I’ve trained there myself and can confidently say the atmosphere is incredible—welcoming, energetic, and supportive. My 10 year old son, Arthur, started practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Coach Austin a little over a year ago. Although he is not typically athletic, he loved it from the very first day! With other sports, he has gotten frustrated very quickly when they became difficult. I believe that stemmed from a lack of encouragement and support from coaches and teammates. That is not the case at RockStar!! Coach Austin, Coach Dean, and Coach Maddie truly love the sport, truly believe in the importance of self defense, and, most importantly, truly love and believe in every kid that comes onto their mat! They have inspired my son to find his physical, mental, and emotional strengths, and to use them in all aspects of life. He is more apt to persevere through difficult situations, and is more patient with himself if he makes mistakes. His self control and attention span are improving, and his physical stamina is improving as well. He believes in himself more than ever! He knows that, through hard work and determination, he can do anything he sets his mind to. Most importantly, he no longer feels like he has to take being treated poorly by others. He can stand up for himself and for others when necessary, and he can defend himself physically if it ever comes to that! Thank you to all of the coaches, especially Coach Austin, for making my son a better human!

Rockstar has been such a blessing for us! Coach Austin and his team are amazing. I wish I would have had a coach like him as a kid! He makes the classes fun, yet challenging. I love that he sets a high expectation for the kids to do and be their best- on the mat AND in everyday life. He is very knowledgeable in JiuJitsu and takes time to explain the moves for each stage. You can tell that the kids respect him and are eager to learn from them. We always feel welcomed when we come through the doors, and Madee is usually the one to greet us. When we moved to Prosper, we enrolled out son in Rockstar. I have done several martial arts in the past and I have to say martial arts instruction has come a long a way. I have been impressed with Coach Austin! He does a great job with the kids. He systematically breaks down the moves so the kids can understand them. He teaches them the fundamentals and effectively develops their skills from there. He finishes each class with a short discussion with the kids focusing on things such as concentration, motivation, sportsmanship, how to deal with bullies, etc. It’s a well-structured class done in a friendly environment. It's not intimidating at all! . As I watch my son train at Rockstar, I can see his progress every week. It’s pretty cool to see him employing the moves as Coach Austin taught them. As I mentioned earlier, I have been impressed with Rockstar. In a nutshell, Coach Austin provides great instruction for the kids in a safe training environment. It’s great for girls, too. My son is in class now and I will enroll my daughter when she is old enough. If you are interested in martial arts/BJJ classes for your child, definitely check out Rockstar.

Rockstar has had such a positive influence on our family in a relatively short timespan (hard to believe it’s only been roughly 6 months now!). Coach Austin embodies a team-centric, family style environment day in day out, which is something a lot of places might say they do, but usually end up falling short. Roughly 6 months ago, we started Nick in their beginner program. From the very first class, we could tell he was hooked. What I immediately noticed was the positivity and energy Coach Austin exuded when he worked with the kids. He’s got a way of relating with them that builds their confidence and while setting clear and direct expectations. Coach Austin is literally helping to grow these kids into respectful, confident, and capable individuals that understand their training is NOT for bullying or proving you’re tough, but for defending themselves in life. Coach Austin wraps up each class with a 3-5 minute talk about the “Word of the Week” (ex.- Purpose, Determination, Team, Humility, etc..), in which he usually ties in a story from personal experience and talks about how to embody certain character traits. So many times, I’ve sat there and thought, “I just had that talk with Nick!” or “Nick usually zones out after the first minute on me!” It’s been amazing having someone pour into our son the way Austin does (and to do it with a Christian mindset!) that ties in perfectly with how we’re trying to raise Nick. This story gets even crazier… because of all of the awesomeness I just talked about.. roughly two months after my son started at Rockstar, this 41-year old dad stepped into his first jiu-jitsu class ever. And guess what? TOTALLY HOOKED. The family environment, ideals, confidence, discipline carry right on over to the Adult Jiu-Jitsu class. Who knew learning an important life skill while busting your tail for an hour could be this much fun? And the best part of the whole thing… it’s a journey me and my son get to take together :)

I'm BEYOND impressed by RockStar's approach to athlete development. Mind you, I knew very little about martial arts when our 12 year old daughter first said she wanted to do jiu jitsu - so I'm talking about the "whole-human" development of values like character, commitment, and resilience. The training is world-class, and even if it weren't, I'd still be getting an incredible return on my investment with Coach Austin here. My son loves training with coach Austin. Coach Austin doesn't treat my son like a child. He works him hard, pushes him to his physical limits. Sometimes he leaves the teen/adult class exhausted and sore for days. As a result, My son has grown in confidence, physical ability and self esteem. Coach Austin has not only trained my son, he has helped inspire a love for the martial arts through kickboxing and jui jitsu and added to my son' s quality of life training four to five times a week. . The self discipline and conditioningi gained from this routine is amazing . Couldn't have asked ffor more of a return on our money spent on these classes . Only wished we could have found Rockstar program sooner.

Coach Austin is amazing! He is extremely knowledgeable and relates very well to all ages. My son has learned much more than martial arts, he’s learned life lessons and perspective along the way. It’s been so good for him and has helped him in many ways! This program is worth every penny!

We are officially part of the Rockstar family and more than happy to be a part of it!!! About a month ago, I stumbled upon Rockstar MA. I went to go talk to them about my 4yr old son. They invited us to try a free class out before deciding if we want to join. We just recently moved to the area, with commitment still at home, they have been very patient with us as to joining. They would check on us yet not being pushy about joining. Chloe was awesome as far taking care of everything for me over the phone, signing us up, answering my questions and all else. On his first day of class, my son had a few rough moments (as a mom I started questioning things) I spoke of concerns to Chloe and she reassured me, not only that but passed it along to Coach Austin. He called me the next day and we spoke. What a gem he is!!!! He genuinely cares for the kids and wants to see them succeed. He maybe teaching but he is very intuitive to the kids, their needs, personality and all. I’m thankful we have found Coach Austin and Rockstar Martial Arts! I’m excited to to watch my son exceed and expand his potential and to add to his character from learning from great role models.

I set up a trail class for my son. We had Coach Austin as our instructor. He is an awesome coach with charisma, during class he demonstrate techniques in a precise, easy to understand manner for the kids. Always giving positive feedback to the kids and encouraging them. We are happy that we decided to join.

I highly recommend Rockstar!! Coach Austin is amazing!!!!! I have 4 kids and they all adore him! I see their confidence going up each day, and I owe it all Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Rockstar!!! Thank you for not only teaching them on the mats, but teaching them how those lessons help them off the mats as well!!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!!

SO glad we found this place! It’s clean and brand new! We felt like part of the team from the very first day. The owners and coaches could not be more friendly and knowledgeable. My almost 8 year old wants to go every single day, which is great because you can attend as many classes per week as you’d like!! We’re so impressed with the whole program and highly recommend!

I rarely write reviews. The only way I would write a review is if someone really pissed me off or someone had made an impressive impression that has gone above at beyond expectations. Luckily with Rockstar it’s the latter. Our son has been involved in martial arts since he was 3.5 and the class had made such an impression on our family that we felt it was the gold standard of teaching. It was focus, self-discipline, self-control, self-defense, and confidence in both all aspects of life (home, school, and the dojo). Getting a 3-year-old to stay perfectly still for nearly a minute is a freaking miracle. As parents, we may be biased to say our son shows extreme potential shows promise to compete, but to have some like a Master or Coach to see it, build on it, and to push him…only confirms what we already knew. And we were expecting the same since moving from California. It had been a struggle for nearly two years even to find a place that was even remotely similar. Don’t get me wrong, the other places were good, and we hated to move on to other places from fear to teaching our son the wrong lesson, but they were not what we were used too…it was like he was going backward and weren’t fostering his competitive nature. When Rockstar opened in Prosper, I have to admit; my expectations were a bit low. The open house was good; they answered all my questions the way I wanted to hear, and even let him try out a class before enrolling; the best thing, they weren’t pushy. The first impression by the way Coach Austin was teaching our son in a way a 6-year-old could understand, breaking down, and sharing the details. The next impact was when the coaches called to check him after his surgery (he wasn’t even enrolled yet). Then we asked our son if he wanted to continue with his current situation or go to Rockstar…. he said Rockstar. As of now, we have been enrolled since February, and I have since seen a growth in our son, he has mostly been working with Coach Austin and is excited to go to class early learn more. We are experiencing what we had experienced when we were in California. Every coach is engaging to all the students and paying attention. Coach Austin is a quick study and knows what our son is good at and building on it and knows what he has trouble with and working on it. Our son really looks up to him. Most importantly, they have become a parents’ support system if there is unacceptable behavior at home and school. They are teaching them life lessons from bullying to both good and bad consequences. I’m really hoping this isn’t a honeymoon period. Right now, the classes are smaller, and it’s easier for the coaches to observe, but I am worried if the classes get too large the quality may suffer…we will see in a few months. I know I gave a 4/5... But we've only started with the Rockstar family.

My son was thriving while training here for the past 4 years with Coach Austin & Madee managing the front desk, however new management took over while they were out on maternity leave & Coach Austin was removed as the head coach of this facility. This duo made this gym such an amazing place & all the families would renew contracts without question because we were more than just a number, we were part of the family. I would not recommend this gym at all, the new owners didn't consider how the change would negatively impact all the families, especially Coach Austin & Madee's family.

August 2024 review: The 2 reasons that made us love this place are no longer there (Austin’s and Madee). Being let go after having their baby is soulless act from corporate. The lack of communication and all the clock and dagger play has left us with a bad mouth taste. We will be taking our business somewhere else and we wish the new coaches good luck. ————————————————————————- No words can fully describe the dedication and love both Coach Austin and Madee out into their students. They treat everyone with respect and discipline. After a little while we’ve clearly noticed how our daughter can focus more and pays attention in all of her day to day activities. The level of training is pretty good and f in safety is really important to them. Healthy atmosphere and after every class you leave with a positive feeling.

Messed up place! ... don't know how to teach kids, then Don't open kids class!!!!! They Only know how to psychologically torture and discourage kid. Don't have patient to teach , then shut your gym!!! Only have pretend nice words saying "thinking for the kid", for God sake, before you says that know what is kids really about first you Austin! U told us my son is doing so well in stage one in early April before u know I was fasting, after that, just in couple weeks, u think his progress slow down, then immediately he became not fit into stage one and need to downgrade to others class...what is behind scenes of your guys thoughts process really?, I don't want to call out anything, but isn't it too obvious!?, ..... Again, So let's take back 100 steps, if it's really about my son's slow in progress, then what? , I am really slow progressing in adult class, so u gonna downgrade me to baby class? And if other youth progress slow in class, then u gonna downgrade them to baby class as well? People pay you to teach, u are not teaching free, so What really need to happen is u should upgrade and educate ur self on how to Coach....cause black belts is not your certificate to coaching. Do u even understand what is the milestone for each age group? No u do not! You just a coach with zero patient, all u can do is lips work and shouting at kids, feel proud of scaring little kids? I remember u said u got ur black belt 3 years in delay, not because of your skills but because of ur attitude, that tells everything what is wrong with u. If u want you kids to be mentally suffer and discourage from class to class, then send ur kids there , let folks who have no idea what kid is to teach your kid!!!! And please Stop quoting lord's word when u have no idea what that really meant and not able to apply it to yourself!!!! Looks ridiculous!!!!!! Btw, only place that take 60 days cancelation fee on earth...while all other programs only take 30 days money sucking facility Be careful for what u get yourself into!

I enrolled my 4-year-old child in a Rock star martial arts North Prosper location main coach: Austin with high hopes for their physical and mental development. However, my experience with the coaching provided was deeply disappointing and concerning. Firstly, the coaching methods employed were unprofessional and lacked sensitivity towards the young age group. Instead of fostering a supportive and encouraging environment, the instructors resorted to harsh and punitive techniques that seemed more like torture than constructive discipline. Furthermore, the mental well-being of the children was clearly disregarded, as the coaching approach often left them feeling scared and anxious rather than empowered and confident. It's disheartening to see such a lack of consideration for the emotional needs of young learners. Overall, my child's experience with this martial arts course was far from positive. I strongly urge the coaching staff to reevaluate their methods and prioritize the well-being and development of the children in their care. As a parent, I expect professionalism and compassion from any educational or extracurricular program, especially when it involves young children. As a parent, witnessing the mental and emotional effects of discouragement and moving and downgrading on my 4-year-old child has been deeply concerning. The experience has shed light on the profound impact such practices can have on young children's well-being. Firstly, the emotional toll of being discouraged and moved out from a class cannot be understated. It's disheartening to see my child's enthusiasm dampened and their self-confidence shaken as a result of feeling inadequate or unwanted in their learning environment. The sense of rejection and confusion that accompanies such experiences is heartbreaking to witness. Moreover, the long-term implications on their mental health are worrisome. shuffled from one class to another not only disrupts their sense of stability and routine but also erodes their trust in the learning process. The fear of failure and rejection that develops as a result can hinder their ability to explore new activities and engage with their peers positively. Furthermore, the lack of support and understanding from educators exacerbates the situation. Instead of nurturing resilience and self-esteem, the practice of discouragement cycle of insecurity and self-doubt in young children. In conclusion, the mental effects of being discouraged and moved out from a class on 4-year-old children are profound and far-reaching. As parents and educators, it's our responsibility to create environments that foster a sense of belonging. My experience with a coach who lacks patience and understanding when working with 4-year-old children has been deeply troubling and concerning. It's disheartening to witness the negative impact such behavior has on both the child and the overall learning environment. From the outset, it was clear that the coach's frustration with one child perceived as "slowing down" the class was palpable. Instead of demonstrating patience and empathy, the coach's impatience seemed to overshadow any attempt at fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. Furthermore, the coach's eagerness to "kick the kid out of class" reflects a complete lack of understanding of child development Please be professional if you guys want to teach young children or take some educational lessons, only knowing martial art or having a black belt is meant nothing like a having college diploma with no working experience , and once and all if put making money in first place and teaching young soul and kids in number 15ths place is the goal?! Please find other business not teaching kids ROCK STAR MARTIAL ART!!!!!! Respect! Please respect the kids little work even it is looks nothing like “ Black Belt “ Curdosey! A Concerning Experience for a Parent and Veteran at Rockstar Martial Arts read before you sign 6 months away! As a veteran accustomed to high-stress situations and strict discipline, I understand the value of resilience and character-building. However, my six-month experience at Rockstar Martial Arts has left me deeply concerned about their approach to teaching young children. The class sizes often felt overloaded, and the instructors, particularly Coach Austin, seemed to favor yelling over constructive teaching methods. The yelling wasn’t just for gaining attention; it often felt demeaning and counterproductive, especially for young minds. As someone who has been through intense military training and continues to work in a high-stress field, I can differentiate between assertive communication and outright verbal harshness. One instance that particularly troubled me was when my son, aged 6, approached Coach Austin for clarification and was met with a snapped response for merely interrupting a conversation. Witnessing such interactions repeatedly has led me to question the underlying philosophy of their training. The most disheartening moment was hearing Coach Austin tell the children to keep attending “until you are not having fun anymore.” This approach, in my view, not only undermines the children’s confidence but also contradicts the essence of martial arts training, which should empower and uplift. I hoped for an environment where my child would learn discipline, respect, and self-defense in a supportive and positive manner. Instead, I saw parallels between the supposed anti-bullying ethos of martial arts and the instructors’ own borderline bullying tactics. To fellow parents considering this facility for their children, I advise caution. Martial arts training should be about building character and skills in a nurturing environment, not breaking spirits under the guise of toughness. I want to add in here no one is asking for participation trophies again as a Vet I get the need for earning your spot to be promoted and to developing skills. The reason we enrolled him in the program was for character building. Look we can argue about the what happened as you spoke to my son in front of me. The fact that I had to go explain that you were out of line on the tone you took when you corrected him is the issue. You didn’t calmly explain please don’t interrupt. You snapped at him to the point that he walked away from you out of fear, and as soon as you were done with the other kids you didn’t take the time to look for him to find out what he needed to ask you, but you started the next class with no issues or hesitation. One last item on your rebuttal I really appreciate you turning and passing the blame to me on the way I raising my son and my expectations and on my own son how was just simply looking to find out what he need to improve on from the class that evening.

be aware of 6 month contract! when we went to a trial class, the girl in the office kept talking for the entire half an hour and never mentioned the 6 month contract, and the next day she sent me bunch of forms to sign up and I blindly signed it all, moving forward my son had a hard time in the class and for so many reason(I don't want to get to the details) we decided to cancel the class and I informed them about our decision 2 weeks prior the first day of month, but they still charged me for the next month and they told me they are going to keep charging our credit card for the remainder of the contract, that's the first time I heard the word contract out of that talkative girl. since then I asked other martial arts around prosper and none of them are that desperate to charge you for the services that they haven't provide.

If I could give ZERO stars I would.... If I could give ZERO stars I would... We had 3 children that signed up for the classes here. We had a month to try it out before our contract went into effect and so we came to classes. They were very small areas to train, classes were overloaded with kids with only 1 or maybe 2 instructors with about 20+ kids in a very small area. Needless to say after about 3 weeks of classes my children decided they didn't like the instruction, the classes were too cramped and just were not having any fun or even learning anything what so ever as they had very little instruction. I talked to the coaches about taking them out as they were not enjoying it. I spoke to them over the phone several times and even have the calls logged about the kids not enjoying the classes and that they did not want to come back. Just a reminder that I spent money on buying all the children their equipment from Rockstar along with our dues...I did not ask for any refunds...I simply told then we would not be coming back due to the issues. I was ignored only to find out a month later they tried to charge my account. I had to have the charges reversed and blocked. I reached out to the owner who was very rude about the situation, then spoke to her coaches which the guy coach was much nicer and understood but when we spoke to the woman coach she was also very ride just like the owner. They have turned our account over to collections, I have tried discussing it with the owners several times even on Social media messages to resolve the issue. I am now filing a law suit for theft of services against this company for unlawfully trying to keep us in a contract and for falsely turning over an account to collections where we did not actually owe them any money. I would never recommend anyone to go here. I have been to a lot better places around here since with zero issues. I have been around Jiu Jitsu forest ogy life and have never had a gym or facility act like this. but after this happend we found out that we are not the only ones they have done this too.
