Thabks to Giles and Christiana for welcoming my wife and I to train at their comp class. Coach Ben's instructions were absolute top class, well progressive and scaffolded for those interested in competing. It was a really intense session but at no point did we feel in danger. A real ace jiujitsu academy with excellent values all gyms should adapt. The people of Rutherglen are better with such an excellent facility in the vicinity.
I signed up last month for the unlimited membership. Since then, I have done around 20 classes, so it has been great value for money. Everyone is very welcoming and the coaches are great and take time for everyone, regardless of levels. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get into BJJ.
Step aside…there’s a new sheriff in town. Ronin Grappling has it all: a team of absurdly knowledgable & professional coaches, pristine facilities & a wide variety of training partners. Couldn’t recommend enough. Giles is a warm & friendly, moustachioed, thoroughbred Black Belt. His classes, delivered with smiles & laughter, are always fun & dripping in quality. With a relentless attitude to learning, he really inspires all at the gym to up their standards & help each other. Cristiana is immensely welcoming, an incredibly clear teacher & an absolute master of the dark arts! I was particularly drawn by the amazing work that she does with the women’s & non-binary classes & courses. She has a clear passion for the both the art & passing it on to others, in an inclusive, safe & encouraging environment. Everyone welcome & no nonsense tolerated. I started by visiting & was absolutely sold by their ethos & standards. Come try it out!
Very friendly and welcoming! Was quite nervous to try as never done bjj before. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. So much so I signed up for a membership straight after my first class. Love it
Hands down the best place to train. Everything is really well organised, and the coaches are top notch......knowledgeable, supportive, and always willing to adapt sessions around injuries. I came in with a list of niggles and they’ve done nothing but help me work through them safely. The dojo setup is fantastic, great atmosphere, excellent facilities, even a sauna. They also have an online membership platform where you can study techniques outside of class. I’ve trained at a few clubs over the years, and this is by far the best.
Had the pleasure of dropping in a session as well as a attending weekend seminar. Excellent facilities, good changing areas, super clean showers and toilets, and nice springy, clean mats. Belts in BJJ are largely subjective but in my opinion there were no sandbagged or participation belted regulars, gradings seem to be very well thought out. Teaching was really good, and each individual was heard and given the support they needed whether visiting or regulars to the gym, beginners or advanced. I personally heard conversations between the owner(s) and some of the members which highlighted a deliberate care for the students that train there beyond a transactional relationship of customer/provider. If you're in Glasgow, I highly recommend getting in touch.
Posted 1 year agoIt's really welcoming and super clean. The facilities are fantastic and the mat is really comfortable. My husband attended a weekend seminar, and we both attended a Gi morning class. I was really impressed with the atmosphere and tone of the place. If you love BJJ or want to try it, I'd 100% recommend booking in paying a visit.
Posted 1 year agoI dropped in here while visiting from out of town and was super impressed with the gym’s welcoming, professional environment. The instructors were knowledgeable and technical, and they made sure to give each student individual feedback and pointers during the training. The team was respectful, friendly and fun to train with, and made me immediately feel comfortable in the group. I’m already looking forward to visiting again next time I am in Glasgow. 10/10 would recommend!
Posted 1 year agoFantastic to place to train BJJ. As soon as you walk through the door everyone is very welcoming. Giles has a great teaching style, his tech details are on point and he throws in a bit of banter to make his classes very interesting. Having travelled and trained in many gyms across the globe, this one is definitely one of the best I have had the pleasure of visiting! Must if you are in Glasgow!
Posted 2 years agoBeautiful Juijitsu Dojo. Giles is a rare, intelligent and life time scholar of grappling arts as shown in his rolling and highly effective coaching. His other coaches I rolled with were also very kind, technical and free with their knowledge. The gym is like a Japanese shrine or spa, with a very family atmosphere where I was nicely welcomed. The raised mats were gorgeous, and the sauna and general cleanliness of the place was amazing and an exception for most gyms. Can't recommend enough to good people wanting superb grappling coaching.
