I’ve been meaning to try Shahram’s class for years, as a friend had strongly recommended him. Finally had the chance to go to one of his Jiujitsu classes. I am a newbie to it all but willing to learn. I found an environment that is positive and supportive. I could ask questions and get help. And I was of course challenged and pushed, but just the right amount to grow and learn. Everyone in the class took care of me and helped me understand exercises and moves. Seems like a great community. Strongly recommend trying out his class.

Really love JKD! Shahram really knows the art and is very patient teacher. The fellow students are very friendly and easy to get along with and help you out. Shahram teaches jui jitsu and other weapon variants. I highly recommend JKD to men and women!

Here is my advice for those who take the arts, philosophies & training methods passed on from Bruce Lee to Dan Inosanto to Paul Vunak and now to Shahram Moosavi very seriously. Invest your resources into 100 hours of private / semi-private training where you are able to get individualized training with Shahram Moosavi. I am one of the lucky individuals that have actually made this investment of my resources and I can share with you in absolute confidence as a 40 year analyst of the martial arts & former martial arts studio operator that you will have enough homework to practice for an entire lifetime! Then get to Shahram’s group classes and enjoy every minute of it! You will receive a well rounded martial arts education & find the self-mastery that you are looking for! Shahram carries Bruce Lee, Dan Inosanto, & Paul Vunak’s teachings forward. UFC’s Dana White acknowledged that Bruce Lee is the father of MMA. Honestly, I think this comment sells Bruce Lee a little bit short since no one in the UFC has ever completely functionalized what Bruce Lee’s actual philosophy promoted. Shahram Moosavi as the very first Senior Full Instructor in Progressive Fighting Systems that Paul Vunak & Tom Cruz ever promoted in PFS is one of the few people that can actually functionalize the Bruce Lee, Dan Inosanto, Vunak JKD philosophy. I know this since Shahram is one of the very few people that I have met that I believe can actually execute and teach “defanging the snake” aka “nerve destructions” under pressure in conjunction with intercepting and flowing seamlessly from range to range. Any advanced JKD / FMA expert understands the implications of destroying the limbs for surviving mass attack and entering with pain. If you can not functionalize nerve destructions, intercepting, footwork and structure that pulls off surviving a mass attack, and rapidly enter with pain with the Straight Blast (Jik Chun Choy); to terminate the fight with Elbows, Knees, & Headbutts, & then end with a finishing hold or flow seamless back & forth between these then you are not doing the modernized Vunak Jeet Kune Do / FMA as Inosanto passed it down to Paul Vunak. Credit goes to Inosanto and our JKD family for passing it on to Vunak & Inosanto’s other students and also to Shahram Moosavi a true martial arts prodigy & phenom over the last 35 years here in Arizona. This is the reality of the matter. Jeet Kune Do is a philosophy, however it also has a structure to it and Dan Inosanto passed this rich architecture from Bruce Lee down to us so let’s continue to functionalize & evolve it. Shahram Moosavi has the training methods to unlocking the functional Jeet Kune Do / FMA in action for future generations & to preserve and evolve the art as Dan Inosanto and Bruce’s other student’s sacrificed everything to do this for us. Special thanks to Paul Vunak & Tom Cruz for perpetuating the art & philosophy as well. I follow & support Shahram and will always continue to do so. -Rick Rick LeForce

I’ve trained at other schools and various other arts for 17 years before arriving at JKD Institute . I can say with confidence that the training, techniques, and various real life scenarios we train through are top notch, versatile, realistic, and attainable for almost all levels of athleticism. I just moved to AZ and got really lucky to have found JKD Institute and am proud to be a student all over again! Following up on my post over three years ago, I can say I wish I can give JKD six stars. Along with training and development that delivers and exceeds expectations, the community that Shahram has developed at his school is a real family, supportive environment. It’s a culture where we train hard but also care about the well being and development of all students, no matter the level and/or tenure. I have since moved away from AZ but I still return for private lessons as it is hard to find the same level of training, education and expertise where I am in California. I truly miss this school!
