Our daughter started at Sherbourne Martial Arts Academy about three weeks ago, and we couldn't be more thrilled with her experience. She has fallen in love with jiu-jitsu, and a big part of that is thanks to Simon Sherbourne. Simon has an amazing temperament with the kids—he's patient, encouraging, and knows exactly how to keep them engaged while teaching valuable skills. The atmosphere at the academy is very family-oriented, which makes it a welcoming and comfortable place for both kids and parents. We highly recommend this academy to anyone looking for quality martial arts training in a supportive environment!"

I have been training in Kenpo Karate since 1985 and have had the privilege of knowing Simon Sherbourne since the 1980s. Over the years, I’ve come to recognize him as one of the most knowledgeable and skilled martial artists in Canada. In 2012, I began cross-training in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and have earned all my ranks directly from the Gracie family. In October 2024, I began taking private Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lessons with Mr. Sherbourne, and the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. His teaching style emphasizes repetition, ensuring that students master each technique, and he approaches instruction with remarkable patience and clarity. If you're seeking top-tier martial arts instruction in the London, Ontario area, I wholeheartedly recommend Sherbourne Martial Arts Academy.

Kyoshi Sherbourne and Senseis at SMAA provide an excellent martial arts training experience with top notch teaching of jiu jitsu, karate, and self defense. The traditions of martial arts instruction are combined with thorough curriculums that emphasise effectiveness and applications. Six months after joining the dojo, we (father and son) continue to be very happy to be able to be part and to train in this dojo. We appreciate the personal attention to individual progress and seriousness of training while keeping it fun!

Kyoshi Simon Sherbourne is an incredible martial arts instructor. He is kind, patient, and truly dedicated to his students. He has changed my life for the better by offering in-person trainings at a time when I needed it most. Not only is he an excellent teacher, but he also takes the time to get to know each of his students and tailors the training to their individual needs. If you see a glimpse of high-performance attitude in your kids, I highly recommend you entrust them to Kyoshi Simon Sherbourne, he will take care of the rest. I highly recommend him to parents and anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate instructor.

I'm a new member, having started about five months ago. But I have practiced martial arts on-and-off since the late 1980s, with about 20 years total instruction under various teachers across several styles. I can therefore say with authority that Sherbourne Martial Arts Academy is an excellent place to study martial arts. In the karate and kobudo program, Kyoshi Sherbourne offers what I would call a traditional program with a modern flair. The self-defense program, which is excellent too, combines elements of jujitsu with applications from the karate program. The atmosphere is positive, supportive, and very welcoming for newcomers and experienced practitioners alike. I’ve also witnessed first hand the very positive impact that the programs have on children and young people. Mr. Sherbourne’s professional experience as an educator underpins everything: the other instructors are excellent, the program is well organized, requirements are clear, and a series of affordable and useful videos can help students to buttress in-class learning. In short: this is an excellent martial arts academy. My highest recommendation. Edit, January 2023: the new dojo on Wonderland St is an outstanding facility with lots of training space.
