Started off my daughter first then I had to try it for myself! The gym is clean and efficient. Professor Bruno, coach Johnny, Coach Rafael, Coach Angel, Lika and trainer Rafael have been nothing but accommodating and welcoming to me and my daughter. I’m 5 classes in and all the upper belts have been very helpful. It can be intimidating at first, but just like starting anything new, you just have to jump in and go for it. I’m excited for this new challenge and journey into the world of BJJ and I couldn’t have been more happier with these group of people!

As a BJJ and MMA fan since the 90s, always wanted to try BJJ. I joined this martial arts school in late 2022 and since joining they treated me as if I belonged, it's like a big family where everyone is working towards getting better and helping you get better. The atmosphere and vibe are contagious. All the students are very willing to teach you things and the coaches/professors are very knowledgeable and very thorough. This has been by far my best decision of 2022. I am getting better every day, getting more stamina, balance and losing weight. Thank you Soca BJJ!!

I’ve been training for a long time. I currently hold a third degree black belt in BJJ. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, Professor Bruno possesses excellent technique & teaching abilities. I spent three months looking for a jujitsu gym that I could call home. I visited four gyms in that time span. Even though this gym was the furthest from my house. I chose this one because when I came for my free trial class, they treated me as if I belonged, the atmosphere was so contagious. I wanted to come back. All the students are very nice and welcoming and willing to teach you things and the coaches/professors are very knowledgeable and very thorough. This has been by far my best decision of 2023. A wonderful BJJ studio. My daughter truly enjoys her classes and looks forward to attending them. The instructors are skilled and caring. My only regret is not starting her here sooner. The new location is also spacious and easy to access.

I regret not finding Soca BJJ several years ago. Bruno and Lika create a welcoming environment with a great sense of community. I've found the BJJ instruction top-notch, and the friends I've made and the community helps keep me motivated to continue to train. I highly recommend Soca to anyone looking to learn self-defense, get in shape, or to just make new friends.
I loved my previous academy because the of the professor’s approach and style of teaching, the family like atmosphere. I did not expect to find anything like that again after moving across the country and being forced to find a new gym. But right from the beginning, Soca impressed me. Fast communication, answering all my questions, and inviting me in for a free trial class. Making it easy to signup, and get started. The professors knew me by name on my first class, and it instantly made me feel at home. After a few months on the mats, I just signed up my 10 y/o for junior classes. Soca is our family now, and we love this place!

By far the best martial arts school for adults and kids in San Diego. Friendly, professional, clean, and tons of class times to fit everyone’s schedule. If you’re looking to learn self defense, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is it! Professor Bruno is one of the best and you’ll feel like family right away. Plus I’ve lost 30 lbs since joining, woohoo!
I have been training here for about a year. This was my second gym I have joined and I am here to stay. Professor Bruno is a very knowledgeable teacher and coach in the class. The gym is very kind friendly and family oriented. I have even brought my 9 month old daughter when I have trained. The classes are all big enough to get enough variation when rolling, but small enough so there is room on the mat. Soca BJJ is a very well rounded gym with a lot to offer. I highly recommend going to this gym.

Amazing gym. This is the second BJJ gym our family has been a part of in the area and we are here to stay. Professor Bruno is an outstanding instructor and amazing with kids. There are also 2 other black belts in the gym who assist with teaching classes. You will not find another gym in the immediate area with someone as experienced and as good of an instructor as Bruno, nor will you find a gym where there are 3 black belts on the mats instructing at the same time. If you have children that are interested in trying out BJJ, this is the best kids program in the area.

Amazing place that teaches great martial arts for both self-defense and just building general health. Both the coaches and students are helpful and friendly. As some one who works in tech and sits in front of computer screens all day, there are very few things I persisted doing. But I am determined to continued training in Soca BJJ for as long as I can keep going!
The classes are really fun and Professor Bruno is so good and very encouraging. My son didn't want to go to the classes at the beginning, because Jiu Jitsu was challenge. But now he loves the classes. Thank you Bruno and Lika!

Bruno, Lika and the other professors are very dedicated not only to BJJ but also to creating a communal environment where everyone feels welcomed. The professors are just as eager to share their knowledge as they are to learn from their students. They are very helpful on and off the mat and as my first BJJ experience, I learned so much from them. I don't have a kid there but kids and their parents seemed to enjoy their experience as well. My family have been members of SOCA BJJ since November 2020. We were looking for a martial art/positive hobby for our son and instantly were happy with Professor Bruno and his business partner/Wife Lika’s teaching dynamic. They have created a place where my son can learn respect and hard work, while also maintaining a fun family atmosphere. I now participate in the morning Fitness classes, Muay Thai classes, and recently joined jiu jitsu with my husband. Each class has helped me feel stronger and healthier. As a woman I love how much self defense I have learned. I have gained so much confidence and knowledge I don’t believe I would have found elsewhere. Highly recommend giving SOCA BJJ a try!
We visited Soca BJJ about 2 years ago and have been members since! We first came because my son, who was in karate, wanted a different martial arts experience. He was hooked immediately—and so were we! It’s bona fide Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Professor Bruno and his business partner/wife, Lika, do an amazing job of creating a family friendly environment. The other coaches and professors are so knowledgeable and amazing as well. My young daughter watched one class and immediately wanted to join. Professor Bruno’s approach for the kids is a great blend of fun and technique. I’m glad to know that my daughter is having fun while learning how to defend herself. My husband and I also joined, and adult classes are a great way to develop strength and flexibility. What’s also really nice is that In addition to BJJ they offer other fun but intense martial arts based classes (like Muay Thai) and self defense seminars, as well as functional training. No need for any other gym membership. I am so grateful we found them!
The best Brazilian Jiu jitsu school in San Diego. Third degree black belt Professor Bruno relocated from Brazil and is an amazing teacher for all ages. The students and vibe of the school is relaxed, open and friendly for adults and kids. Professor Bruno is hands on and teaches and rolls everyday. It is so much fun for me and my 3 kids. It's a family as much as it is a BJJ school.
We love Soca Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Rancho Bernardo. All 3 of my kids have joined now, including my husband. From my 11 year old to my toddler they all love it. Professor Bruno is so great with the children. I get to watch all the classes now, and I can say Professor Bruno and Lika (his wife and partner) have true love for all the kids. He tailors learning for all ages, making the Teens Jiu Jitsu class just as fun as the younger Toddler Jiu Jitsu class, which they call Mini grapplers. He has found a way to keep the attention of the kids while teaching them authentic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. My kids are healthier, more active, more respectful, and they have made great friends since joining. It’s a family environment, and they have really created a community not just a business. You can tell this is a passion for them, not just a business.
Was the best choice for my family! I was looking for a self defense program to my kids and found Soca Brazilian jiu jitsu the best place in 4s, Rancho Bernardo and Poway area. They are great with my kids and me and my husband ending joining as well. Great environment to make friends and learn martial arts!

Soca BJJ of San Diego is absolutely fantastic. This academy is ran by a husband and wife team. Bruno, a 3rd degree black belt is highly skilled and great at demonstrating proper jiu-jitsu techniques. Our 5-year old boy has been going for over a year and we noticed a huge improvement in his mood, confidence, general demeanor and temperament. The academy is so great, I decided to join the adults class as well. Turns out, the academy has a lot of father/son or daughter members. Great place!
It is easy to say, I can't say enough about this academy! It instantly felt like "home" to me. The gym is full of welcoming people and the sense of community (family) is very strong starting with its owners Bruno and Lika. The levels of learning from young kids to adults is awesome. Professors Bruno and Arlan take their time explaining and breaking down moves step by step. They are very patient with all of the students and it is very encouraging! As soon as I leave I can't wait to go back!

I hit the jackpot with Soca BJJ!!! Ive been going here for 4 months. I’m addicted! The lead professor (Bruno) is excellent at teaching moves/techniques so they are easy to understand. All the instructors make it a fun and it is a relaxed atmosphere. They watch as you drill and help with any problems you’re having. The class sizes are not too big where you feel like you get left out, but are big enough so you have different types of people to roll with. I highly recommend coming here!!!

Soca Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been amazing for my son. I am glad this place was recommend to us from a friend. Professor Bruno is amazing with the kids. Teaching the skills of Jui Jitsu but also instilling many life skills like honor and respect. They offer a great introductory class for free to see if you, the family or your child would be interested. First class and you will love it. They also offer a free Gi upon signing up and have very competitive rate from another local BJJ studios. A great variety of classes and times to accommodate the whole family. My 3 kids absolutely LOVE this place! Professor Bruno is so patient with them. He is very knowledgeable about the sport and takes his time to make sure the kids learn the moves properly. I’ve been coming to Soca BJJ San Diego for about 4 months, and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever started doing. I was a complete beginner, but the coaches, staff, and other students all made me feel so welcome. There is a wide range of student skill levels, but the instructors are all patient, encouraging experts of BJJ. Whether you are a brand new beginner or a black belt, whether you are looking for new friendships or strictly to train and improve, Soca BJJ offers a low-stress training environment where you can decide your own level of intensity, and where you are encouraged and challenged to grow without ever feeling pressured. I would strongly recommend this gym to anyone, both to take advantage of the free introductory class, but (especially for new beginners) to take advantage of the intro offer of unlimited classes for the first six weeks after signing up. It will be challenging in the beginning (like learning a new language) but as soon as some pieces start to “click,” you will become addicted to the exercise, the learning, the competition, and the amazing positivity you feel while leaving a class sweaty and smiling. Stop debating and just go!!
Such a great studio. they take you at your current level, identify your goals and help you meet them. The instructor and workout mates are all very friendly. The focus is on technique, which is what I was looking for.
This school is great. It’s the third BJJ school I’ve attended and is by far the best. There is a feeling of family with the other practitioners there. Prof. Bruno and Prof. Arlan are both very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Classes have a nice structure with a solid warm-up, then drilling, then sparring. They manage a nice balance between rigor and fun. Soca BJJ in Rancho Bernardo is a relatively new location so most of the students are white belts, so it’s welcoming to other students new to the practice. Of course, there’s a few higher belts too, so even the best will have someone to practice with.
I started training at Soca BJJ about a month ago. The environment is friendly and very family oriented and everyone makes you want to always get better. Professor Bruno is the best and pushes you to always be your best both on and off the mat. He is awesome with kids too!! Couldn't be happier with choosing Soca BJJ San Diego as my home gym!
