My son has been going here for a little over two years and all the instructors and coaches are super friendly and great with the kids. For the adults it’s a great environment as well from both the newest white belts to the most experienced of practitioners. Overall great place.

Both of my children have been attending Rio Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for nearly two years. The program and instructors are amazing. The discipline and life long skills that both my children are learning are priceless. I cannot recommend Rio enough!

My wife and I attended a session when we were visiting family and it was our first time. The instructor was very knowledgeable and made the experience comfortable, even for newbies like us. They also taught practical moves for self defense, not just for jiu jitsu competitions. Would definitely recommend!

Visited Rio Jiu Jitsu while in town visiting family. Went into a class having very little knowledge and zero experience with jiu jitsu and thoroughly enjoyed it! Was a very welcoming and safe environment. Clear and easy to follow directions and the instructor was also available to provide guidance when I felt a little out of my element. Learned so much and would absolutely go back!

My first try at BJJ was incredible, thanks to the professionals at Rio! Instruction was clear and moved at a pace that worked with my physical limitations. I’d be a regular if I lived closer!!

I dropped in while visiting the area and had an incredible experience! Everyone I encountered was very informative and helpful. Even though I was a drop in, I felt like it was my home academy. Will definitely drop in again and would train here permanently if I lived here.

Did a drop in class/open mat at Rio Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and loved it! Instructors were very skilled and friendly. The facility is exceptionally clean, location is great and overall my experience was 5 starts!! They have a great group of students of varying abilities, sizes, and gender! I felt very welcomed and learned a lot. Will definitely be coming back for more 😊

Fernando was amazing. Super smart and great at breaking down complex ideas. I was just a drop in but I felt really welcome and he treated me like I was a regular student. If I lived in the area this would definitely be my gym.

We enrolled our son Miles at Rio with the intention of improving his confidence and to give him an outlet to get his energy out on a regular basis. We have already seen a change in him and he definitely gets his energy out in the mat. The professors and staff are top notch. They get the best out of the kids and make the most out of every session. We are more than pleased with Rio and have since enrolled our 8 year old and intend to enroll our youngest when he turns six. Thanks for providing a great place and environment to bring our kids to. We are grateful!!

My husband and I love attending the adult classes! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The higher belts do a great job at helping the lower belts learn and grow. There is a great community here. I absolutely love the ladies' group chat where we can connect to share updates and videos, and coordinate when we'll be attending class.

I highly recommend Rio Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense. The facility is clean, open, & organized. My child really enjoys going there & getting all the built up energy from the day out & learning new skills & making friends who share in the same interests. The staff & professors are welcoming, knowledgeable, patient, and really care about the safety of their students. They make sure their students do the moves safely & correctly while making it fun! The classes are engaging and well structured, and the curriculum is designed to help students of all levels progress at their own pace. What I love most is that the professors know each of their students by name, they really try to connect with them. All in all, if you’re looking for a place that teaches your child self-defense skills, while instilling into them important & valuable skills like discipline, consistency, & self confidence this is your place!

My kiddo recently switched over to this gym. He’s not stopped raving about it. He was able to follow his favorite professor who has been a great teacher to him. He was starting to dislike going to classes in his old gym, and this place has renewed his interest and passion for the art. Will have to make it to a class myself sometime in the future.

The entire Rio Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense team is amazing (Duda, Fred, Ryan, Bret & Marlon). Not only do they have all the high caliber teaching skills needed (black belt level masters to the soft skills needed for young students) but they also operate as a community. A family. A really great atmosphere from the front desk to the back office. We are glad we joined.

I was searching for a good grappling school for both my Pre-K sons. Rio Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Self Defense has the best program of the different Jiu Jitsu schools that I visited in the area. Here are the observed Pros: 1) The instructors demonstrated excellent classroom control, 2) Program price is reasonable, 3) Kid friendly, and 4) The curriculum is dynamic and does an excellent job in keeping young students engaged. I highly recommend.

Been training at Rio BJJ & SD since opening day. Coming from 2 prior gyms, I can genuinely say that the people are incredible, the facility is excellent (clean and neat), and the instruction is among the best. Duda, Ryan, and Fred have created something great, and I am proud to be a part of it. They have a legitimate family feeling and even teach free self-defense on Saturday mornings. This place is well worth a visit - you won't be disappointed!

I recently restarted my BJJ journey and I found this academy. I am a female and participating in a male dominated martial art can be intimidating. The professor and staff have created a welcoming environment for me. Everyone has been extremely respectful and I have felt safe training here. The hours they offer allow me to train when I am available, which is great. No more late evening classes for me!

Since day one of operations, Rio BJJ has been nothing but professional and fosters a family-type environment. Professor Duda, Coach Ryan, and Coach Fred all have the minds for Jiu Jitsu and have provenly tested their abilities in competition and on the mats daily. Everyone cares about your individual progression whatever your goals may be. The Academy is very clean and very safe. The instruction is World Class, and I feel myself progressing each time I attend class. Whether your goals are BJJ competition, Self-Defense, maintaining fitness levels, or just trying something new; Rio BJJ is the place to be. Even if you are not interested in competition, the level of instruction here will prepare you regardless!

If Google offered a special designation for the top echelon of businesses beyond five stars Rio Jiu-Jitsu and Self Defense would deserve this status. There are so many positive aspects to Rio it is difficult to know where to begin. The instruction is outstanding, the owners are contagiously passionate about Jiu Jitsu, but most importantly, Rio exudes an air of positivity. The culture is welcoming, genuine and inclusionary. My kids(10,10,7) and I have been learning BJJ from professor Duda for over 2 years now. We have loved every minute on the mat with him. During the same time, I've gotten to personally know the owners of Rio BJJ. All three individuals are some of the most approachable, friendly, and supportive people one could ask for in any situation. If you've ever thought about trying BJJ for competition, fitness, traveling drop in, or just a social activity in SE Aurora, Colorado... Rio BJJ is where you should be.
