Dropped in from out of town to try a class led by Douglas. He and the rest of the folks in the class were friendly and welcoming, especially for someone who is new to the BJJ sport. The gym was clean and well-maintained. Thanks for having me!
Posted 1 year agoI been to many gyms in my lifetime, none of them top this one! If you are a hobbyist or a fighter this gym is for you. Doug cares about whoever walks into the gym. He cares about each and every individual completely and will help u get to the goals that you have set for yourself. Just come by and be ready to learn and give some effort.
Posted 1 year agoMy partner and I travelled to Fort Worth to compete at the Pan American IBJJF Championship and visited 10th Planet on the week leading up to the competition. The head coach Douglas Frey was very welcoming during our visit and made sure that we were looked after prior to competing. We also went for the 10 roll Tuesday which was really fun and exactly what we needed prior to competing. For any girls considering a visit, there was heaps of high level females that were great to roll with.
We trained here for a drop in session whilst travelling for the No Gi Pans from Australia. Douglas was very welcoming and we'd gladly train there again!
I can’t recommend 10th Planet enough! In just four months, my Jiu-Jitsu has improved tremendously. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the training partners work well, making every session enjoyable. The coaching is world class in jiujitsu, kickboxing or MMA.
Yoooooo…I Love Brazilian Jiujitsu, wrestling, martial arts, and combat sports period and this is an awesome place if you’re like me and want to excel in what you love and be of high competitive caliber. I truly dig this place heavy and I drive and 1hr each way to do what we do!!!! So Come thru!!!!
Great environment! 10 am kickboxing with coach Jacob is my favorite class
Great gym to call home for any grappler, kickboxer or mixed martial artist. Everyone here has been nothing, but kind and helpful since I began training here in June this year. A lot of great rounds to be had, but most importantly it’s a fun and safe place to train
At Doug Frey’s gym, you’re not just another student – you’re part of a community that’s dedicated to your growth. Coach Doug is truly invested in your martial arts journey, offering expert guidance in jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and kickboxing. His approach challenges you to push past your limits while supporting you every step of the way. Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your skills, this gym provides the perfect balance of discipline, camaraderie, and personal development. I’m proud to call this place my second home.
Fantastic coach, environment, and gym! Coach Doug is a knowledgeable and experienced martial artist, A Brazil Jiu Jitsu black belt practitioner, former professional fighter and trainer. I joined this gym a little over two & a half years ago with Little to no combat sports training. I wanted to find a way to incorporate my cardiovascular training & learn a new skill and Frey MMA/10Th planet Fort Worth provided just that! Doug was very welcoming, and took the time to help me build my fundamentals to get me on my feet. Whether you’re a beginner like I was or an experienced practitioner you’ll have a place to train here at 10th planet FTW. From beginner kickboxing classes, jiu jitsu, wrestling to more advanced MMA & sparring. All classes are included in your membership and you can train as much as your heart desires. There are students from all walks of life, ages and experience that all come together to train in this Dojo. So if you’re apprehensive of joining a gym like this, my advice is to just show up and give it a shot. Take it from me, you’ll be glad you did. See you on the Mats!
Welcoming environment, great coaching for beginners and for multiple competition skill levels. Highly recommend checking out. 10/10
So I thought by the name it was a new Reiki massage place but it turns out it's like a DIY group-participation chiropracty clinic. A-mazeballs. Bonus: the owner was a SMOKING hotty, very exotic looking. Unfortunately his wife was there and she knows martial arts, but I'll definitely be back to break him down. Anyways, forget Reiki, I'm beginning to think it's kinda nonsense. BJJ is definitely better, and this is a beautiful gym to learn it.
The new location is awesome. Great mat space and parking. Top level jiu jitsu and MMA instruction as well. I highly recommend that you give them a try!
Exceptional skills, exceptional coach, exceptional people
Team Frey/10p Fort Worth fosters an amazing learning environment for every level of skill. Douglas is super diligent when it comes to studying and practicing the arts, and it’s clear with his team’s track proven records. The beginners here are very challenging, thus compliments the style of teaching here. Jinh Yu Frey offers much to her beginners not everyone gets to be taught by a Invicta Champ, or a UFC VET! You don’t want to miss out on the beginners class with her! For your most seasoned people traveling: Amazing training partners, I came here to cross train, and I was well taken care of by everyone! Very clean facility, and up kept bathrooms, women are well taken care of ;) ifykyk Thanks Jinh!
Douglas Frey runs a top notch NoGi jiu jitsu academy. Clean, concise instruction & immaculate vibes. Join this school now and watch your game level up!
Coach Frey is an excellent teacher. This place has a very welcoming environment for newcomers. Excited to continue my journey here.
Hands down the best jiujitsu nogi academy to train at. 10p jiujitsu, big on competition but also if you are trying to have a good workout!
Awesome training environment for all skill levels. Have nothing but great things to say about this gym. Coach Doug truly knows his stuff. Can’t recommend enough.
Excellent place to train. Perfect balance of instruction and pushing your limits. Coach is attentive to everyone regardless of skill level and the students are all welcoming and competitive.
Absolutely thrilled with my experience at 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Fort Worth! Doug, the gym owner, has created an incredibly welcoming and supportive environment. The training sessions are top-notch, offering a perfect balance of challenge and learning. The instructors are knowledgeable and patient, always ready to help students improve their technique. The camaraderie among fellow members is truly special, fostering a sense of community that keeps me motivated to attend each class. If you're looking to learn Jiu-Jitsu in a fantastic setting, under the guidance of Doug and his team, this is the place to be!
With the guidance of the amazing instructors at 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu, I've not only lost 11 pounds but also enhanced my grappling skills significantly. The atmosphere and people at the gym have been incredible motivators. Ready to take on new challenges! 💪 #Gains"
Coach Frey is awesome and an amazing teacher! He’s great at challenging you and bettering you regardless of your skill level.
The most welcoming team I have ever been apart of and the best coach we could ever ask for!
Great school, great coach, very welcoming and challenging environment for anyone looking to become a better martial artist
This is a great place to train, the coaching comes from a place of knowledge and experience, and it is one of the only places that takes the training to competition level. There are weekly sparring which help really implement what is being taught. Everyone is also very supportive and tries to help each other reach higher levels. Overall, very worth the price and a great place to be.
Moved to the area and tried other gyms nearby, found this place, it’s a gem. Great group of up and coming guys in this gym. Wether you want to stay in shape, learn for self defense or fight, all levels of experience are welcomed. Coaches always willing help out with instruction. Also the head coach is looking to add more space and equipment.
best school and COACH in Texas! Visited a lot of schools early on, and not a single one was as welcoming to new students AND as violent as coach Doug! From pro students, to first day students coach makes you feel like part of the team, pushing you to new limits on and off the mats! Absolutely incredible teacher, coach and gym!
I trained at this gym periodically for six months, and I wanted to offer my thoughts for others who are considering training here. Overall, this is a great gym if you are looking for a good price, and group classes. However, I didn’t find the dedicated Jiu Jitsu mentorship from its coach, Doug Frey, that I was hoping for. After six months of training there, I tried to schedule two private lessons with Doug. The first time, Doug cancelled the day of and told me that actually, lessons started the following week. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled. The following week, about an hour before we were supposed to meet, Doug asked if I could bring a partner to the training session and informed me he couldn’t train me without a partner because it was “a challenge to critique my game one on one”. I was less than thrilled with the last minute request when I repeatedly had discussed the lesson with Doug the week prior and he made no mention of this requirement. I told him no, I don’t have the ability to find a partner and asked if we could still work together - Doug said no, this time stating his body was sore from working from his MMA fighters. This was pretty disappointing and demonstrated to me that Doug didn’t seem to care that I planned my week around his lesson, or that he had respect for my time or growth as a Jiu Jitsu practitioner and also an attorney who works sixty hour weeks and has limited ability to train. I ended my membership there and am looking for another gym to call home. I have no ill will towards this gym but I hope this review is viewed with a perspective that there is more that needs to be done for those who have limited ability to train but want a dedicated coach all the same.
