2 years ago, my husband approached me again regarding putting our autistic son in martial arts. For years he would lightly bring it up and I was adamantly against it. For whatever reason, I decided to be "somewhat OK" with signing him up, but I knew there was only ONE coach in this entire metroplex that I trust with my son and that's - Joao Somalia (owner of Rockstar Martial Arts North McKinney and North Prosper). He was more than HIGHLY recommended by close friends who have had kids that have trained with him for close to a decade. My friends both knew our son and knew what he'd need to be successful. There are 2 Rockstar locations that are closer to our house, but we drive for Somalia & Tayla. If you are in the McKinney or Prosper area and are looking for a martial arts gym for your child - give them a try.
Posted 4 months agoOur son, has been attending Rockstar Martial Arts North McKinney for just about a year now and we couldn't be happier with the experience. Coach Somalia and Coach Tayla are awesome! They create a supportive environment and classes are engaging, challenging and well structured. We have noticed a significant improvement in our son's confidence, discipline, and physical fitness since he started here. We highly recommend Rock Star Martial Arts North McKinney!
Posted 7 months agoJoining Rockstar with coaches Somalia and Tayla has been hands down the best parenting decision for our family!! The discipline and work ethic taught in every class has my son exceedingly performing in his school work as well as at home. It has been the best outlet for all of the rowdy energy that comes along with a healthy smart child and we look forward to growing with the jiujitsu family here. I’m so thankful!!!
Posted 2 years agoTruly an extraordinary experience! I came to them broken and out of shape and in a few months I was doing things in my late 40's that I haven't done since my early 20's. The environment is supportive encouraging, reassuring, uplifting, engaging, and positive. Because of the coaches and the upper belts believing in me and pushing me to stay consistent I am able to achieve things I never thought possible. This gym has had such a profound impact on me that I encouraged my wife and kids to join as well. We now settle our family problems on the mat :,)
Posted 4 months agoCoach Somalia and Tayla run an amazing school. Rockstar North McKinney is ran like a family. Coach Somalia provides the right balance of discipline and support for wherever you are on your journey. He takes a personal interest in his students and pushes them to achieve their best. There’s a lot of schools around with good coaches. We are blessed to have a GREAT coach who still trains and competes at the highest level.
