Hands down one of the BEST Brazilian Jiujitsu Gyms I have ever trained at. As a sporadic Brazilian Jiujitsu practitioner for the past 6 years, between travelling and many other interests, BJJ has always grounded me as I travelled and lived between New Zealand and the UK. I have trained at some pretty prestigious gyms, which have all had some great positives, but what really sticks out to me about Royal Jiujitsu compared to the rest, is the combination of friendliness AND train hard mentality. With a wealth of knowledge and experience under this Royal Jiujitsu roof, every training session is an educational session, which I love! I feel encouraged to try, and make mistakes, as this is how we learn. In other gyms I have felt at times intimidated for not knowing the technique, or been shamed with push ups for being late to class. As a woman feeling safe in a gym is very important, I definitely feel safe training at Royal Jiujitsu. Safe to train, learn and grow. The coaches are absolutely AMAZING! I feel so grateful and fortunate, to have found Royal Jiujitsu since moving to Birmingham last year. 10 STARS!!!!!
Posted 1 year agoReally great. They have a nice balance of serious about, highly contemporary Jiu Jitsu, but with serious-fun approach. For kids my son immediately appreciated that they really get stuck into proper learning of theory and applying it into practice.
Posted 1 year agoI have been a member here since May/June 2023 and have loved every second spent on the Mats. Sam & Bradley (the whole team!) Are fantastic! You really feel as though they are trying to get the best out of you in every session. And I always come away feeling elevated and confident to take on the next day. Not only do you improve your understanding of jiu jitsu as an art form but you come away understanding more about yourself and what you are capable of if you believe in yourself. Thanks team! I look forward to many more hours spent sweating it out and rolling with the best!
Posted 2 years agoRoyal Jiu Jitsu is the best place in Birmingham to learn Jiu Jitsu, in my opinion. Both Bradley and Samantha have copious amounts of knowledge and experience of Jiu Jitsu, both as world class competitors and teachers. The Royal community is friendly and welcoming and ultimately a wonderful place to be. I highly recommend Royal Jiu Jitsu to beginners and advanced students. Personally, I think you’d be a fool to pass up the opportunity of learning from the best Jiu Jitsu coaches in the business. Thank you Bradley and Samantha for creating a welcoming, safe and friendly environment to learn Jiu Jitsu!
Posted 3 years agoBradley and Samantha, Along with the other high-level coaches are excellent. The lessons are interesting and challenging. But the meticulous attention to detail by all instructors is second to none. These classes also lead on from week to week which retain knowledge and apply it in subsequent classes. Any question in class or after class is answered from a place of well-varied knowledge and world-class competitive Jiu-Jitsu experience in Both Gi and No Gi. The atmosphere of the classes is excellent, and the ability to train with experienced peers at the beginner level is an added bonus which doesn't happen at many places. As this also contributes to continuous beginner improvement. I would highly recommend Royal to anybody looking to train BJJ in Birmingham.
