I was in town for work and wanted to check out another Six Blades gym, since I train under Six-Blades in Virginia. This gym was extremely welcoming and it felt like I was home! Plenty of men and women at all ages and sizes to practice with and learn from. Also, there was a good amount of instructors available during class if I had any questions. If I ever visit again or move here, this will be my gym. Thank you Prof Leo, Coach Orlando, and Team Marra for training!

I have trained Brazilian jujitsu in several gyms over the course of the last 20 years. I have never experienced a gym, with an instructor who has so much passion for teaching the art, and one who really cares for each and every student. Leonel Marra takes the time to study each of his students to understand how he can affective teach each individual student in a way they can best understand. After all my years of travle, I can say I finally found a home where I can be a student and enjoy the journey. The vibe Leonel brings to the mat and the students is one that is ego free and and makes training fun for all levels and ages. Fantastic jiu jitsu gym. Leo is one of the most respect-worthy instructors that I have ever had. Great school for anyone looking to compete more. They also have kids classes and Women's only classes, so they do an awesome job of accommodating everyone!
Six Blades Fort Worth is one of the best martial art schools with knowledge instructors that teach every aspect of JiuJitsu. They have a curriculum rather than just random positions.
I’ve done quite a few seminars and cross trained at other gyms - this one to date is my favorite - thank you ladies for being so welcoming, it doesn’t go unnoticed - also thankful for the feedback from instructors during class. Top notch facility will definitely visit again when I’m back in the area.
Professor Leonel is a detail oriented jiu jitsu master. You will learn all the positions and details that come with them. This is a school and not just a gym. Each and every student is focused, respectful, attentive and helpful. You will have the opportunity to meet and train with high level players from around the globe. This also helps expands your training. They come and visit often to learn or brush up on details from professor Marra. As a student I am happy and come ready to train here daily.
I am not new to Jiu Jitsu. I’ve been on this journey for nearly 7 years. I am a small, middle-aged female grappler, and I have found over the years, that women need other women of similar size to roll with. I have this here at Six Blades Ft. Worth. I love the growth of Women's Jiu Jitsu here! It has been over a year now since I’ve changed schools, and everyone here has been such a blessing to me. I don’t even mind the 30 minute drive anymore cause I’m so happy to get to train and see everyone.
Even though I didn’t start with Coach Marra, Tiago, Felipe, and Gabriel, I know in my heart I will be so proud to get a black belt here. Yes, absolutely, the Jiu Jitsu here is legit! The wealth of knowledge these instructors have is evident when you take their classes. You will be a very competent practitioner here and learn amazing Jiu Jitsu. For me though, what sets this academy apart from the numerous Jiu Jitsu schools in the DFW area, is the genuine kindness and love they have for others. I know all I need to know by the way I have seen them treat all sorts of people with all sorts of varying goals. Faith and Family are the cornerstones at this school, and it’s refreshing to see actions line up with words. I’m super proud of the patch I wear:-)
The academy itself is very welcoming and inviting. They have two mat spaces, a separate kids room with TV and space for them to play, bleachers and chairs for spectators/guests, central air/heat, and mats and bathrooms are clean. It’s an easy find right off the highway, you would be selling yourself short if you didn’t drop in and check out this wonderful school in Ft. Worth!

Professor Marra is a wise man, a motivator, a great teacher, and a great person to call friend. His school is great but his story is amazing. A man of faith and family. I would have never guessed this place was going to be such a big part of my life or that I would even step foot in any sort of mma academy, but I hope to be here a long long time. The community is unreal and love getting to train with new friends. Would definitely recommend this to anyone of any level.
I’ve trained all over the world and the program in place at Six Blades Fort Worth is one of the best I’ve seen. The facility is run in the true martial arts style and is clean and orderly. The knowledge of the instructors is incredible and students are taught every aspect of JiuJitsu through a comprehensive curriculum rather than just random positions. This is where you want to train if you want to build a complete competency in classic JiuJitsu that works. It is also a place where competitors can take their game to the next level and be a part of a team of training partners and coaches who will support you throughout the preparation phase and at tournaments.
We looked at a few gyms before choosing. This is a school! The leadership is phenomenal and the personal attention the children get is unmatched. My boys have had such a boost in confidence and love class.
My 5yo son started in March and they welcomed him with open arms. The price is reasonable and he can practice Monday thru Friday which is flexible for my schedule. They make sure to interact with him and ensure he understands. And he has fun! Im seeing progress, my son has already decided he wants to get his black belt and looking forward to his 1st stripe.
Leonel and his wife have created a family centric environment dedicated to furthering the art of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He is a master in his craft. The establishment is welcoming and inviting...a place for all to come train regardless of experience level. I highly recommend Six Blades Jiu-jitsu Fort Worth!
Started training here while searching for a school with more flexible schedules. I was amazed at the warm welcome and the immediate feeling of openness. All of the students were engaged in improvement. Doesn’t matter why you come in; straight Jiu Jitsu, getting in shape, losing a little weight, or self defense, they will help you reach your goals. After a few classes I fully understood why; Luciana & Leonel! I’m a 47 year old blue belt (some of us are late to the party) and the level of Jiu Jitsu is amazing. I’m drilling techniques I never thought I would try!!! Leonels way of teaching helps you elevate past your own preconceived barriers. He takes complex techniques and moves and breaks them down into simple fundamentals. I fell blessed to have found this school. Can’t wait to get back!
Attended my first Jiu-Jitsu class this week, and was a bit nervous considering I have never once done any martial arts. Luciana was very patient with me and was very thoughtful and encouraging as I attempted to go along with the coursework. I am excited to continue my journey, and will update my review periodically.
I travel a lot for work and had the pleasure of stopping into this place. I see a lot of different gyms because I travel so much. This is one of the best gyms I’ve had the pleasure of visiting while traveling. The head instructor is top notch in both his skill level and teaching, the members of the gym are all well skilled and great training partners, and most importantly, it is a friendly and safe environment to train. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.
I have been lucky enough to train at many schools and gyms around the United States and I've never witnessed or experienced a vibe such as what has been created at RJJNTX. The atmosphere is what it is because of Leonel and Luciana Marra. The level of training is top notch, however, there are zero ego's once you walk through the door. Students and families of all levels feel welcomed and comfortable training with this dynamic team that has been created right here in Fort Worth, TX.
I started my jiu-jitsu journey with Leonel and the RJJ NTX family in June of 2019. At the time of this review, I have trained for a little over six months. Having been a former NCAA D-1 athlete myself, I have been exposed to many different coaches and styles of leadership throughout my athletic career. I can say with all sincerity that Leonel ranks at the top of my list of coaches in terms of knowledge/application of his craft. Leonel’s ability to simplify and communicate seemingly “complex” techniques and systems of movement is amazing.
While Leonel is a great instructor on the mats, I see him as an even better man off the mats. It goes beyond jiu-jitsu for Leonel and his family. This is their ministry. They genuinely care about you as an individual. The culture/vibe of this school is one of inclusion and family, it’s not a gym, it’s a school. Light vibe, HEAVY jiu-jitsu. Speaking from experience as a beginner, the higher ranked students don’t try to destroy the less experienced. Make no mistake, the training is intense, but there is a sense of “giving more than you take” in terms of training. The more experienced help the less experienced, a family vibe.
My three year old trains on Tuesday and Thursday. He always looks forward to going to class and playing with his friends. He has already had a couple instances at daycare, where another kid has tackled him and he was able to get out from underneath them and walk away unharmed. If you have kids, start them in jiu-jitsu as soon as possible. Not only will it benefit them by giving them the tools to physically defend themselves, but they will learn how to be gentle, respectful and a good listener. My son is still working on the good listener part. 😊
I hope this review encourages anyone reading this to come train, but especially the first-timer who is looking to start training. Starting anything new can be overwhelming and humbling. Stop putting it off, today is the day. Accept the fact that starting out you’re not going to be the best, you’re not going to know anything. There’s no pressure to perform. Accept the fact that regardless of your physical abilities, a smaller, “weaker” person will be able to control you in ways you couldn’t imagine, simply because they have been training longer. Everyone has a different “Why?” In terms of their motivation for training. Leo and the students of RJJ NTX will support you along the way. Show up, stay humble, and work hard. You will improve, just be patient, enjoy the process and follow the plan.
My wife and I started looking for a self defense class for my son after he was getting bullied at school. After checking out multiple classes we knew Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu was the place for us. Leonel and wife Luciana have created a warm & welcoming family environment. They have been with great with my son and helped him gain his confidence back. Because of this, at the age of 43, I decided to join and train as well. Even though I can’t attend as often as I’d like due to my work schedule they are always happy to see me & allow me to pick up where I left off. For someone who always wanted to learn BJJ and thought they’re too old to start something new, this is the best place to do it.
This school is very well kept clean with a great family vibe and great people. Professor Leonel is an Amazing instructor who brings out the best in each student and treats each person as family. I am beyond blessed to have found this school and always thankful for Professor Leonel and his family for choosing Texas as their permanent home.
I was looking for a bjj school that I could bring my entire family and feel that my kids would learn principals and self discipline. Leonel is a great coach, he is someone who has challenged my sons and myself to believe that even under very stressful situations, you can prevail if you think ahead of your opponent. I love this SCHOOL and I capitalized schools before everyone call themself academy, martial art studio or Gym. This place is a real BJJ SCHOOL for your entire family. Thanks Marra family!
I was invited to train at Ribeiro by a friend on a free week pass. It wasn’t my intention to join but after learning what Leonel could do for my game, I was sold. He’s help reinvigorate my training regimen and the training schedule is very convenient. Leonel has broadened my horizon on details I missed in my earlier training and I highly recommend his instruction for beginners or advanced students.
We absolutely love this school! My 6 year old son has been attending the Little Ninjas class for a few months, after experiencing some bullying at school and he has definitely gained his confidence back. The instructor is patient and teaches discipline while also bringing the fun. He truly cares about his students, engulfing them in a big hug when he sees them and telling them how great they are doing throughout the class. He and his wife are so welcoming to the students and their families, and offer a great family vibe!
This place was very clean, very welcoming and I got the opportunity to train there for the Dallas open for a week. It was a great experience and the instruction I received was incredible, second to none. Thanks Leonel for everything that you do! I highly recommend anyone in the area to go and sign up, I would if I lived there.
This is a wonderful school. It's difficult to put into words the feel of the atmosphere and vibe in this school. It's welcoming and friendly, polite and disciplined. Leonel, the teacher is tremendously talented and skillful, detail oriented and attentive. Also he is mindful of new students, keeping them from being injured. If you have the opportunity to go here, I know you'll benefit greatly.
Great! Love they have assistant instructors and everyone there super nice and supportive even for us beginners and looked fun enough even at almost 40yrs old I wanted to join in the fun and participate in adult classes! Definitely learning a lot!
My ex husband signed my kids up. We are divorced and six blades made the decision that I could not attend per exs request. Even when it was my day they would not consider me bringing my kids to their class even tho the ex would not be there. I barely walked into the door to be escorted out. This was confusing to my kids and embarrassing to me. I do not think it was their place to decide who can come and go during a divorce. It should be about the kids. I caused no problems at all. I also found this place to be dirty what little time I had in it. We are at Gracie Barr West Fort Worth. I don’t think they will be putting their noses in where it does not belong like six blades did. I am so disappointed and discouraged with Six blades!!! As a mom I would not consider taking my kids there knowing this.
