. I appreciate that Coach Theo includes practical use of his teachings not only on the floor but off the floor in real life situations as well. I also appreciate that merit is based on performance and not on time spent. Stripes and belts aren't just given out based soley on how many hours you put in. It really gives students a sense of accomplishment that they have really earned that advancement.
This gym lives by its creed, “United as a Family”. What a very welcoming , intuitive and family oriented gym. Our daughter, a competitive gymnast, has been enjoying her classes here every week rolling with both boys and girls. The coaches take their time to spend time with each student to guide them during class. Everyone gets equal attention and they are first name basis with all kids. Take a trial class and you will see what I mean. Even as parents, we look forward to going to class and watching our kid’s progress. All classes have been the perfect balance of being easy to understand and difficult enough to engage our kid to be challenged. As coach Theo says, there is no winner in each class, we thank our partner for making it hard for us to be able to learn how to overcome the challenge. The experienced kids teach the new kids during the practice and they move up learning together, which is what we have seen each time. Highly recommended gym run by a great family and other coaches!!
I cannot say enough good things about not only Coach Theo but his son as well. I have no previous BJJ training and Coach Theo's approach to teaching was phenomenal! It was clear to see he is passionate about BJJ and about creating a positive environment for learning and growth! I would absolutely recommend Kimura BJJ Winnipeg to anyone who is interested in learning and being taught by knowledgeable, caring coaches! Thank you Coach Theo and young Theo Jr for such a fantastic learning experience!
I was in Winnipeg to visit a friend and got invited last minute to do a trial class, from somebody who has never done any martial art the Kimura BJJ team were very friendly and helpful in teaching me. I could feel it was a place of learning, discipline, good training, and good people. Highly recommended to do a trial class and see how you feel - you’d be surprised at what you can achieve!
We were in town for the UFC fights and needed a place to train, and Kimura Winnipeg was exactly what we hoped for. Theo, Ioannis, and their family welcomed us with open arms and treated us like one of their own. The facility is beautiful, exceptionally clean, and has a great atmosphere. I highly recommend Kimura to anyone in the area, whether you’re an experienced grappler or stepping onto the mats for the first time. Amazing instructors, but even better people.
