Smash BJJ has been such a positive part of our family’s life. Our kids have trained at the Deer Park location for six years and we recently spent time at the Spokane Valley location. The experience was just as good. Like our home gym in Deer park, coaches are patient, encouraging, and know how to speak kid. Can't say enough about the program- its helped our kids build confidence, and friendships off the mats as well. If you are looking for a place where your child can grow in skill characterand self discipline, Smash is the place to be.

ADAM SMITH'S Jiu Jitsu lineage is traced directly back to MARCELO ALONSO, my son who is 9 now and I have been training with him for 4 years. Adam Smith has spent his entire life training martial arts and has fought hard as a pro-fighter. EVEN GETTING BACK IN THE CAGE AFTER HE HAD DOUBLE HIP REPLACEMENT SURGERY. If you're looking for a gym and a set of instructors who can help you smash new goals and overcome obstacles his gyms are it. The confidence helps your kids overcome hurdles for the rest of their life. That being said it's also a ton of fun!!!

Adam Smith has built a culture that thrives - whether you are an adult who is curious about what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu entails and want to have your first experience, a seasoned competitive athlete, or a parent looking to give their child an outlet for incredible self-confidence, strength, balance and discipline. I have personally run this entire spectrum with Professor Smith guiding my family and myself. As a working professional, it’s added an incredible dynamic to both my personal life and our family life with all three of my children and I speaking a common language and sharing a common knowledge that is very unique and very empowering. It is not about “fighting“ - but much more of a choose your own adventure with Professor Smith being able to intelligently guide you through the process of reaching your personal goals, whether that is simply learning a new and valuable skill or progressing through competition. There is a significant amount of motivation and work ethic built, yet there is no “pushing.“ This takes a significant amount of social and emotional intelligence, which is displayed by all the coaches on staff. I’m always amazed at the kids classes and how the coaches are able to maintain the attention and build discipline in the kids present. It is truly part of the culture, and sometimes more effective than with the parents are able to do themselves! If you are thinking about Jiu Jitsu, this is absolutely the place to try. If you’re a competitive Jiu Jitsu athlete, the remarkable professional mixed martial arts and Jiu Jitsu competitive background for all of the coaches, including Adam Smith, shows in the competition preparation. There are even specific competition classes if that is your goal. Most importantly, if you were giving your child a gift of exposing them to resilient Jiu Jitsu, I could not think of a better environment for them to get their exposure, learn and grow. This has been one of the greatest gifts I have given my own children.

Amazing place to workout and have fun! I enjoy the Mauy Thai program and seeing the results from being consistent. The owner Adam is always improving the space and gives back to the DP community. The new boxing ring in the gym is a great addition for sparring. The gym offers classes 5 days a week plus open mat times. I’ve gained so much since signing up including family and life long friendships

Been a member of Smash BJJ for over 5 years great community lots of options for defense, grappling and fighting. Love how there's multiple locations one in Deer Park, Spokane valley, and Airway. Adams Smith is the most dedicated martial artist I know and wants to make sure everyone in this community is taught extremely well and keeps the environment family friendly and productive. This is the perfect gym to bring your child to for Jiu Jitsu. It teaches the kids structure, respect, confidence, self defense, and self control, while still enjoying themselves. We have been going for a few years now and love the coaches. They take pride in each and every child that attends, and they are GREAT role models. Coach Smith and Coach Noah are amazing! Professor Adam is a first class Martial Artist who has built an amazing culture from very humble beginnings and all three of his academies are full of great people!!! He LOVES Martial Arts, Training, Competing and Teaching!!! Adam leads from the front and is a Huge asset to our community, serving as a volunteer EMT, creating a Non-Profit to benefit under privelaged children and running for public office in hopes of making a better community.

I decided to try Jiu-Jitsu a few months ago, and I am so grateful that I started my journey at Smash. I did not have a background in martial arts (I didn’t even watch UFC), yet I was welcomed by Adam and the other students on day one. Adam has built an incredible community of support and curates his classes for students of different skill levels and goals. Each class is not only a great workout but also mentally stimulating and fun. Adam and the other instructors helped me find something that I love outside of work, and I just cannot get enough!

In my opinion, it's very cool when a person has a business that he loves, which captures him, he is ready to engage in a hobby as much as he wants and gets joy and pleasure from it. I admire these people 🙌 I could not find any better martial art academy for my 3 year old son 👌

My children have been going to the Smash Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school for over 3 years now and I couldn't ask for a better experience for them. The staff is educated, experienced, positive, helpful, and dedicated. The owner, Adam Smith, puts his blood, sweat and tears into his business. He even makes sure to coach a few days per week at each of the three locations, to make sure his attention is divided properly into all of the schools. Love this school and I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else!

The head coach (Adam) is a monster mma and BJJ competitor at high levels, and is dedicated to his students, whose needs range from law enforcement to women’s self defense, casual lifestyle improvement or competition BJJ. Smash BJJ is a wonderful, welcoming, family friendly academy with fantastic instruction, helpful staff, and an all around great community. My children, myself and my husband all train with Professor Smith and have grown to love not only the art and sport of Jiu Jitsu but the community and friendships only a great program can foster. Prices are reasonable especially for the amount of training available at the three locations. This gym is amazing. I'm from Northern California, but have dropped in on Spokane Valley BJJ on a few occasions now during the holidays when I'm up there visiting family. Adam is very welcoming to all students, regardless of level of experience. Further, he pays close attention to what every student is doing, ensuring that they're executing whatever the move of the day is correctly. For a beginner, walking in to a BJJ gym for the first time can be a bit intimidating, but Adam and his students have created an atmosphere that is fun, collaborative, exciting and motivating. I am grateful to Adam for giving me an introduction and view in to the art that I did not have before -- one that I'm excited about and motivated by. He genuinely makes it fun. As an added bonus, the facilities are also very clean. Even if you have zero experience in the art, if you're considering picking it up, this place is for you. If you have a lot of experience and are looking to get in a few rolls or brush up on a few moves, this place is for you. I'm looking forward to returning when I'm in town again.

This is an amazing place to learn and train. Adam Smith is a black belt in BJJ under Marcelo Alonso. Adam is also a black belt in modern Kenpo Karate under Professor Skip Hancock. He has been training martial arts for over 25 years. A professional MMA fighter and Boxer. He has endless experience to share and is very easy to work with. he is eager to see his students growth and wants to be part of the development in as many stages of training as possible. With the help of local sports physiology and nutrition experts, some world renown, Adam is taking his gym and coaching to another level that most local gyms do not offer. The cost for the experience and programs offered is a great deal. I attend multiple classes weekly and have my nephew signed up for "The Little Dragons" class. Ages 3 and up can attend this school. There are classes and options for all skill levels and with any particular goal in mind. You can learn BJJ, boxing, kickboxing, Kenpo Karate, and tie it all together with dynamic MMA classes. I highly recommend a visit. it's great for the mind the body and very stress relieving. I have so much fun hitting mits with gloves on.

Edit: This review was empty, what's all this random shade for? I got kicked out for giving you a 4-star review, not a poor attitude. I still have screenshots of you insulting me (a 14-year-old kid at the time) on Messenger and still have a screenshot of the original review. You kicked me out because I didn't rate you 10/10. I never insulted you, I just said you could feel rude. Also, I messaged you 4 times to try to prove to you none of those accounts are mine, and you never responded. My guess is you don't believe it yourself. This is childish, Adam. Edit2: Here's the proof that you kicked me out for the review, not behavior, mate. I would not personally trust my children to Adam “Smash” Smith. We signed a 6-month contract for his women’s only program, enrolling our daughters. Two months into the contract, he sent an email stating that to enhance his gym, he wanted all students to start competing. This same email stated that he was phasing out the women’s only membership, but he did not state that we could not finish our current contract. Instead, he began sporadically cancelling the class with limited make-up opportunities. Then, one week they substituted a “sip and paint” night for the class, which you had to be 21 and over to attend. My daughter was 16. I complained and stated I should be refunded. Mr. Smith sent me an email almost immediately stating that he was cancelling our account, and that we were no longer welcome at his gym. I tried reasoning with him, I tried apologizing (but, for what?! – asking for a service I had already paid for!), but to no avail. His responses to me were so over the top and rash, there was no logical explanation for his behavior. When I complained about paying for a class that my daughter could not even attend, he responded that the teacher was a “mother, a nurse...and a volunteer.” In other words, how dare I complain. My question to Mr. Smith: If I’m paying for the class, why are you not paying the teacher?? We have attended 3 jiu jitsu gyms in different states, and we have NEVER had an issue with a gym/coach. ANY complaint, politely worded, and fully merited is called out as “bullying” and “abuse.” Mr. Smith has ZERO conflict resolution skills, and he does not honor contracts, nor does he seem to respect women. Adam Smith will play the victim card at any opportunity.

Very untalented. Half the class is a warmup to get the class to be short. And the training is very basic, slow and teaches poor technique. Adam (The head coach) did not know how to teach any moves, and when you asked questions, he barely understood the move. And the prices for everything are insane! 200 for the first month, 150 for the gi, and another 60 for their rash guards! That's insane! Edit: Proved my point more, he talks about doctors and business. Not his losing record.
