This is a long overdo review. Unfortunately, We moved out of the area last fall so my 2 kids are no longer able to attend Serio. We would absolutely be still attending if we lived in the area. But their multi-year experience with Ms. Jillian has laid a great foundation of self-confidence, discipline, and teamwork. My son started as a shy 3 year old unsure of himself. But through the years became a leader in his class. Ms. Jillian’s program and lessons learned are still applied by us to other challenging situations in our kids lives today. My daughter made good friends and learned to challenge herself: make specific goals and work to achieve them. Our kids responded well to the belt progression system as tangible goals they could achieve through hard work and disciplined attendance in class. And the environment is very supportive for all kids no matter their level. Ms. Jillian strives for the kids to understand that the best and most fulfilling achievements require hard work. You don’t show up and get prize. But she does it a supportive manner. The classes are well worth the money. They are typically small and every child gets individual attention. I highly recommend Serio.

Jillian is a great instructor. She has done an amazing job with our kids and their behavior at home is better due to their participation in Han Mu Do. We highly recommend Serio Self Dehense for anyone, kids and adults.

Jillian is great and my son is really enjoying the martial arts classes. The classes are very well organized and there is a good mix of fun activity and careful technique instruction.

I have been training here with my children (now all three of them) for almost three years. It is a great school with a family oriented atmosphere. There are separate adult and children's classes. The martial art is a Korean art called Han Mu Do. The founder Dr. He-Young Kimm basically created the style by combining elements from Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Judo. Having trained in Gojuryu and Ishinryu Karate as well as Tae kwon Do, I have found this to be a very complete martial art. It allows self defense from standing at kicking and punching distance as well as grappling and ground fighting from the Judo aspect and the joint manipulation of Hapkido. Weapons traing in staff and sword are also part of the pre-black belt curriculum. Master Jillian Serio is a 5th Dan black belt who is great with kids and also is very good at adapting the techniques for students of all physical abilities. I also like how she combines the philosphy of Korean masters into the physical training. There are always great lessons there especially for the kids.

MS.Jillian is absolutely amazing. We've been looking for an instructor who could connect and explain in a fun way. So glad we found her!
